Description

The invention relates to a lock with a removable rotary key, in particular for the door of an electrical appliance cabinet or cabinet, comprising a rosette for fixing to the wall of the door, said rosette having a cylindrical housing, a cylinder rotatably mounted in said housing and having an internal end projecting from said rosette on the side of the wall and cooperating with a locking member and an external drive end, and a key of shape combined with that of said external end to cooperate by interlocking with the latter and to rotate it from a closed position of the lock to the open position and vice versa; the lock further comprising a collar defining a restricted entry section, adapted to that of the key, said collar comprising a notch providing a passage for a retaining lug projecting from the external periphery of the key, said notch being positioned relative to to said cylinder in such a way that in the open position of the lock, the lug is trapped behind the collar and prevents the key from being removed, while in the closed position the lug is opposite the notch for allow the installation and removal of the key.

A lock of the kind mentioned is described in document EP-A-175,211. This type of lock requires a key to open and close the box, while not being a security lock, significantly more complicated. These locks, hereinafter called square drive locks, allow the locking system to be controlled, which can be a simple cam or a gearbox, or any other operating locking system.

The object of the present invention is the production of an improved lock, the key of which controls opening and closing by a simple rotation and makes it possible to exert on the door a tensile force to open the latter.

The lock according to the invention is characterized in that the external end of the cylinder is constituted by a prismatic end-piece, that the lock comprises a retaining sleeve threaded on the cylinder and having projections which cooperate with conjugated parts of the cylinder to position axially the sleeve relative to the cylinder, while allowing rotation of the latter, the sleeve being immobilized in rotation relative to the housing, and that said sleeve has at its end the collar, which is folded inwards from the sleeve.

In the closed position of the door and the lock, the key can be removed and no protruding part of the door remains. The opening is carried out in the usual way, by insertion and rotation of the key, and the latter, retained in the lock, allows the door to pivot by exerting a tensile force on the key.

The lock advantageously uses standard elements, to which has been added a retaining sleeve threaded onto the cylinder and held axially on the latter. This holding is achieved by fingers which extend along the generatrix of the sleeve, and have at their end a spout engaged in a circular groove of the cylinder. The sleeve is fixed to the cylinder by snap-fitting, while after inserting the cylinder / sleeve assembly in the rosette housing, the retaining fingers are immobilized by the internal periphery of the housing, preventing any disengaging. The sleeve also carries immobilizing fingers similar to the snap-on fingers, but of greater length, which during the positioning of the cylinder / sleeve assembly in the housing, engage in grooves made in this housing to immobilize the sleeve in rotation. The rosette or base is generally fixed to the external part of the door, while the cylinder passes through an orifice made in the door, and carries on the internal part the locking system, for example a simple cam, fixed by a screw. which at the same time maintains the cylinder in the rosette housing. The locking system can of course be of a different type, in particular with a cremone bolt housing. When mounting the lock, it is sufficient to take care to bring the lugs of the key opposite the notches of the socket, when the locking cam and the cylinder are in the closed position. Keying devices can facilitate assembly. The key advantageously carries two diametrically opposite lugs, and the gripping end is arranged as a handle, facilitating traction on the key to open the door.

Other advantages and characteristics will emerge more clearly from the description which follows, of an embodiment of the invention, given by way of nonlimiting example and represented in the appended drawings in which:

Figure 6 is a view similar to that of Figure 3, showing the cylinder / socket assembly fitted on the rosette.

In the figures, a rosette or base 4 has on one of its faces 4a, threaded blind holes 4b receiving fixing screws on the external face of the door of an electrical switchgear cabinet (not shown). Perpendicular to the face 4a extends a cylindrical housing 4c with three stepped sections 4d, 4e and 4f, the smallest section 4f being on the side of the face 4a, pressed against the wall of the door. A cylinder 3 of shape combined with that of the housing 4c is fitted into the latter, projecting by its end 3c from the face 4a of the rosette 4. The opposite end 3d internal to the section 4d of the housing 4c is arranged as a nozzle prismatic, in this case in triangular tip or as shown in Figure 1, as an alternative, with square tip 3d. At the base of the 3d nozzle is provided a grooved collar 3a, the cross section of which is smaller than that of the part 4d of the housing 4c to provide an annular space for a retaining sleeve 2. The sleeve 2 of generally cylindrical shape has at one of its ends a collar 2d folded inwards and confining a cylindrical orifice 2e. Two diametrically opposite rectangular notches 2c are formed in the internal edge of the collar 2d. In the part of the sleeve 2 opposite the collar 2d extend along the generatrices, several holding fingers 2a distributed along the circumference, and the free end of which is shaped as a snap-on spout 2f. The length of the holding fingers 2a corresponds to the height of the large section 4d of the housing 4c, while two fingers are of greater length to constitute immobilizing fingers 2b.

In the latched position on the cylinder 3, the diameter of the sleeve 2 corresponds to that of the large section 4d, and the cylinder 3, sleeve 2 assembly can be inserted into the housing 4c. Immobilizer fingers 2b engage in two grooves 4g, formed in the intermediate section 4e of the housing 4c. On the face 3c, there is provided a threaded hole 3e capable of receiving a screw 6 for fixing a locking member, for example of a cremone bolt case 5, generally disposed inside the box being applied against the wall Door. The cremone bolt housing 5 is secured for example by the screws screwing into the orifices 4b at the rosette 4, and it can be seen that the fixing screw 6 maintains the cylinder 3 in the housing 4c. A key 1 has on one side a handle in the shape of a handle 1b, and on the opposite side a cylindrical section 1a of diameter corresponding to the orifice 2e confined by the collar 2d. The key 1 has two diametrically opposite lugs 1c, and of shape combined with the notches 2c. The cylindrical section 1a is hollowed out in its center to form a housing of shape conjugated to the end piece 3d, in which the latter is housed when the key 1 is inserted into the socket 2. For the introduction of the key 1, the lugs 1c must be aligned with the notches 2c and the 3d tip must be in a position allowing the key 1 to fit onto this 3d tip. According to the invention, this position corresponds to the closed position of the locking system 5. In the closed position of the lock, the key 1 can be fitted onto the 3d nozzle, and the pins 1c come at the rear of the collar 2d, allowing a rotation of the key 1 to open the lock. In this open position, the lugs 1c are retained by the collar 2d and the key is maintained and cannot be removed. By cons, it is possible to exert traction on the key 1 which is transmitted to the door to cause it to open. In the open position of the lock, the key is trapped, which is hardly annoying. The closure is effected by a reverse closing operation of the door and a rotation of the key 1 again bringing the lugs 1c opposite the notches 2c. In this closed position of the lock, the key can be removed, the projection of the lock then being extremely small. The sleeve 2 is immobilized in rotation by the fingers 2b, in order to maintain the position of the lugs 2c, but this immobilization does not hamper the rotational movement of the cylinder 3, thanks to the groove 3a, in which slide the snap-fit nozzles 2f. Any risk of disengaging the socket 2 under the tensile force exerted by the key 1 is excluded, by the hooping of the immobilizing fingers 2a, by the internal wall of the housing 4c.

The retaining sleeve 2 is an extremely simple part, capable of being associated with other types of locks. The invention is of course in no way limited to the mode of implementation more particularly described, but it extends to all variants remaining within the framework of equivalences, in particular to that in which the retaining fingers would be snapped into a groove made in the housing 4c, or that in which the sleeve 2 is secured to the rosette 4 by any suitable means.
