Definitions
- the invention relates to an air mattress with an upper surface, an approximately flat lower surface, a head-side front surface, a foot-side front surface and two side surfaces, the upper surface, spaced apart from both end surfaces, having an approximately flat central region for supporting the breast and which extends approximately parallel to the underside Stomach of a lying person; on the head side of the central region, following this, a channel runs transversely between these two side surfaces; and on the head side, adjacent to the channel, a support surface for the forehead of a lying person is arranged, the distance from the bottom of which is greater than the distance from the bottom of the channel to the bottom.
- Such an air mattress is known from American patent US-A-4 054 960.
- This air mattress has several disadvantages: if you want to tan on your back, you are uncomfortable on such conventional air mattresses.
- the invention aims at eliminating this disadvantage.
- the air mattress shown in the drawings has an upper side 1, an approximately flat lower side 2, a head-side front side 3, a foot-side front side 4 and two side surfaces 5.
- the upper side 1 has an approximately flat, approximately parallel to the underside, spaced from both end sides 3, 4 2 extending central area 6 for the support of the chest and stomach of a lying person.
- the top 1 has an arcuate depression with a support 9 for the forehead.
- the support 9 is deeper than the central region 6.
- the end region 10 surrounding the support 9 is the same height as or slightly higher than the central region 6.
- a channel 7 extends between the support 9 and the central region 6 transversely between the side surfaces 5, the base 8 of which is deeper than the support 9.
- a depression 11 extends over part of the width of the mattress to accommodate the legs.
- the foot-side end of the trough 11 and the two side areas 12 on the side of the trough 11 are of the same height as the central area 6.
- the central area 6 has a bevel 13 on both sides towards the channel 7.
- the top 1 and bottom 2 are connected to one another in a conventional manner by longitudinal and / or transverse walls and / or by tubular intermediate pieces and / or by stitching. Of these connections, a transverse wall 15 in the trough 11 is shown only schematically. Of course, the top and bottom 1, 2 between these connections are slightly bulged. The previously used term "just" is to be understood accordingly.
- the described design of the air mattress means that one can lie completely relaxed on the upper side 1 on the stomach. Due to the lower position of the support 9, the cervical spine is noticeably relieved; this completely avoids neck pain. The entire face (with the exception of the forehead), in particular the nose, is kept clear through channel 7 and fresh air flows around it. This enables completely unimpeded breathing and prevents or at least significantly reduces sweating on the face, where it is most unpleasant. Through the trough 11, the legs are slightly angled. This results in an unstressed, naturally curved spine (not a "hollow cross"), which prevents back pain will.
- the trough 11 also has the advantage that the feet can be held in their natural position by the inclination of the lower legs and the toes do not touch the ground. This avoids foot and toe pain.
- the bevels 13 ensure that the arms can be conveniently placed on the side of the mattress, because they are slightly angled, both forwards and backwards (tanning the underside of the arms).
- the air mattress is also to be used in water, it can be expedient to partially or completely close off the air duct 7 laterally by means of webs 14, which is indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIGS. 4 and 5. This ensures that the nose can be kept dry and the mattress is more stable.
- the trough 11 - as indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 5 - has the same depth 16 in its entire extent, this depth approximately corresponding to the distance that the base 8 of the channel 7 from the top 6 has. This not only prevents the user's thighs and lower legs from resting on the mattress and thus sweating of the legs, but also gives the mattress a simpler, more harmonious appearance.
- the air mattress according to the invention not only prevents, but also alleviates discomfort when lying in the prone position. Because the anatomically correct shape of the mattress is one noticeable relief of the cervical and spine, the mattress is a real help especially for those suffering from back and rheumatism. Even people with only "weak" backs - which quickly tire and hurt - will greet the new mattress for occasional rest.
- the mattress can be used very well as a bed cover, on the couch or anywhere else in the apartment.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an air mattress with an upper surface, an approximately flat lower surface, a head-side front surface, a foot-side front surface and two side surfaces, the upper surface, spaced apart from both end surfaces, having an approximately flat central region for supporting the breast and which extends approximately parallel to the underside Stomach of a lying person; on the head side of the central region, following this, a channel runs transversely between these two side surfaces; and on the head side, adjacent to the channel, a support surface for the forehead of a lying person is arranged, the distance from the bottom of which is greater than the distance from the bottom of the channel to the bottom.
Such an air mattress is known from American patent US-A-4 054 960. This air mattress has several disadvantages: if you want to tan on your back, you are uncomfortable on such conventional air mattresses. The invention aims at eliminating this disadvantage.
- daß der Abstand der Auflagefläche von der Unterseite kleiner ist als der Abstand des Mittelbereichs von der Unterseite;
- that the distance of the support surface from the bottom is smaller than the distance of the central area from the bottom;
- that on the head side, adjoining the support surface, an end region extends whose distance from the underside corresponds at least to that of the central region from the underside; and
- that on the foot side adjoining the central region extends over a part of the width of the mattress a trough for receiving the legs of a lying person, the foot end of the trough being at a distance from the underside approximately equal to that of the central region.
Further advantageous embodiments of the invention result from the claims in conjunction with the examples and the drawings.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of an air mattress;
- Figure 2 and 3 side views of the mattress with a lying person;
- Figure 4 is a plan view of a mattress according to Figure 1; and
- FIG. 5 shows a section along the line VV in FIG. 4.
When sunbathing prone to tan your back, it is practically impossible to achieve a breathless and comfortable body position on a conventional air mattress. If you want to keep your nose free in order to breathe freely, you are forced to cross your arms under your forehead, with the result that your neck and arms hurt after a short time because your head is pressed back and your arms should be pressed up in the shoulders. In addition, the back hurts when lying on the stomach for a long time because the back spine is forced into a "hollow back" by the evenly horizontal support. Finally, the feet and toes also hurt because if they should not hit the floor vertically and therefore painfully, they have to be turned off.
The air mattress shown in the drawings has an
To achieve the described shape of the
As illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3, the described design of the air mattress means that one can lie completely relaxed on the
If you want to lie on your back or on your side, the air mattress is turned over so that the almost
If the air mattress is also to be used in water, it can be expedient to partially or completely close off the
It may also be expedient for production-technical reasons that the trough 11 - as indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 5 - has the
The air mattress according to the invention not only prevents, but also alleviates discomfort when lying in the prone position. Because the anatomically correct shape of the mattress is one noticeable relief of the cervical and spine, the mattress is a real help especially for those suffering from back and rheumatism. Even people with only "weak" backs - which quickly tire and hurt - will greet the new mattress for occasional rest. The mattress can be used very well as a bed cover, on the couch or anywhere else in the apartment.
