Description

The invention relates to a machine for cleaning bottles or the like. According to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a machine is already known, in which two sections of the endless conveyor are arranged next to each other at the same altitude with opposite transverse movement at a distance (DE-OS 28 44 126 or GB-A-2 005 641). The two sections have different bases and each turn of the endless conveyor is equipped with its own housing. This design is extremely space-consuming and complex.

The invention is based on the object, in a generic machine for cleaning bottles or the like. To significantly reduce the space requirement and the structural outlay without sacrificing the treatment path.

This object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.

The arrangement of the various sections of the endless conveyor according to the invention makes it possible to increase the treatment distance several times with the same footprint. In the simplest case, two sections are arranged one above the other; however, it can also be multiple sections. The transverse movement is understood to be the movement component of the endless conveyor that results essentially perpendicular to its translational movement due to the thread pitch of the spiral.

A particularly compact and simple construction results if the areas with opposite transverse movement have the same base area and are arranged directly one above the other in a common, preferably cuboidal housing.

A number of other developments of the invention, which show advantageous designs of the endless conveyor in the superimposed areas, are specified in claims 2 to 9 and 19.

A wide variety of treatment devices can be attached without problems along the endless conveyor in the at least two areas one above the other. According to the developments of the invention according to claims 10 to 13, the lowest area is used for a larger cleaning solution bath, for example hot lye, in which the endless conveyor, including the bottles, has been completely immersed for a longer time, while the area above for smaller immersion baths, eg for water baths, as well as for spraying stations. In this way, excellent cleaning of reusable bottles of all kinds is possible.

Various designs are possible for the endless conveyor. According to the development of the invention contained in claim 14, the endless conveyor is formed by two parallel flexible traction means and bottle baskets articulated thereto transversely to the direction of rotation, for receiving one row of bottles each. If the bottles are held in the bottle baskets in a conventional manner by stationary guide rails, bottles of all types, both made of glass and plastic, can be treated.

Should only reusable plastic bottles, e.g. PET bottles are cleaned, so it is appropriate, in accordance with the developments of the invention contained in claims 15 to 18, to fix the bottles in the baskets by means of clamping members acting in the neck area. This results in an enormous reduction in construction costs and an optimal cleaning effect due to the largely free body of the bottle.

The machine according to FIGS. 1 to 4 is set up for cleaning reusable PET bottles 37 - hereinafter called bottles for short - which have a projecting support ring below the bottle head. The machine has a box-shaped or cuboid housing 18, each with two parallel end, side and bottom or top surfaces, which is constructed in a conventional manner from firmly connected, partially detachable plates and by means of several feet on the bottom of a bottling plant is set up in a horizontal orientation.

In the area of the two end faces of the housing 18, two horizontal shafts 23 to 26 are rotatably mounted parallel to each other in a vertical plane one above the other. Six pairs of lower deflection wheels 20 and 21 in the form of gearwheels are each fastened to the two lower shafts 23 and 25 which are at the same height. On the upper shafts 24 and 26, which are at the same height, seven pairs of upper deflection wheels 19 and 22 are fastened in the form of gear wheels. The deflecting wheels are arranged in a total of seven vertical double planes, which are aligned parallel to the longitudinal sides of the housing 18 and are arranged at the same distance from one another. The double levels and the associated deflection wheels are provided with the index "a" to "g". In the foremost double plane "g" there are two additional deflection wheels next to one another at the same height in the height range between the lower deflection wheels 20, 21 and the upper deflection wheels 19, 22 in the middle of the long side 27, 28 with axes aligned parallel to the shafts 23 to 26 freely rotatable. At least the two shafts 23, 24 arranged on the same end face of the housing 18 are continuously driven synchronously with one another by a geared motor 38 or the like at the same speed and the same direction of rotation.

