- the invention relates to a resonance absorber for damping structure-borne noise with a number of freely vibrating tongues with different resonance frequencies, the tongues being arranged on a common base which can be connected to a body to be damped.
- Resonance absorbers of the type mentioned above are e.g. known from DE 1 071 364 or DE-OS 2 163 798. With these vibration absorbers, the individual tongues are matched to the vibrations of the body to be damped with regard to their resonance frequency. The tongues thus excited to resonate vibrations thus withdraw vibration energy from the body to be damped, which energy is ultimately converted into heat by suitable damping of the tongues.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a resonance absorber of the above. To create a type that allows a more compact design with the same effect, can be tuned to the widest possible frequency range and manages with smaller amounts of damping material than before.
- the vibration absorber according to the invention has on the one hand free-swinging tongues, which are designed as double tongues, but which are not vibrationally coupled to adjacent double tongues and thus show a defined vibration behavior.
- a technology is used to increase the damping of a double tongue, which is known per se as a "constrained coating" for damping bending vibrations of thin sheets.
- the damping layer is not deformed by compression or relaxation, but by shear, so that the damping layers can be extremely thin.
- the tongues can either be side by side, e.g. be arranged according to DE 2 163 798 or one above the other, e.g. corresponding to DE 1 071 364 or EP 0 020 284 B1.
- a particularly compact manner several layers with a congruent outer circumference are stacked one above the other, so that a block of free-floating double tongues is arranged in rows and columns.
- the resonance absorber shown in the figure consists of seven layers (1 to 7) of double tongues (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 ...), each layer being made of two congruent metal plates of the same thickness.
- the plates are cut in a comb-like manner on two opposite sides A and B, a base strip of width b running obliquely over the plate surface remaining uncut.
- congruent spacers 10 to 15 are inserted between the individual layers, via which the individual plates are acoustically coupled in the area of the base strips, the layers and the spacers by a base plate 8 and a so-called adapter plate 9 by means of clamping screws 9.1 to 9.7 are held together.

- the base strip runs asymmetrically across the plate level, 2 x 7 double tongues are created per layer, each with a different length and thus a different resonance frequency.
- the layer thickness of the individual plate elements increases from layer to layer (from 1 to 7), the number of tongues with different resonance frequencies is multiplied by the number of layers.
- the coupling factor varies between the values 1 and 2 depending on the material. With a very soft damping mass, the natural frequency of the double tongue increases only insignificantly; with a very hard damping mass, the coupling factor 2 is almost obtained, i.e. a frequency doubling.
