Definitions

  • the invention relates to a disposal container according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such containers are used, for example, in hospitals and medical practices to collect, transport and dispose of special medical waste. They have different sizes depending on the application, square or round cross-section and are, for example in the size of a toy bucket, also referred to as a "disposal box".
  • the containers are usually made of a thermoplastic material.
  • the container bodies which are made separately from the lid, are open at the top over the entire cross-section of the container and taper towards the bottom of the container.
  • the containers are closed with a lid, which in turn is a smaller and easily closable for the duration of the collection has re-opening opening.
  • the containers can also have, for example on the top of the container top, an opening which can be closed by a lid and which is smaller than the cross section of the container.
  • a lid lock So that the lids cannot come loose again after the containers have been closed, in order to prevent any contact with a contaminated container content, which may be hazardous to health, the containers are usually provided with a lid lock.
  • a lid lock Such a device is known, for example, from DE G 92 04 212 for a "disposal box" that tapers conically downwards and is open at the top. It is designed as a type of snap lock and accordingly has two complementary locking parts.
  • the stiffness of the thermoplastic material used, the thickness of the side wall of the box housing and the cover collar wall as well as the thickness of the material bulge on the cover collar leg and the thickening of the material on the edge of the box housing determine how the cover is closed and the snap-in mechanism is brought about. These factors are related to one another for sufficient security of locking agreed that to close the box, which is only finished when the lid snaps into place, not only a considerable effort is required, but also some skill for some users. Because due to the necessary expansion of the outer leg of the lid edge collar when pressed onto the edge of the box housing in this generated material tension, so to speak, the lid opposes the pushing movement on the box housing or bringing about the engagement.
  • this known lid lock in particular in an embodiment which is intended to make it easier to close such a box, can be resolved to such an extent that a slight expansion movement of the lid collar, for example with the blade of a knife, can be carried out easily by means of an aid, so that the Have the lid removed from the container.
  • a container made of plastic is known according to the preamble of claim 1 with a closure lid also secured against automatic loosening for collecting and disposing of problem waste.
  • the lid which is to be produced by injection molding, can be easily removed from the injection mold, in a preferred embodiment it has a V-shaped edge collar, claw-like, V-shaped flaps which are spaced apart at intervals on the free outer edge of the collar are.
  • the container body has, below the edge of the container lid opening, an outwardly projecting rib which has corresponding recesses in the lid tab.
  • the tabs When the container is closed with the lid, the tabs penetrate into the recesses, bend backwards towards the container wall and finally snap in below the rib, jumping forward towards its outer edge.
  • the lid is thus held on the container by the spring force determined by the elasticity of the lid tabs, the rib representing an abutment gripped by the curved tabs.
  • the rim of the lid has an elaborate S-shape, seen in cross-section, to form the flaps.
  • the tabs must be evenly curved and the rib evenly flat and must not tire the plastic used so that the tabs do not lose their elasticity.
  • the formation of the flap requires an additional cutting or punching process.
  • closing the container requires some skill and strength. For this purpose, at least several adjacent tabs must first be “threaded” into the recesses of the locking rib and then pressed through to latch, for which purpose they first have to bend towards the container wall due to the application of force.
  • Document EP-A-0 168 877 contains two alternatives to this cover securing. 3 there are - as already explained at the beginning - ribs formed all around on the outside of the container or on the inside of the cover collar, on which the former snaps into place, and the one shown in FIG. 4 on the outside on the container wall parallel to this upstanding flap with barbs at the end, made by cuts in a circumferential additional wall, which, when the lid is closed, engage in recesses in a rib formed on the bottom of the downwardly facing collar and protrude above it.
  • the latter solution offers no security against unauthorized loosening of the snapped on because of the directly accessible tabs Lids or influences that can lead to loss of tightness of the lid lock.
