Description

The invention relates to a web cleaning system for cleaning a web to be printed before it runs into the printing unit of a web printing machine.

The web can be cleaned on one side or on both sides.

Dust and other dirt particles are deposited on the web to be printed, especially if the web is electrostatically charged due to friction or other influences. Such dirt particles deteriorate the print quality and reduce the service life of the printing blankets (blankets) and the printing unit.

Alu bzw. Kunststoff beschichtet sein.Known devices for cleaning the web before the web is printed in a printing unit consist of suction nozzles, the dirt particles from both sides of the web suck off. It is also possible to use brushes to brush off the web. Both known possibilities have the disadvantage that they scratch the surface of the web and thereby fibers of the web are raised, which are then torn off in the printing unit and adversely affect the printing blanket and the printing quality. The web to be printed is usually a paper web. However, the web can also consist of other materials or be coated with, for example, aluminum or plastic.

The object of the invention is to improve the print quality, to extend the operating time until the printing blankets are cleaned, and to extend the service life of the printing blankets and the printing units by avoiding dirt particles.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the characterizing features of claim 1.

Further features of the invention are contained in the subclaims.

Fig. 1 shows schematically in dash-dotted lines a printing unit 2, to which a web 6 to be printed is fed in the direction of arrows 8 from a feed unit 4. Of the feed mechanism 4, only two transport rollers 10 and 12 transporting the web 6 are shown. A web cleaning system 14 is integrated in the feed mechanism 4 and serves to clean the printing web 6 to be printed on one side 16 of the web section 18 located between the rollers 10 and 12. The printing web 6 to be printed can be made of paper or another material or a multi-layer web consist of the same or different materials. For example, the web 6 to be printed can be a paper web coated with plastic.

The web cleaning system 14 contains a washing cloth 20 which is approximately as wide as the printing web 6 to be printed. The washing cloth 20 can be a single-layer or multi-layer cloth and consists, for example, of wool, leather or preferably non-woven. It is important that the washcloth 20 consists of such a material or is of such a nature that it can store liquid on its side 22 to be applied to the printing web 6 and this liquid forms a lubricating film on contact with the printing web 6 and the transfer of Dirt particles from the printing web 6 supported on the washcloth 20. The washcloth 20 has a very long length and is unwound from a clean cloth roll 24 and wound onto a dirty cloth roll 28 driven by a motor 26 in the direction of an arrow 30. During the winding process, the wash cloth section 32 located between these two rollers 24 and 28 can be lifted off the printing web 6.

A positioning device 34, which contains a membrane 36, which is expandable in the direction of the web section 18, and a compressed air source 38 are used to contact the washcloth section 32 with the web section 18 and for decontacting. Compressed air from the compressed air source 38 generates a pressure in a pressure chamber 40 which urges the membrane towards the web section 18. The membrane 36 is elastic, so that when the pressure in the pressure chamber 40 is reduced, it recedes from the web section 18 and thereby causes the washcloth section 32 to be decontacted from the web section 18. The washing cloth is preferably not wound onto the roll of dirty cloth by the motor 26, but is kept at a standstill when it contacts the printing web 6 to be cleaned and subsequently printed in its section 18. At least a small relative movement for the wiping action is required between the wash cloth 20 and the printing web 6. This relative movement can be generated by the movement of the printing web 6 relative to the fixed washing cloth 20 or by movements of the printing web 6 and the washing cloth 20. The cleaning effect is enhanced if, according to the invention, the washcloth 20 is moist, at least in its washcloth section 32, on its side 22 facing the printing web 6. The washcloth 20 can already be damp on the cleaning cloth roll 24. At the in However, the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 is that the portion of the washcloth 20 wound on the cleaning cloth roll 24 is dry, and only the washcloth portion 32 is moistened with liquid, preferably water, by a moistening device 42, which is automatically next applied to the membrane 36 by the motor 26 moved and then contacted in this position with the web section 18. The membrane 36 extends over the entire width of the washcloth 20 and thus also over the entire width of the printing web 6. The moistening device 42 moistens the washcloth 20 over its entire width. The moistening device 42 can be a tube 44 with a plurality of nozzles 46, through which a contact liquid, preferably water, is applied, eg sprayed, onto the washcloth section 32, which is next moved onto the membrane 36. Wetting or impregnation of the washcloth 20 is also possible through an essentially pressure-free supply of liquid, for example via a slit opening, or according to the wick principle, self-sucking.

