Abstract

A ski-binding has a front jaw, a heel-retainer and a linking element made of two partial sections. The front jaw is slidingly mounted in a guide rail fixed to the ski and can be set at predetermined positions. The guide rail has a locking element for fixing the front partial section. In order to allow the guide rail (7) for the front jaw (6) and the front partial section (3a) of such a ski-binding to be linked into a single unit for the purpose of transportation at the factory already, the front partial section (3a) of the linking element (3) has a covering (9) with at least two catching elements (9a, 9c) capable of engaging corresponding recesses (7f, 7c) of the guide rail (7). In vertical planes, the two catching elements (9a, 9b) work in opposite directions.

Description

Eine derartige Skibindung ist bekannt aus US-A-5 056 808.The invention relates to a ski binding according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a ski binding is known from US-A-5 056 808.

A similar ski binding is known from products on the market and is disclosed, for example, in the "ess news Catalog 1988 (published on the occasion of ISPO '88 in Munich), as well as in DE-OS 31 09 754 and DE-GM 82 05 134. In this version The connecting element is divided for the purpose of being able to adapt the binding to different shoe sizes. For this reason, one section of the connecting element had a type of toothed strip with which two bolts of the other section, flattened on one side, could be brought into or out of engagement For this adjustment of the ski binding, the cover had to be removed and put back on after the change had been made, using a screwdriver to remove the cover and to lock and unlock the bolts.

In the ski binding according to AT-PS 392.215, which has an undivided connecting element, a square pin is attached to the underside of the guide rail for the toe piece, which snaps into a square hole in the connecting element, which also has a row of holes with circular cross sections. This measure does not provide a permanent connection between the guide rail and the connecting element.

The brochure of the company Tyrolia 91/92 (No. 009072-12 / 90, distributed from February 28th to March 3rd, 1991 at ISPO '91 in Munich) describes a ski binding in which the metal band is halved to make packaging easier is divided. The end of one section bears two downwardly projecting bolts, each with a head, to which two keyhole-like recesses are assigned at the end of the other part. However, this configuration was intended for use with a toe piece that was fixed on the ski was attachable. Furthermore, the rear section of the metal band carries the heel holder.

The invention has for its object to provide a ski binding in which the guide rail for the toe and the front section of the connecting element can already be connected to a unit for transport. In addition, the advantage of the connecting element consisting of two halves, as before, is to be retained.

Starting from a ski binding according to the preamble of claim 1, this object is achieved according to the invention by the features of the characterizing part of this claim. Because the guide rail and a cover, which is operatively connected to the front section of the connecting element, are mutually locked, a permanent but releasable connection of these components is ensured. The use of a connecting element with a cover is known from US Pat. No. 5,056,808.

The idea of connecting two elements to one another by means of a tongue-like latching part is already known, as shown in AT-PS 356.561. But it is a sole pad and not a ski binding.

The subject matter of claim 2 ensures that, after the guide rail and cover have been latched, undesired displacement and pivoting of these parts or of the connecting element relative to the guide rail is prevented. Claim 3 contains a particularly advantageous embodiment.

In principle, it would be possible to arrange the resilient tongue on one side of the guide rail and the snap hooks on the other side of the two latching members. However, this would lead to an asymmetrical loading of the guide rail and cover or connecting element. The measure of claim 4 ensures a uniform loading of the parts mentioned.

The features of claim 5 facilitate the assembly of the guide rail and cover.

The measure of claim 6 ensures that the cover is guided relative to the front section in a simple manner.

The features of claim 7 allow the cover to be shifted from the unlatched to the latched position and vice versa while maintaining predetermined limits.

The features of claim 8 ensure that the two sections of the connecting element are joined together in the correct manner.

In the drawing, an example embodiment of the invention is shown. 1 is a vertical longitudinal central section through the ski binding, in which the front jaw and the heel holder are only shown schematically, and FIG. 2 is a detail of the front section of the ski binding according to FIG. 1 on a larger scale, FIG. 3 is a plan view of FIG the front cover, Figure 4 is a plan view of the front portion of the connecting element and Figure 5 is a plan view of the guide rail. FIGS. 6 and 7 show a top view of the guide rail, the front section of the connecting element and the cover, the individual components in FIG. 6 being assembled but not yet locked, whereas in FIG. 7 the individual components are already locked and also the connection area of the rear section is indicated.