  • the invention is based on the problem of creating a disposal container of the type described above with a lid securing device which guarantees an extraordinarily high level of protection both against automatic detachment of the lid from the container body and against willful attempts to remove the lid, thereby a simple design and thus an inexpensive manufacture of the container body and lid allows, in particular also in a form that allows space-saving transport and storage by stacking the container body, which facilitates a combined closing of the container body and securing the lid to the container body so that this requires neither a significant effort nor a special skill, and which enables a germ-tight lid closure of the container body.
  • the latching elements are formed in the area of the container lid opening and that the abutment is formed in the area of the lid edge, the latching elements pointing downwards with their free end and latching with the abutment with this end in the latching position, this ensures that when closing of the container body with the lid during the downward movement of the lid at the same time, quasi automatically without additional measures by the person doing this, the latching elements automatically assume their intended latching position, in particular no skill is required anymore.
  • the latching elements are designed according to the invention on the container body instead of on the lid, they are now fixed in position on this, so they have to be closed when the container is closed can no longer be moved with the lid, but instead the lid moves along them until they have taken their locking position on it and it has simultaneously taken its closed position on the container body. Since the snap-in elements are no longer formed on the lid, the exact positioning and adjustment of the lid for threading the snap-in elements into corresponding recesses, which is initially necessary to close the container body, is also eliminated, which now simplifies, facilitates and accelerates this process.
  • the latching elements can also have a simple shape, which is an advantage with regard to their design and also ensures their functional reliability in the long term.
  • the individual snap-in element can be dimensioned to be comparatively small and weak, despite the high overall security of this cover lock. This in turn reduces the effort required to bring the latching elements, which act independently and independently due to their spacing from one another, into their latching position, to an exceptionally high degree. Accordingly, the effort required for closing the container body with the lid or securing it as a whole is also reduced, even if, by means of a corresponding closing movement with the lid, approximately all the snap-in elements are brought into their snap-in position at the same time.
  • lid securing device is of importance, particularly in the medical sector, where such disposal containers are very often used by female employees, such as nurses. They can be very popular with those who only close the container with the lid when it is in use have to contribute. In addition, the closing of the container body and bringing about the securing of the lid is accelerated when hardly any force and skill are required for this.
  • the lid in its intended closure arrangement on the container body, in which it is now held by the snap-in elements formed on it, can no longer itself, so to speak, with snap-in elements designed on it holding the container body, no longer detach it from the container body.
  • the easy closability or lid securing according to the invention of a disposal container which is usually intended for handling by a single person, does not rule out the possibility that, in the case of heavy disposal containers, e.g. thick walls for high stability, in which the snap lock according to the invention can also be used, a correspondingly higher effort may be required to close the lid despite the basic "smooth operation" of the snap lock according to the invention.
  • the latching elements can be formed or arranged on the outside or inside of the container body in the region of the container lid opening or directly on the edge thereof, and the abutment can accordingly be formed on the inside or outside of the correspondingly designed cover collar, for. B. also by retrofitting by gluing or welding to the container or lid.
  • the cover In order to close the container body, the cover can not only be placed on the container, but also pressed into the container lid opening, with a corresponding design of the latching elements and the abutment, so that it may not protrude beyond the container.
  • a preferred, i.e. in no way limit the example to illustrate an embodiment of the invention is a disposal container according to claim 2 with a circular container lid opening formed by the circular open container body and a lid with an approximately U-shaped lid edge collar encompassing the edge of the container lid opening.
  • the latching elements preferably have the shape of tongues which are formed on the outside at the edge of the container lid opening and have their free end pointing downwards, from which they are preferably spaced apart, e.g. for sealing reasons, as will be explained further below, protrude like a ring.
  • Such tongues do not affect the cost-effective mass production of disposal containers made of plastic, since they can be formed on the container bodies in one step with the manufacture of the container bodies, and for this and in view of the demolding of the container bodies, there are no tools which are much more complex than the manufacture of e.g. from the DE-G 92 04 212 known container with the outside circumferential locking device are required.
