Description

The present invention relates to a flexible sheet complex, its manufacturing process and a package comprising such a complex.

The invention finds a particularly advantageous, but not exclusive, application in the field of the packaging industry.

French patent No. 2,563,809 discloses a tubular package consisting of a cylindrical support formed by a sheet of plastic material, paper, cardboard, etc., on which is wound and glued a strip of wood such as a plywood in two. cross folds.

The implementation of this known tubular packaging is as follows: a template is used for winding the support sheet, two edges of which are parallel to a given direction constituted by the generatrix of the cylinder, said edges being able to overlap to allow their bonding by gluing or stapling. The wooden strip is then wound on this support sheet, in a spiral and with contiguous turns, using hot or cold glue. Better radial mechanical strength of the tubular packaging is thus obtained. However, the production of such packaging is long and tedious and does not lead to very good mechanical strength in the direction of shaping, that is to say the direction of the generator of the cylinder.

Also, the technical problem to be solved by the object of the present invention is to propose a flexible sheet complex, intended to be shaped around a given direction, a complex which would be very simple to implement, easy to manufacture. , and which would provide excellent mechanical strength in the forming direction.

The solution to the technical problem posed consists, according to the present invention, in that said complex comprises a sheet of flexible material on which is glued at least one sheet of unrolled wood whose fiber direction constitutes said forming direction.

The flexible sheet complex of the invention may comprise only one unrolled sheet of wood glued to the flexible material support sheet: paper, plastic, aluminum, foam or cardboard, especially food cardboard if said complex is intended for food industry.

Similarly, in accordance with the invention, a package is remarkable in that it comprises a flexible sheet complex according to the invention, shaped around said forming direction so as to produce any tubular volume. Any tubular volume is understood to mean a cylindrical volume of revolution or not, leaving it to the user to give the packaging the shape he wishes. The section of said tubular volume can therefore be arbitrary, namely circular, oval, square, rectangular, etc.

The implementation of the flexible sheet complex of the invention is therefore extremely simple since it suffices to bend the sheet around the direction of the wood fibers, which presents no difficulty since in this sense the complex only presents low mechanical resistance.

Conversely, the Applicant has highlighted the fact that the mechanical resistance of the complex according to the invention was very high in the direction of the wood fibers, which gives excellent axial strength to the packaging resulting from the placing in the form of said complex around this direction.

Of course, the mechanical strength is lower in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the sheet of the flexible complex, object of the invention, that is to say in the radial direction of a shaped package. However, it should be noted that, following a lateral deformation, the sheet of flexible material, due to its elasticity, tends to return the unrolled sheet of wood to its initial position, and to restore the packaging to its nominal shape.

Finally, the flexible sheet complex of the invention has the additional advantage that the knots possibly present in the unrolled sheet of wood are glued to the sheet of flexible material and that, consequently, they cannot be detached from said sheet. peeled wood, thus avoiding an unpleasant effect on the eye.

According to another embodiment of the invention, a sheet of unrolled wood is glued to each face of said sheet of flexible material, the directions of the fibers of said sheets of unrolled wood being arranged parallel to the direction of forming, this so as to maintain good mechanical flexibility around the direction defined by the common sense of the fibers. This type of complex is particularly well suited when a more aesthetic effect is sought, in particular in decoration or in the packaging of luxury products, such as bottles of alcohol, etc.

The description which follows with reference to the appended drawings, given by way of nonlimiting examples, will make it clear what the invention consists of and how it can be implemented.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of a flexible sheet complex according to the invention.

Figure 2 is a perspective view of a second embodiment of a flexible sheet complex according to the invention.

Figure 3 is a perspective view of a first package made using a complex of the invention.

Figure 4 is a perspective view of a second package produced using a complex of the invention.

Figure 1 shows in perspective a flexible sheet complex 10, intended to be shaped around a given direction D. Said complex 10 comprises a sheet 11 of a flexible material which may be paper, plastic, aluminum, foam or cardboard, optionally food cardboard. On the sheet 11 is laminated a sheet 12 of unrolled wood, extracted from species such as poplar, beech, oak, etc., the direction of the fibers 121 of the wood constituting said direction D of forming. The unrolled wood can, without disadvantage, be a second choice wood having nodes 122 which in any event remain in place due to their bonding to the sheet 11 of flexible material.

The complex thus formed has good flexibility in forming around the direction D, as indicated by the arrows in FIG. 1. On the other hand, the mechanical resistance to the forces exerted parallel to the direction D is very high.

On conserve ainsi une bonne souplesse mécanique de déformation autour de la direction D, ce qui ne serait pas le cas si les fibres des feuilles de bois déroulé étaient disposées perpendiculairement entre elles.FIG. 2 illustrates an alternative embodiment in which a sheet 12,12 ′ of unrolled wood is glued to each face of the sheet 11 of flexible material, the directions of the fibers 121,121 ′ of said sheets 12,12 ′ being arranged parallel to the direction D of forming. This preserves good mechanical flexibility of deformation around the direction D, which would not be the case if the fibers of the unrolled wood sheets were arranged perpendicularly to each other.

The thicknesses of the different sheets 11, 12 and 12 ′ are chosen such that they ensure easy forming while guaranteeing good mechanical rigidity of the resulting product, such as for example a packaging.

As an indication, the sheets 12,12 'of unrolled wood can have a thickness varying between 3/10 and 50/10 mm, while the sheet 11 of flexible material has a thickness between 3/10 and 30/10 mm.

In addition to particular applications in decoration and building, the flexible complexes 10, 10 ′ in sheets of FIGS. 1 and 2 are advantageously used in the manufacture of packaging in which said complex is shaped around the direction D of forming of so as to achieve any tubular volume.

Bien entendu, les portions cylindriques des couvercles 21,22 peuvent également être réalisées à l'aide d'un complexe souple en feuille conforme à l'invention.FIG. 3 shows a first example of such a packaging having a cylindrical tubular body 20 of revolution formed from a sheet of complex 10 or 10 ′ wound on itself around the direction D, and glued using cold or hot glue. Two covers 21, 22 close the body 20 at each of its ends. Of course, the cylindrical portions of the covers 21, 22 can also be produced using a flexible sheet complex according to the invention.

La paroi 30 est fermé sur un côté par un fond 31.The second example of packaging shown in FIG. 4 comprises a wall formed by a complex 10 or 10 ′ shaped around the direction D, according to a technique known to manufacturers of packaging, in particular cheese boxes, to produce a cylindrical tubular volume not of revolution. The wall 30 is closed on one side by a bottom 31.

The tubular volume section of the packaging of the invention may also have other shapes, such as oval, square, rectangular, etc.

The packages shown in Figures 3 and 4 are formed so as to reveal the wooden side of the complex outside. Naturally, one could just as easily form said complex so that it makes visible the face carrying the flexible material, cardboard for example.

A method of manufacturing a flexible sheet complex according to the invention comprises the following steps.

at least one 12.12 'sheet of peeled wood,
  • hot plating of said sheet 12,12 ′ of wood unrolled on at least one face of said sheet 11 of flexible material.
