Description
The invention relates to a half mask with a connection opening for a filter, with a resilient half mask body with a sealing edge and a fixed filter holder encompassing the half mask body with a band.
A half mask of the type mentioned has become known from DE-C1 40 17 336. The known half mask has a half mask body with a sealing edge, which is inserted into a filter holder. A filter is attached to the filter holder in the mouth area. The filter holder extends from the mouth area to the cheek area of the half-mask body and lies freely on the half-mask body. The inhalation takes place via an inhalation valve, and the exhalation runs via an exhalation valve, which is buttoned into the half-mask body in the chin area. A strap is attached in an eyelet of the filter holder, with which the half mask can be attached to the head of an equipment carrier.
In the known half mask, the tightness between the mouth and the environment is determined by the geometry and the rigidity of the sealing edge, the resilience of the half mask body and the lateral support of the half mask body by the filter holder. A soft mask body or soft sealing edge increases the wearing comfort, but worsens the mechanical stability, while a high rigidity of the mask body or the sealing edge is perceived as unpleasant when the half mask is worn.
The filter holder in the cheek area on the half mask body only brings about a certain lateral stabilization of the half mask body, while there is no direct interaction between the filter holder and the sealing edge which is decisive for the tightness of the half mask.
A half mask known from GB-PS 761 263 consists of a flexible half mask body, in which a filter holder with a filter is inserted in the mouth area. In the area of the sealing edge of the half-mask body, a wire helix is vulcanized into the mask body in order to give the sealing edge a corresponding stiffness. The wire helix can be roughly adapted to the face contour of the mask wearer.
Although the known half mask is given increased rigidity in the area of the sealing edge by the wire helix, however, the half mask can only be worn by a specific mask wearer because of the individually curved wire helix. This complicates handling in practical use, since the individual preformed half-masks would have to be individually returned to the mask wearer after device reprocessing.
The invention has for its object to improve a half mask in such a way that, in addition to good wearing comfort, it also has a high level of tightness with different face shapes.
The object is achieved in that the half-mask body has at least in the cheek area and in the nose area a substantially circumferential support means, which is designed in the cheek area as a first paragraph, as a stop for a first end face of the filter holder, and in the nose area a second paragraph, as Stop for a second end face of the filter holder, and that the end faces and the shoulders are brought into engagement with the half mask by the band in a manner supporting the sealing edge.
The advantage of the invention consists essentially in the fact that the half mask body is stiffened in the area of the sealing edge in that an essentially circumferential support means on the mask body is brought into engagement with the end faces of the fixed filter holder when the half mask is attached by the tension of the straps, and the Sealing edge or the half mask body can therefore be made of a particularly flexible material, for example a pliable elastomer, since the sealing edge is supported by the filter holder lying on the support means. The defined attachment of a support means to the half-mask body also makes it possible to adapt the rigidity of the sealing edge to the respective area of the half-mask body. The rigidity can be influenced, for example, by changing the distance of the support means to the sealing edge, or by a certain geometry of the support means in cooperation with the end face of the filter holder. Adhesive layers can expediently be present between the support means and the associated end faces of the filter holder, by means of which the sealing edge of the half-mask body is additionally fixed in the filter holder, for example if the tension of the straps is not yet fully effective when the half mask is put on. Special embodiments of the filter holder are a first filter holder for a filter with a screw thread and a second filter holder for a respiratory protection filter with a round thread. The differences between the two embodiments relate only to the special one Connection of the respective filter types. The filters are directly attached to the connection opening of the filter holder. The support means is designed in the cheek region of the half-mask body as an essentially circumferential first shoulder, as a stop for a first end face of the filter holder. When the half mask is placed on the face of the mask wearer with the banding, the sealing edge in the cheek region is supported by the first shoulder, in that the first end face of the filter holder lies against the first paragraph by the pulling of the banding. The support means in the nose area is designed as an essentially circumferential second shoulder, which can have a bead-like design and directly abuts a second end face of the filter holder. In the nose area of the half-mask body, a bellows-shaped deformation zone can additionally be attached, in order to adapt the half-mask body to the nose region of the mask wearer.
The first paragraph is expediently designed as an oblique, funnel-shaped surface in the transition region between the sealing edge and the half-mask body, and the first end face of the filter holder is designed in the region of the first paragraph to correspond to it.
The half-mask body advantageously has in the chin region a support lip facing the filter holder as a support means, which is supported against a third end face of the filter holder. The support lip essentially supports the half-mask body in the chin area in the radial direction.