So that the dirt particles wiped from the wash cloth 20 from the printing web 6 cannot fall into the inlet gap between a roller, for example the roller 12 of the feed mechanism 4, and the printing web 6, the arrangement according to FIG. 1 is made such that the web section 18 is different up and down, and the washcloth section 32 moves from the bottom up. However, the washcloth 20 is preferably only moved when it does not contact the printing web 6. However, it is also possible to transport the washcloth 20 while it is in contact with the printing web 6, even if it is in the contact position shown in FIG. 1, but there must always be a relative movement between the printing web 6 and the washcloth 20 if there is a "wiping effect". should be achieved.

On the printing web 6 there are particles deposited by gravity and, if the printing web 6 is electrostatically charged, also dirt particles held by electrostatic attraction. The print web 6 is electrically discharged for better cleaning action and also to avoid subsequent subsequent contamination. This discharge takes place via the contacted wet washcloth section 32 to an earth connection 48. The earth connection 48 can e.g. be formed by an electrode extending transversely to the washcloth and touching the wet washcloth 20. Because of the moisture and due to dirt, the dirt side of the washcloth 20 is highly conductive. So that the electrode 48 does not wipe off the dirt, it can be arranged on the clean side of the washing cloth 20 according to FIG. 1.

In the further embodiment according to the invention shown in FIG. 2, the wash cloth 20 is an endless belt 20/2, which runs over rollers 51, 52, 53 and 54, of which the roller 51 is driven by a motor 56, for example. The rollers 52 and 54 serve as positioning means in that they can be moved by an adjusting device 58 perpendicular to the web section 18 relative to it for contacting the washcloth section 32 with this web section 18. The moistening device 42 is used to moisten the washcloth section 32. A grounding connection 48 again serves to ground the washcloth section 32. The endless washcloth 20/2 can circulate several times. It is expedient to clean the washcloth 20/2 before each cycle using a cleaning device 60. The cleaning device 60 can Suction nozzle 61 on the dirt side and / or a blow nozzle 63 on the clean side of the washcloth 20/2 and / or a rotating brush 62 which gives dirt particles brushed off from the washcloth 20/2 into a collecting container 64.

The web section 18 of the printing web 6 is advanced or moved back by the second positioning means 66 in accordance with the double arrow 68 shown in FIG. 2.

In the further embodiment of a web cleaning system according to the invention shown in FIG. 3, the printing web 6 to be printed is shown as a solid line in its position, in which it contacts the washcloth 20 in the washcloth section 32, and also in dashed lines in the position at which they do not contact the washcloth 20. If no machine parts are arranged below the washcloth section 32, which contacts the web 6, or for any other reason there is no danger that dirt particles falling off the washcloth section 32 can result in machine parts becoming soiled, then the web 6 can also correspond to an arrow 70 be moved up instead of down. For contacting and decontacting, the second positioning means 66 from FIG. 2 can again be provided in the embodiment shown in FIG. 3. 3 is running the washcloth section 32 to be contacted with the printing web 6 via a perforated guide plate 72 with a multiplicity of bores 74 through which the water 76 sprayed by nozzles 46 is distributed to a long moistening washcloth section 78 against the direction of movement of the washcloth 30. The washcloth 20 has a very large finite length and runs from a clean cloth roll 24 to a dirty cloth roll 28. However, the guide plate 72 can also be used in connection with an endless wash cloth 20/2 from FIG. 2. The baffle 72 can be provided with the ground connection 48.

The positioning means for positioning the washing cloth 20 or 20/2 relative to the printing web 6, or the printing web 6 relative to the washing cloth 20 or 20/2, can, in addition to the means mentioned, also be pneumatic cylinders, hydraulic cylinders, eccentrics and springs.

The web cleaning system 14 is preferably switched on and off at the same time and automatically when the printing unit 2 is switched on and off. Contacting and de-contacting the washcloth 20 or 20/2 with the printing web 6 is likewise carried out automatically in specific time periods.

In Fig. 4 sind der Fig. 1 entsprechende Teile mit gleichen Bezugszahlen wie in Fig. 1 versehen.FIG. 4 shows an embodiment of a web cleaning system in which a wash cloth 20 (or 20/2) is arranged on each of the two web sides 16 and 116 of the web 6 to be printed. In FIG. 4, parts corresponding to FIG. 1 are provided with the same reference numbers as in FIG. 1.

The printing web 6 is guided over the rollers 10 and 12 on one path. The wrap angle over which the Printing web 6 wraps around or contacts the rollers 10 and 12 and the washcloth section 32 can be varied by positioning the rolls 10, 12 and / or the washcloth section 32.

The moisture content of the printing web 6 can be measured by sensors 80, 81 before cleaning and by sensors 82 and 83 after cleaning. Depending on the measured moisture content, the supply of dampening liquid to the printing web 6, e.g. via the moistening device 42, controlled or regulated. An electrically highly conductive liquid is preferably used to moisten the printing web 6, e.g. Water or a liquid suitable for offset printing.
