- the suction cups as shown, for example, by EP-B1-0 069 230, have a ball-and-socket joint, the individual bowls with their spherical outer surface being seated in a hemispherical shell of the lifting-stamp head part, which, although it can be swiveled on all sides, but only has a very small swivel range brings with it and thus limits the possibility of customization.
- the desired smooth movement of the pivoting movement for the attachment of the suction cups to very thin-walled and flexible workpieces is often inadequate and leads to local deformations of the workpiece when applied.
- the desired swiveling behavior of the suction cups requires a high precision of the spherical surfaces of the ball joint, which means that a corresponding manufacturing outlay is inevitable.
- the invention is therefore based on the object to eliminate these deficiencies and to provide a vacuum cleaner of the type described which can be manufactured relatively easily and is distinguished by its mobility and its large swivel range.

- the universal joint can also be produced with a high degree of accuracy in a rational manner, and a vacuum suction cup is created with a smoothly movable suction cup, the height and inclination of which can be optimally adapted to the respective workpiece shapes and positions.
- the universal joint is encased by an elastically flexible sleeve which is tightly connected both to the head part and to the attachment part and, on the one hand, an air line leading through the lifting ram and on the other hand a passage bore of the suction cup open into the inside of the sleeve.
- a cuff which can be designed, for example, as a simple, helical spring-loaded hose or the like, results in a functionally reliable line connection from a vacuum or compressed air source to the suction cup, since the suction cup itself also depends on the passage bore, the cuff interior and the air line in the lifting ram after connecting the air line to a vacuum or compressed air source, these sources can be subjected to negative or positive pressure.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner for machining-appropriate support and clamping of workpieces, with a height-adjustable lifting ram, which carries a head part for the articulated reception of a suction cup that can be pressurized.
For clamping spatially preformed thin-walled workpieces or workpieces with a curved surface u. The like. Work tables which have adjustable vacuum cups have already proven themselves, since these vacuum cups can be adapted to the respective workpieces with the aid of their height-adjustable, articulated-supported suction cups and can therefore also hold workpieces of complicated and delicate shape with sufficient strength and stability for machining to be carried out. The suction cups, which are positioned correspondingly in height, can be pivoted relative to the lifting rams carrying them, so that they can also follow the inclination of the workpiece surface in each case and ensure a solid support. However, so far, the suction cups, as shown, for example, by EP-B1-0 069 230, have a ball-and-socket joint, the individual bowls with their spherical outer surface being seated in a hemispherical shell of the lifting-stamp head part, which, although it can be swiveled on all sides, but only has a very small swivel range brings with it and thus limits the possibility of customization. In addition, due to friction, the desired smooth movement of the pivoting movement for the attachment of the suction cups to very thin-walled and flexible workpieces is often inadequate and leads to local deformations of the workpiece when applied. In addition, the desired swiveling behavior of the suction cups requires a high precision of the spherical surfaces of the ball joint, which means that a corresponding manufacturing outlay is inevitable.
The invention is therefore based on the object to eliminate these deficiencies and to provide a vacuum cleaner of the type described which can be manufactured relatively easily and is distinguished by its mobility and its large swivel range.
The invention solves this problem in that the suction cup on the punch side has an attachment part which is connected to the head part of the lifting punch via a universal joint. The universal joint provides the suction cup with firm, stable support and enables low-friction, all-round pivoting of the suction cup with a sufficiently large swivel angle. The universal joint can also be produced with a high degree of accuracy in a rational manner, and a vacuum suction cup is created with a smoothly movable suction cup, the height and inclination of which can be optimally adapted to the respective workpiece shapes and positions.
It is particularly advantageous if the universal joint is encased by an elastically flexible sleeve which is tightly connected both to the head part and to the attachment part and, on the one hand, an air line leading through the lifting ram and on the other hand a passage bore of the suction cup open into the inside of the sleeve. Such a cuff, which can be designed, for example, as a simple, helical spring-loaded hose or the like, results in a functionally reliable line connection from a vacuum or compressed air source to the suction cup, since the suction cup itself also depends on the passage bore, the cuff interior and the air line in the lifting ram after connecting the air line to a vacuum or compressed air source, these sources can be subjected to negative or positive pressure. In addition, due to the elasticity of the cuff, there is a sufficient restoring force for the suction cup, which practically always returns the unloaded suction cup to a central starting position practically without impairing the pivoting mobility and prevents an initial pivoting position which is unfavorable for a new adaptation movement of the suction cup to a workpiece.
In the drawing, a vacuum cleaner according to the invention is illustrated in more detail, for example, in an axial section.
The universal joint connection between the
