Gemäß Fig. 1 passieren sämtliche zur Verladung bestimmten Fahrzeuge auf einer Zufahrtsstraße 1 zur Verladerampe 7 zunächst eine Höhen- und Breitenkontrolleinrichtung 2. Beim Durchfahren der torähnlichen Konstruktion wird mit seitlichen, vertikal zur Fahrbahn angeordneten Abtastsensoren 3 die Fahrzeughöhe gemessen. Dies kann mit sichtbarem oder unsichtbarem Licht, Ultraschall oder auch mechanisch erfolgen. In gleicher Weise kann über horizontal angeordnete Abtastmittel 3' eine Breitenerfassung erfolgen. Nach Überschreiten einer maximal zulässigen Höhe oder Breite des Fahrzeuges oder Gespannes wird der Fahrer an einer Weiterfahrt zum Abfertigungsterminal bzw. der Verladerampe 7 gehindert. Dies kann mit einer Schranke oder durch Lichtsignale erfolgen. Im vorliegenden Fall erfolgt die Ausweisung z.B. durch einen aufleuchtenden Richtungspfeil "Ausfahrt" an einem nachgeordneten Portal 3a. Der Pfeil verweist auf eine Ausfahrt 4, die das Fahrzeug in den Straßenverkehr zurück ausschleust. Fahrzeuge, die unbeanstandet die Höhen- und Breitenkontrolleinrichtung 2 passieren, werden durch einen Richtungspfeil "Zufahrt" am Portal 3a auf der Zufahrtsstraße 1 weitergeleitet in Richtung Verladerampe 7 und gelangen gemäß Fig. 2 zu einem Abfertigungsterminal 5/6. Am Ende der Meßschleuse 5 befinden sich in einer überdachten Durchfahrt seitlich Fahrausweisautomaten 6, die parkscheinautomatenähnlich per Druckknopf bedient werden können. Ein oder mehrere Druckknöpfe - z.B. mit Angabe der Zielbahnhöfe - können vom Fahrer betätigt werden, um einen Fahrausweis, vorzugsweise Magnetkarte, zu erhalten. Das Ergebnis der Fahrzeuglängenmessung wird ebenso auf dem Fahrausweis vermerkt, wie ein daraus durch einen Rechner ermittelter Fahrpreis-Grundbetrag für das Fahrzeug. Für die Fahrpreisermittlung kann auch eine zusätzliche Gewichtsmessung herangezogen werden.
