Aufgrund des großen Volumens, welches insbesondere der Vorratsbehälter für das in Tablettenform vorliegende Geschirreinigungsmittel aufweisen muß, ist die Dosiervorrichtung vorzugsweise losgelöst von der den Arbeitsbehälter verschließenden Tür innerhalb des Arbeitsbehälters angeordnet und mit Steuermitteln gekoppelt, wobei ein Teil der notwendigen Steuermittel der Dosiervorrichtung zugeordnet und der andere Teil der Steuermittel außerhalb des Arbeitsbehälters angeordnet ist, wobei beide Teile der Steuermittel miteinander gekoppelt sind, um Antriebs- und/oder Steuersignale für das Dosiergerät zu übertragen. Die Kopplung kann dabei rein drahtlos erfolgen, wofür sich Funk- und/oder Ultraschall- und/oder Lichtenergie eignen bzw. eine kapazitive oder induktive Kopplung mittels eines geteilten Wechselstromübertragers möglich ist. Reicht die drahtlos übertragene Energie für eine unmittelbare Ansteuerung des Dosiergeräts nicht aus, kann das Dosiergerät mit einem elektrischen Energiespeicher ausgestattet sein, der durch die drahtlose Speisung übertragene geringe elektrische Energie speichert und erst nach Auftreten eines Steuersignals das Dosiergerät speist. Zusätzlich oder alternativ können jedoch auch mechanische Steuermittel vorgesehen sein, die von einer außerhalb des Arbeitsbehälters angeordneten Antriebseinrichtung betätigt werden und die für die Betätigung des Dosiergeräts notwendigen mechanischen Kräfte auf den Dosiermechanismus übertragen. Die Dosiervorrichtung kann an einem Geschirrkorb angebracht werden, wo sie in besonders einfacher Weise durch Herausziehen desselben frei zugänglich ist, wenn Tabletten nachgefüllt oder der Tablettenvorrat kontrolliert werden soll. Die Dosiervorrichtung ist dabei insbesondere lösbar angebracht, um evtl. notwendige Reparaturen oder Reinigungsvorgänge in einfacher Weise daran vornehmen zu können. Die Dosiervorrichtung kann jedoch auch an einer Wand des Arbeitsbehälters angebracht sein, wobei hier der Vorteil besteht, daß dann die Koppelmittel eng zueinander angeordnet werden können und eine zuverlässige Energieübertragung möglich wird.