An endless conveyor 17 for the bottles 37 is guided over the deflection wheel pairs. This has two parallel, endless roller chains 29, the rollers of which are guided in the area between two deflection wheels on horizontal, straight running rails 39. The running rails 39 are fastened either on the longitudinal sides of the housing 18 or on supports 40 arranged in the interior of the housing 18. Between the two roller chains 29, a plurality of bottle baskets 30 are fastened transversely to the direction of movement in a horizontal orientation, each of which holds a row of four bottles 37.

Die Halterung ist relativ lose, damit die Reinigungslösung eindringen kann.3 and 4 show, each bottle basket 30 is designed as a bar-like molded part with four parallel bottle cells 32 which are adapted to the bottle neck. The bottle head and the bottle body protrude from the bottle cells 32. In the area of the bottle head, a clamping member in the form of a plate 31 is mounted in the longitudinal direction between two end positions, for example by means of bolts 40 and elongated holes 41, on the flat end face of the bottle basket 30. The plate is provided with four keyhole-like openings 33, the larger area of which the passage allows a bottle head and its smaller area approximately the diameter of the Bottle neck below the support ring corresponds or is slightly larger than this. In the not shown right end position of the plate 31, the larger areas of the openings 33 overlap with the corresponding opening of the bottle cell 32 for the bottle head. In this position, the bottle 37 can be led into and out of the bottle cell 32. In the left end position shown, in which the smaller area of the opening 33 overlaps with the bottle cell 32, the bottles are held by the plate 31 below the support ring and can therefore not get out of the bottle cells 32. The holder is relatively loose so that the cleaning solution can penetrate.

The plates 31 are transferred between their two end positions by means of fixed curve pieces 34 and 35 which run obliquely to the direction of movement. The one curve piece 35 which transfers the plates 31 from the clamping position shown into the release position (not shown) is arranged in the area of the bottle dispenser 16. The other curve piece 34, which transfers the plates 31 from the release position into the clamping position, is arranged in the area of the bottle application 1. The curve pieces 34, 35 engage directly on the edge surfaces of the correspondingly rounded plates 31. A fixed guide 36, which is arranged along the circulating area of the endless conveyor 17 in the treatment stations and which fixes the plates 31 in the clamping position, also acts on this edge area. Additional locking elements for the plates 31 are therefore not required and the construction of the bottle baskets 30 and their clamping members is extremely simple and reliable.

A bottle feed 1 and a bottle delivery 16 are arranged on the front long side of the housing 18. The bottles 37 to be cleaned are fed by a horizontal conveyor belt 41, which ends just before the machine center, and are removed by a further horizontal conveyor belt 42, which begins just before the machine center. The two conveyor belts 41, 42 lie within the foremost double plane "g", are arranged at the same height and are continuously driven at the same speed as the endless conveyor 17 in the direction of the arrow. By means of a one-piece device of conventional design, not shown, the bottles 37 are formed in parallel groups of four on the conveyor belt 41 in accordance with the arrangement of the bottle cells 32 in the bottle baskets 30, in such a way that one row of bottles in each case meets a bottle basket 30 in the area of the bottle feed 1 . The bottles with their head and neck areas penetrate completely into the bottle cells 32 until the bottle head protrudes again from the bottle cell 32. In this area, the plate 31 is transferred from the release position to the clamping position by the fixed curve piece 34. Conversely, in the area of the bottle delivery 16, the plates 31 arriving in the clamping position are transferred from the locking position into the release position by the fixed curve piece 35, so that the bottles come to rest freely on the conveyor belt 42. Then the endless conveyor with the bottle baskets 30 is guided away obliquely upwards from the conveyor belt 42, so that the bottles 37 can emerge from the bottle cells 32 downwards.