  • the formation of the tongues on the outside at the edge of the container lid opening on the one hand further enables a smooth inner wall of the container body, as is advantageous for space-saving insertion of the container bodies provided for this purpose, for example by a correspondingly conical design, and on the other hand does not hinder insertion into one another, so that also Conical container bodies with the lid lock according to the invention can be obtained inexpensively in large quantities and stored in a space-saving manner.
  • the abutment for such tongue-shaped snap-in elements is a snap-in lip formed on the inside at the lower edge of the outer leg of the cover edge collar.
  • a stiffened and reinforced on the one hand advantageously the outer leg of the lid edge collar, which increases its stability against a detachment movement of the lid, in which the tongues would press with their free end on the locking lip.
  • such a lip can not only form the pawl-like seat for the tongues in its latching position securing the cover against detachment in a structurally simple manner, but at the same time thus also define the tongue position to be predetermined for the latching of the tongues.
  • the outer leg of the rim of the lid with the locking lip bends when closing the container lid opening with the lid, the tongues, which are arranged elastically on the edge of the container lid opening due to their material properties, increasingly towards the outer wall of the container, so that a material tension builds up in them.
  • the tongues intended for latching behind the latch lip are released from it and, by means of the material tension built up in them, independently like pawls of a locking mechanism in their latched position on jump outer leg of the lid collar, in which they rest on the inner wall under a residual material tension.
  • the tongues can be easily adapted to different loading requirements, which depend primarily on the size of the container to be secured against detachment of the lid and the weight of the container contents.
  • the tongue thickness and thus both the elasticity of the tongues in the area of their arrangement at the edge of the container lid opening and the tongue rigidity in the remaining tongue area can be matched to the respective container wall thickness without any special manufacturing expenditure.
  • the distances between the individual tongues, the width and the length of an individual tongue can also be varied.
  • the tongues when the container is not closed, protrude from the side wall of the container at an acute angle of approximately 30 ° formed with the container axis and the outer leg of the rim of the lid is at an acute angle of approximately 20 ° formed with the lid axis displayed.
  • the tongues do not provide any great resistance to the closing movement of the lid, since they only have to be pressed slightly towards the outer wall of the container so that the outer leg of the lid rim collar can slide along with the latching lip, which helps to reduce the effort required to close the container body.
  • the latching position of the tongues on the inside of the outer leg of the lid rim collar which projects only approximately 20 °, results in a material stress load securing the latching position, but also a high degree of security against detachment movements of the lid.
  • the thickness of the tongues can increase from their tongue root at the edge of the container lid opening to the free tongue end. As a result, they can absorb larger forces from the locking lip during a lid detachment movement and introduce them into the rigid edge of the container lid without their thickening at the root of the tongue being impaired by such a thickening.
  • the width of the latching lip advantageously increases at least on its inner flank toward its base on the inner wall of the outer leg of the cover rim collar.
  • the tongues arranged at the edge of the container lid opening preferably expand trapezoidally from their tongue root at the opening edge to the free tongue end. This makes it possible to continue to form flexible tongues in the axial direction of the container body despite such an opening edge curvature. Because the wider the Tongue root with such a curved lid opening edge, the lower its elasticity, since the existing edge curvature in the tongue would continue and this would stiffen.
  • the root of the tongue can be just so wide that the curvature of the opening edge does not yet significantly affect its elasticity, while the width of the free end of the tongue can be dimensioned so that the tongue is still flexible enough to be after snapping into its snap-in position, at least approximately the entire surface rests against the inside of the outer leg of the cover rim collar in order to be supported by the latter over the tongue surface for additional stability.
  • a tongue can be formed in terms of area, which not only provides sufficient stability of the tongues against bending, but which, due to a larger width of the free tongue end, means that the lid has a much longer circumferential length than the tongue root this is kept in its locked position and secured.
  • the tongues are formed on the outside, but on the inside at the edge of the container lid opening, from there into this opening downwards towards the container bottom or to arrange by gluing or welding.