In the drawing, a ski binding arranged on a ski 2 is designated in its entirety by 1. The ski binding 1 comprises a connecting element 3 designed as a metal band, a heel holder 4 which is guided in a guide rail 5 fastened to the ski 2 by means of screws 8b, and a toe piece 6 which is fastened in a further guide rail 7 which is fastened to the ski 2 with screws 8a is adjustable and lockable. The guide rail 5 of the heel holder 4 is connected to the metal band 3, wherein the heel holder 4 can be locked in different positions relative to the metal band 3. The metal strip 3 consists of a front section 3a and a rear section 3b. A cover 9 made of plastic is placed on the front section 3a.

The guide rail 7 has three bores 7a for receiving the fastening screws 8, as well as a series of bores 7b, in one of which a cylindrical locking pin of the front jaw 6 can optionally snap into place. At the rear end of the guide rail 7, two holes 7c are cut out, the purpose of which will be explained in more detail. Furthermore, at the rear end of the guide rail 7 there is a recess 7d which is open to the rear. A projection 7e extends in the middle of this recess 7d. There is a rectangular recess 7f in the projection 7e, which lies approximately in the same transverse plane as the two bores 7c. A snap hook 9a arranged on the cover 9 snaps into the recess 7f from above.

A square pin 7g is located on the guide rail 7 approximately between the two mutually opposite bores 7a. In the middle of the guide rail 7 is a rectangular recess 7h recessed, the front narrow side 7h₁ carries a cranked downward and rearward hook 7i.

The front section 3a of the metal strip 3 is assigned to the guide rail 7. This subsection 3a has a rectangular recess 3c at its front end, which is delimited at its front end by a cross-shaped, upwardly bent web 3d which forms an expression. In the assembled state of the ski binding 1, this web 3d rests on the hook 7i of the guide rail 7. At a distance from the recess 3c there is a square hole 3e in the front section 3a, into which the square pin 7g of the guide rail 7 engages as soon as the guide rail 7 and the front section 3a of the metal strip 3 are assembled. The front section 3a is tapered at its rear region 3f and provided with a casing 10.

On the front of the cover 9 there are two horizontal lugs 9b which extend upwards Carry locking pegs 9c which snap into the holes 7c of the guide rail 7 from below when the guide rail 7 and the front section 3a are assembled. In order to facilitate the engagement, both the locking pins 9c and the snap hooks 9a are chamfered on their front sides. At its front and at its rear end, the cover 9 carries a pair of mutually directed tabs 9d, which guide the cover 9 on the front section 3a or on its casing 10. The displacement path of the cover 9 on the front section 3a is determined in one direction by the end face of the casing 10 and a shoulder 9e of the cover 9 and in the other direction by the shoulder of the taper 3f of the front section 3a on shoulders of the shoulder 9e . This displacement path is necessary in order to snap the snap hook 9a into the rectangular recess 7f of the guide rail 7 and the two locking pins 9c of the cover 9 into the bores 7c of the guide rail 7 or to be able to unlock them from the latter.

In the rear end of the casing 10 there is a flat recess 10a which is rectangular in view from below and in which a projection 10b is provided at a front corner. With this projection 10b cooperates in the assembled state of the front and rear sections 3a and 3b at the front end portion of the latter cutout 3b₁ together. This configuration prevents the rear section 3b of the metal strip 3 from being rotated by 180 ° with the front section 3a.

Two bolts 11, which carry heads 11a, are fastened in the metal strip 3 in the region of the recess 10a of the casing 10. In the suspended state of the two sections 3a and 3b of the metal strip 3, these bolts 11 engage in keyhole-like recesses in the rear section 3b. This position is indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG.

When assembling the guide rail 7 with the front section 3a of the metal strip 3, the cover 9 is first placed on the front section 3a, the cover 9 being attached to this section 3a by the tabs 9d to be led. Subsequently, the unit consisting of the components 3a and 9 is pushed under the guide rail 7 until its square pin 7g engages in the square hole 3e of the front section 3a and the cranked web 3d comes to rest on the hook 7i.

In order to secure the components 3a and 9 against falling apart, the cover 9 is pushed forward somewhat, whereby it is locked relative to the guide rail 7 by the two locking pins 9c and the snap hooks 9a. This completes the assembly of the unit of components 3a and 9 for transport and assembly. If, for whatever reason, the ski binding 1 is removed and disassembled from the ski 2, the guide rail 7 is first detached from the ski 2 and the two sections 3a, 3b of the metal strip 3 are separated from one another. Subsequently, the snap hook 9a is removed from its recess 7f and, on the other hand, the two locking pins 9c are simultaneously removed from their bores 7c by spreading, then the cover 9 is pulled off the guide rail 7 in the longitudinal direction.

The invention is not restricted to the exemplary embodiment shown. Rather, various modifications are possible without leaving the scope of the invention. For example, it would be conceivable to arrange on the cover only two locking elements that are opposite one another and act against each other in vertical planes.