The endless conveyor 17 runs within the double plane "g" at an angle from the underside of the deflection wheel 19g to the conveyor belt 41, passes through a short horizontal area on the curve piece 34, then loops around the additional deflection wheel 28 and extends obliquely upwards to the deflection wheel 19f. From this, the endless conveyor 17 runs vertically downward to the deflection wheel 20f and further from its underside within the double plane "f" to the underside of the deflection wheel 21f. After he has bypassed it by 180 degrees, the endless conveyor 17 runs obliquely from the top of the deflection wheel 21f out of the double plane "f" into the double plane "e" to the top of the deflection wheel 20e. It wraps around it and runs from its underside to the underside of the deflection wheel 21e. In a corresponding manner, the endless conveyor 17 continues to wind through the double planes "d", "c", "b" into the double plane "a". The lower run of the endless conveyor 17 runs inside or parallel to a double level, while the upper run runs obliquely from one double level to the other.

From the deflection wheel 21a, the endless conveyor 17 extends vertically upwards to the deflection wheel 22a and from the top thereof to the top of the deflection wheel 19a. It wraps around it by 180 degrees and runs from its underside out of the double plane "a" at an angle into the next double plane "b" to the underside of the deflection wheel 22b. It wraps around this by 180 degrees and runs from its top inside the double plane "b" to the top of the deflection wheel 19b. In a corresponding manner, the endless conveyor winds through levels "c", "d", "e" to level "f". The upper run of the endless conveyor 17 runs in each case parallel or within the double levels, while the lower run continues obliquely to the adjacent double level. From the top of the deflection wheel 22f, the endless conveyor runs obliquely downwards and obliquely out of the double plane "f" into the double plane "g" to the top of the additional deflection wheel 27. It wraps around it and then runs horizontally from the underside thereof in the region of the curve piece 35 the double level "g" and then obliquely upwards to the underside of the deflection wheel 22g. It wraps around it and then runs from its top inside the double plane "g" to the top of the deflection wheel 19g.

By guiding the endless conveyor 17 as described above, the interior of the housing 18 is fully utilized and, in addition to a very long treatment route, the bottles 37 are also easily fed and removed through the areas within the bottle task 1 which run obliquely downwards or obliquely upwards or the bottle dispenser 16. As shown in FIG. 2, seen from above, the movement paths of the endless conveyor 17 overlap in the lower area A defined by the lower deflecting wheels 20, 21 and in the upper area B defined by the upper deflecting wheels 19, 22. In the lower area A screws the endless conveyor in the manner of a spiral in the horizontal direction away from the front of the housing 18, while in the upper region B it screws in the manner of a spiral to the front of the housing 18. The transverse movement indicated by the arrow X in region A and the transverse movement of the endless conveyor 17 indicated by the arrow Y result in region B.

In order to prevent reinfection of the cleaned bottles 37, a partition 43 is arranged between the bottle feed 1 and the bottle delivery 16 in the area between the two additional deflection wheels 28, 27. In addition, for easy adaptation to different bottle heights, both the mounting of the deflection wheel 27 and the mounting of the deflection wheel 28 are designed to be height-adjustable, in each case together with a short horizontal guide rail (not shown) for the horizontal circulation area of the endless conveyor 17.

The bottles 37 coming from the bottle feed 1 are turned over and first pass through a device 2 for emptying and pre-spraying. Then they are immersed in the cleaning solution bath 3, which is filled with hot alkali and comprises the entire lower area A of the endless conveyor 17 with the double levels "a" to "f". There, the bottles 37 remain completely submerged for about 7 minutes, with the movement of the bottles 37 resulting in a strong cleaning effect. The bottles then run upwards into area B at 5, are turned over and emptied at 6. Then they pass through a spray 7 with cleaning solution and then, after dripping at 8, immerse them in a first water bath 9. Similarly, further sprayings 10, 12 and 14 with water and immersion baths 11 and 13 with water follow. At 15 there is a final dripping of the bottles before they reach the bottle dispenser 16.

In the upper area B the upper run of the endless conveyor 17 runs within the corresponding double level.

The fixed or oscillating spray pipes of the different sprayings are arranged there. The lower dreams run diagonally from one double level to the other. The correspondingly inclined immersion baths are arranged there.