The filter holder is expediently designed such that it integrally forms the nose area, encompasses the cheek area and the chin area of the half mask body. The filter holder is thus an outer, stabilizing and supporting shell for the limp half-mask body. The filter holder can be made essentially cylindrical and is therefore particularly inexpensive to manufacture as a molded part. The half mask body can be provided with an inhalation valve which can be buttoned into the connection opening of the filter holder. In this way, simple assembly and disassembly of the half mask body is possible without tools. In the case of a second filter holder for a respiratory protection filter with a round thread connection, the buttoned valve housing surface of the inhalation valve is at the same time a sealing surface for the round thread. In this way, a separate sealing ring is saved because the round thread of the respiratory protection filter is sealed directly with the valve housing surface of the inhalation valve. The exhalation valve is expediently attached in the chin area of the half mask body. Since the exhalation valve is covered by the filter holder in the assembled state, exhalation openings are provided in the filter holder below the exhalation valve. The filter holder also serves as a shock protection for the exhalation valve in this area.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the figure and explained in more detail below.

The first half mask (1) shown in FIG. 1 consists of a half mask body (2) with a circumferential sealing edge (3), an inhalation valve (4) and an exhalation valve (5).
The inside of the half mask body (2) can be divided into a nose area (6), a cheek area (7) and a chin area (8). In the nose area (6) there is a bellows-like deformation zone (9), for better adaptability of the nose area (6) to the face contour of the mask wearer. The half-mask body (2) is enclosed in a capsule-like manner by a cylindrical first filter holder (10) made of solid material, in which a filter (12) is fastened with a cover (11). The filter (12) is sealed with a sealing ring (122) within the first filter holder (10). The first filter holder (10) has a connection opening (13) into which the inhalation valve (4) of the half-mask body (2) is buttoned. The Half mask (1) is cut along the cutting line (24), whereby the inhalation valve (4), the exhalation valve (5) and the filter (12) become visible. The filter (12) is designed as a so-called screw filter and is rotated against the sealing ring (122) when it is inserted into the first filter holder (10). Inhalation takes place through openings (not shown in the figure) in the cover (11), the filter (12) and the inhalation valve (4), while the exhalation takes place via the exhalation valve (5) and exhalation openings (14) in the first filter holder (10) becomes. A strap (16) is fastened in an eyelet (15) of the first filter holder (10). A corresponding eyelet is located on the opposite side of the first filter holder (10) and is not shown in FIG. 1. The strap (16) is used to fasten the first filter holder (10) together with the half mask body (2) and the filter (12) to the face of a mask wearer (not shown in FIG. 1). Since the filter (12) is attached directly to the first filter holder (10), the inherent weight of the filter (12) is transferred to the face of the mask wearer via the sealing edge (3) and no bending moments act on the half-mask body (2).
In the transition area between the sealing edge (3) and the half-mask body (2), a first shoulder (17) in the form of an oblique, funnel-shaped surface is provided in the half-mask body (2) in the cheek area (7), which is on a correspondingly designed first end face (18) of the filter holder is present. The inclined surface is generated in that the first end face (18) is angled slightly outwards. A corresponding first paragraph (17) and a first end face (18) are on the opposite side the half mask (1) attached, but not shown in Figure 1. When the half-mask (1) is put on, the tension of the band (16) causes the first shoulder (17) to rest against the first end face (18). The first paragraph (17) is the support means of the half mask body (2) in the cheek area (7). A second shoulder (19) is provided in the nose area (6) as a support means, against which a second end face (20) of the first filter holder (10) abuts. The support means in the chin area (8) of the half mask body (2) is a support lip (21) which bears on a third end face (22) of the first filter holder (10). The half-mask body (2) is designed as a flexible elastomer and is connected to the first filter holder (10) in such a way that the inhalation valve (4) is buttoned into the connection opening (13) of the first filter holder (10). The first shoulder (17) comes to rest on the first end face (18), the second shoulder (19) on the second end face (20) and the support lip (21) on the third end face (22). Due to the interactions between the shoulders (17, 19), the support lip (21) and the end faces (18, 20, 22), the sealing edge (3) is given the necessary stability to fit the face of the mask wearer, not shown in the figure. The use of a pliable elastomer for the half mask body (2) or the sealing edge (3) results in a high level of comfort.
Figure 2 shows the half mask (1) according to Figure 1 in vertical section. The same components are identified by the same reference numerals in FIG. 1.
Same Components are identified by the same reference numbers in FIGS. 1 and 2. The round thread (32) is sealed off from the second filter holder (33) via the valve housing surface (23) of the inhalation valve (4) buttoned into the connection opening (13). Compared to the filter (12) according to FIGS. 1 and 2, a separate sealing ring (122), FIG. 1, is not required for the second half mask (30). The second filter holder (33) differs from the first filter holder (10) in that a threaded connector (34) is provided for receiving the round thread (32).
