Description

  • La présente invention a trait à un procédé de décoration par sublimation d'une encre sur toute la surface d'un objet, quelle que soit sa forme (voir EP-A-0014615). Le demandeur est propriétaire d'une demande de brevet EP-A-0451067 qui décrit un procédé pour le transfert par sublimation d'un dessin imprimé sur une feuille de papier et une machine pour sa mise en oeuvre. A la suite de différents essais, il a été remarqué que la décoration des objets de formes courbes, sphériques, ou ovoïdes entraînait certains inconvénients lors de la mise en place de la feuille papier. Ces inconvénients résident essentiellement dans le fait que la feuille papier ne supporte aucune déformation suivant ses axes principaux. Cette contrainte provoque des irrégularités dans le recouvrement de l'objet par la feuille papier.
  • Ces irrégularités sont dues au fait que la feuille papier se plisse ou se froisse lors de sa mise en place par le vide autour de l'objet à décorer. Au moment de la sublimation, ces plis se transfèrent sur la surface de l'objet, provoquant une détérioration de la qualité du dessin reproduit.
  • Cette détérioration se traduit soit par une discontinuité du décor, soit par des portions de dessin décalées les unes par rapport aux autres, affectant la qualité du décor reproduit.
  • En conclusion, la feuille de papier à sublimer couramment utilisé dans ce procédé de décoration empêche donc de réaliser par traitement les objets de formes sphériques, courbes ou ovoïdes.
  • C'est à cet inconvénient qu'entend plus spécialement remédier la présente invention.
  • Le procédé suivant l'invention se caractérise en ce qu'il consiste :
    • a utiliser comme support d'encre sublimable un matériau suffisamment extensible et perméable à l'air pour pouvoir s'adapter à la forme de l'objet à décorer sans risque de détérioration du décor à sublimer ;
    • à envelopper l'objet dans le support d'encre sublimable afin que toutes ses faces soient recouvertes ;
    • à placer l'ensemble dans une machine sous vide connue en soi qui est elle-même introduite dans un espace chaud pour provoquer le transfert du décor sur toute la surface de l'objet à décorer.
  • Le procédé de décoration suivant l'invention est mis en oeuvre grâce à un support d'encre réalisé en un matériau extensible comme par exemple un tissu, un tricot, ou une feuille de matière non tissée.
  • Ce matériau extensible est recouvert sur l'une de ses faces d'une encre sublimable représentant le décor à transférer. L'objet de forme quelconque est enveloppé dans le matériau extensible de manière que la face recouverte d'encre soit directement en contact avec les faces à décorer dudit objet. Ainsi, lorsque l'objet comporte des formes courbes ou sphériques, le matériau extensible s'allonge suivant ses axes géométriques de manière à envelopper parfaitement la surface de l'objet. Le matériau extensible est plaqué sans pli et sans froissement sur l'objet lors de la mise sous vide de la machine à sublimer décrite dans la demande EP-A-0451067 du demandeur.
  • Après sublimation, on remarque que le transfert du décor sur les surfaces courbes, sphériques ou ovoïdes de l'objet est d'une régularité et d'une constance remarquable.

Claims (2)

  1. Procédé de décoration de la surface d'un objet par sublimation d'encre, caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste :
    - à utiliser comme support d'encre sublimable un matériau suffisamment extensible et perméable à l'air pour pouvoir s'adapter à la forme de l'objet à décorer sans risque de détérioration du décor à sublimer ;
    - à envelopper l'objet dans le support d'encre afin que toutes ses faces soient recouvertes ;
    - et à placer l'ensemble dans une machine sous vide connue en soi qui est elle-même introduite dans un espace chaud pour provoquer le transfert du décor sur toutes les faces de l'objet à décorer.
  2. Support d'encre sublimable pour la mise en oeuvre du procédé suivant la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce qu'il est constitué, en combinaison, d'un matériau extensible tel qu'un tissu, un tricot, une feuille de matière non tissée et d'encre sublimable.
