Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus for cleaning cylinders of printing machines, preferably offset printing machines. It serves to increase the service life of washing rollers and to improve the quality of cleaning. This is achieved in that the washing roller (4) is arranged in a housing (2) which has at least one movable housing part (3) for opening or closing the opening (9). The washing roller can thus be cleaned in a closed housing (2) in the thrown-off position and can be thrown on the cylinder (1) in a clean state. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a cleaning device for cylinders of printing presses, preferably offset printing presses, which is equipped with a wash roller which can be turned on and off a cylinder and can be sprayed with a liquid and, if necessary, can be lifted off the cylinder jacket surface in the area of the gripper bridge of a printing cylinder.

Such a cleaning device is e.g. known from DE-OS 1 436 535, wherein this device cannot be lifted off in the region of the gripper bridge of the cylinder jacket surface. A detachable washing device is known for example from EP 004 605 A1 and DE 3 614 496 A1. A disadvantage of these known cleaning devices with a washing roller is that the washing rollers are each arranged in a housing and the housing has an opening facing the cylinder jacket surface. The cleaning process of the washing roller itself takes place during the cleaning of the cylinder surface with the washing roller in the turned position. Since the housing of the washing roller is open, the washing roller can dry out faster when it is in the parked position (rest position), which reduces the service life. Furthermore, when the position is switched off, cleaning agents or their evaporation can escape into the environment through the opening, which impairs the emission values in the pressroom.

The task is to develop a solution that noticeably reduces the disadvantages mentioned. This is solved by the characteristic Part of the main claim. Further training results from the subclaims.

The cleaning device according to the invention essentially has a housing that extends beyond the entire width of the cylinder to be cleaned. The housing has an opening facing the cylinder and accommodates at least one rotatably mounted washing roller and additionally has a movable housing part, which opens this opening for placing the washing roller on the cylinder or closes after the washing process has ended, with the washing roller turned off. This has the advantage that the washing roller can be cleaned in the closed housing during the printing operation in addition to the washing process known per se on the cylinder jacket surface. Emission values in the pressroom are reduced because less cleaning agent escapes into the environment. Rapid soiling of the washing roller is prevented and the service life of the cleaning device in the printing press is increased. This is particularly advantageous when assigning the cleaning device according to the invention to an impression cylinder, since these cylinders are more difficult to access for service work. When the housing is closed (in the storage position), the washing roller surface is prevented from drying out, since the air humidity remains relatively high in the closed system. This contributes to the further increase in tool life.

The cleaning time is further shortened, since the cleaning process always starts with an already cleaned washing roller. The housing can also accommodate several wash rollers that can be adjusted to the cylinder. The cleaning devices assigned to the respective printing units, depending on the contamination or a predetermined washing time, e.g. B. Activate individually after completion of a print job. In a further embodiment, the opening of the housing can also be opened or closed with a plurality of movable housing parts.

In addition to the preferred use of a cleaning device with one or more washing rollers accommodated in the housing, a washing cloth can also be arranged in the housing instead of a washing roller. The sprayable washcloth is received in the housing of the cleaning device with a supply roller, a take-up roller and a pressure element or a roller for the washcloth. In the parking position (rest position), the movable housing part has closed the opening in the housing. As a result, the washcloth dries out more slowly, the consumption of cleaning agents can be reduced and the service life is increased. The escape of cleaning agents from the washcloth is minimized, which also reduces emissions in the pressroom.

Das Gehäuseteil 3 schließt oder öffnet dabei in bevorzugter Weise über elastische Federn die Öffnung 9.A cleaning device according to the invention is arranged in a printing unit below an impression cylinder 1 of an offset printing machine. The cleaning device has a housing 2 which has an approximately rectangular cross section and extends beyond the full width of the cylinder 1. The housing 2 accommodates a washing roller 4, here a washing brush equipped with bristles, the shaft of which is technically coupled with its own drive (not shown). On the housing 2, a water supply 6 directed towards the washing roller 4, a doctor blade 5 cooperating with the washing roller 4 and a cleaning agent supply 7 directed towards the washing roller 4 are arranged. At the lowest point of the housing 2 there is an outlet 8 for the dirty cleaning agent and water mixture, to which a collecting container (not shown) connected via lines for regeneration and for Separating the mixture is subordinate. Associated with the cylinder 1, the housing 2 has an opening 9 which extends over the entire width of the cylinder 1. The opening is dimensioned so that the washing roller 4 is in washing contact with the outer surface of the cylinder 1 in the position of contact. Arranged on the housing 2 is a housing part 3 which is movable in guides and which exposes the opening 9 in the setting position and closes this opening 9 again in the setting position. The housing part 3 closes or opens the opening 9 in a preferred manner via elastic springs.

The mode of action is as follows:
The cleaning device is normally in the parked position (FIG. 1). The washing roller 4 has no contact with the cylinder 1 and the opening 9 in the housing 2 is closed by the movable housing part 3. The washing roller 4 is in the parked position in the rest position when the roller 4 has no contamination. If the roller 4 is contaminated by previous cleaning operations on the cylinder 1, the washing roller 4 is set in rotation via the drive (not shown) and liquids are sprayed individually or jointly onto the surface of the washing roller 4 via the water supply 6 and cleaning agent supply 7 as required . The degree of soiling of the washing roller 4 can be determined empirically or preferably by a mechanical or electrical sensor which is assigned to the washing roller 4. The washing roller 4 is in contact with the doctor blade 5 arranged on the housing in such a way that the impurities picked up by the outer surface of the cylinder 1 are sprayed off toward the bottom of the housing and flow out of the housing 2 with the liquids via the outlet 8. When the washing roller 4 has finished the cleaning process, the drive is stopped and the roller 4 is in the rest position when the opening 9 is closed and in the parked position.

In the employed position (FIG. 2), the washing roller 4 is in contact with the outer surface of the cylinder 1. For this, the Cleaning device according to the invention on the cylinder 1 not shown cylinder 1. During the start, the housing part 3 is moved in such a way that the opening 9 is opened and the washing roller 4 comes into contact with the lateral surface of the cylinder 1 (starting position). The washing roller 4 is set in rotation beforehand, the direction of rotation of the washing roller 4 being opposite to the direction of rotation of the cylinder 1. At the same time, the washing roller 4 is sprayed with water and / or cleaning agent via the feeds 6, 7. When a cylinder 1 equipped with gripper bridges rotates, the washing roller 4 with the housing 2 is temporarily switched off via the working cylinder, so that the grippers move past the washing roller 4 without contact. For this brief point in time, the opening 9 of the housing 2 remains free, for example by the movable housing part 3 remaining in a lock. After passing the grippers, the washing roller 4 with the housing 2 is placed on the cylinder 1 again. When the cleaning process is finished, the washing roller 4 with the housing 2 is shut off from the cylinder 1 and the housing part 3 closes the opening 9. Depending on the degree of soiling, the washing roller 4 is washed in the now closed housing 2 during printing or remains in the rest position until the next cleaning operation .
