- Printing plates are clamped on the front edge by means of a clamping device, placed around the plate cylinder and inserted and tensioned with the rear edge in a clamping and tensioning device. Since the inking rollers roll on the plate cylinder, the clamping device for the front edge as well as the clamping and tensioning device for the rear edge must be below the outer surface of the cylinder. For the detection of the printing plate, it is therefore necessary to fold or bend it so that the printing plate can be received in the fastening devices for the front and rear edges.
