Gemäß der Erfindung entspricht der Zwischenraum zwischen den zwei benachbarten Trockenzylindern der Nachtrockengruppe, der die mindestens eine Umlenkwalze zur Überbrückung des Zwischenraumes für den Fall, daß die Bahn nicht von einer in diesem Bereich des Bahnverlaufs angeordneten Streicheinrichtung zum Streichen, Pigmentieren oder Leimen behandelt wird und die mindestens weitere Umlenkrolle aufnimmt, höchstens zwei Durchmessern der Trockenzylinder. Dies erfordert nur nur eine geringe Vergrößerung der gesamten Maschinenlänge, so daß sich die Erfindung insbesondere für Umbauten bestehender Papiermaschinen eignet. Dadurch, daß eine Umschaltung der Bahnführung innerhalb eines Bereichs, der höchstens zwei Durchmessern der Trockenzylinder entspricht, vorgesehen ist, ist die Streicheinrichtung praktisch oberhalb dieses Zwischenraumes angeordnet. Vor der Streicheinrichtung befinden sich vorzugsweise Trockner, die vorzugsweise auf der Basis von Infrarotstrahlung oder Heißluft arbeiten.
