Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for cleaning closing heads in a device for closing containers with crown caps according to the preamble of claim 1 and a device suitable for carrying it out.
  • Bottles with crown caps or similar crimp caps are used in particular in the beverage industry, where they are followed by filling devices.
  • the closing devices usually have a plurality of closing heads, which are arranged all round in the manner of a carousel and are loaded with crown caps during the circulation.
  • the bottles are closed with the crown corks when the closing heads are aligned with the mouths of the bottles, which are conveyed on a path coinciding with the circular path of the closing heads.
  • a method of the type mentioned is apparent from DE-PS 32 27 244, in which a rinsing liquid is let into the gap between the punch and the guide bore through flow openings opening into this space, which is drained downwards out of the gap space and the latter at least partially flushed out.

  • This embodiment has the advantage that the lower end region of the closing head, which is most at risk of contamination, is subject to particularly effective cleaning, in that, on the one hand, the widening of the gap space and, on the other hand, intensive purging of this gap space prevent dirt from settling.