  • the locking lip would be designed as a tongue abutment on the inside of the inner leg of the cover rim collar. The tongues would then be when the container is closed by the lid, it is no longer accessible for willful manipulation and thus the snap-in protection is almost perfectly protected against such attempts to remove the lid.
  • the edge of the container lid opening can be flared.
  • a support surface that enables sufficient tightness can be created for a flexible seal to be arranged, for example, in the crown of the lid edge collar.
  • the container body 1 shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 approximately on a scale of 1: 1 is intended as a so-called "disposal box" for collecting, transporting and disposing of special medical waste in small dimensions and small amounts, such as, for example, cannulae of disposable syringes, and exists for disposal by burning from a thermoplastic. It has a circular cross-section and widens conically towards its upper end, at which it is open over the entire cross-section. To close the container lid opening 2 present in this way, a lid 3 is provided.
  • the lid 3 shown in section in FIG. 3 has an approximately U-shaped lid edge collar 4, the outer leg 5 of which, in the lid closing position shown, the edge 6 of the container lid opening 2 embraces.
  • the lid 3 also has a disposal opening 7 for special waste, which can also be closed by a lid (not shown), so that the disposal container closed with the lid 3 can be easily closed and opened again and again during waste collection without having to remove the lid 3, the intended purpose after the lid closure of the container body 1 should no longer be detachable from the latter.
  • the disposal container is provided with a locking device designed in the manner of a locking mechanism, which comprises two securing parts.
  • One securing part is formed by twenty-four snap-in elements in the form of tongues 8 pointing downwards.
  • they are arranged in a ring-shaped manner on the edge 6 of the container lid opening 2, at a distance of 15 ° from one another, from which they elastically project due to their material properties or that of the container body 1.
  • a much smaller angle between the individual tongues is also conceivable, which can further increase the securing of the cover in accordance with the larger number of tongues then possible.
  • the other securing part is - as an abutment for the tongues 8 - one on the inside at the lower edge of the outer leg 5 - as a support for the abutment - the cover edge collar 4 formed all around locking lip 9.
  • the acute projection angle of the tongues 8 formed with the container axis is approximately 30 ° when the container body 1 is not closed, while the outer leg 5 of the lid collar 4 is in one with the acute axis of the lid axis is only approximately 20 °.
  • the thickness of the tongues 8 decreases downward from its tongue root at the edge 6 of the container lid opening 2, from which they protrude in an arc shape with a radius of curvature that facilitates their bending when the lid 3 is placed on the container body 1 free end 8a towards, which additionally increases their own rigidity - with an elastic arrangement at the same time.
  • the locking lip 9 widens on its inner flank 10 to its base on the inner wall of the outer leg 5 of the lid collar 4, whereby the lid 3 without play under a certain tension exerted by the tension-loaded tongues 8 in its closed position on the edge 6 of the container lid opening 2 is held.
  • This training can also be used for a press fit e.g. arranged in the crown of the lid collar 4 flexible seal used for the germ-tight lid closure of the disposal container, the gem.
  • Fig. 1 flange-widened edge 6 of the container lid opening 2 could form a seal-supporting surface favoring the tightness.
  • a "disposal box" equipped with tongues 8 on the circular container lid opening even without an additional seal, e.g. is waterproof. This effect could be increased by reducing the angle between the individual tongues, i.e. by increasing their number.
  • the tongues 8 widen in a trapezoidal shape from their tongue root on the edge 6 of the container lid opening 2 to their free tongue end 8a.
  • an elastic arrangement on the edge 6 is ensured on the one hand due to a narrow tongue root, and on the other hand the engagement length of the tongues 8 on the locking lip 9 is increased.
  • the lid 3 can be pulled over the latching lip 9 with only short interruptions between the individual tongues almost uniformly over the entire circumferential length of the outer leg 5 of the lid rim collar 4 on the edge 6 of the container lid opening 2, which is its seat on the container body 1 and thus its Closure makes it very secure.
