Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and an apparatus for processing acoustic information that is audible an interpreter becomes.
- Conference interpreters sit in the simultaneous transmission several languages in soundproofed cabins. You hear mainly the speakers' and interpreting directly into your target language. So listen and so speak at the same time.
- a conference interpreter finally turns up delivers the speech of a speaker to his cabin.
- boundary conditions certainly include the age of the Interpreter, whose skill to understand words, however also damage to his hearing.
- the sound pressure level of the signal received by the speaker drown out the interpreter's voice. The louder one So the interpreter speaks, the higher the turn Sound pressure level of the received signal can be set, to ensure proper interpreting can.
- the damaging influences are not only from the Level of sound pressure level, but also on the type and Mode of action dependent.
- the conference interpreter their headphones often in different distances and Wearing orientations from the ear canal is a possible for a conference interpreter harmful sound pressure level for another conference interpreter no longer perceptible.
- the signal transmission means in the form of headphones essential in their efficiency from each other.
- US-A 4 257 273 describes a sound or noise measuring device e.g. for measuring a sound pressure level in road traffic.
- the measured sound pressure level is on a digital display in dB units.
- the acoustic signals received via a microphone processed electrical filters and several amplifiers and fed to a digital display device.
- the known noise meter with an alarm device equipped which always generates an alarm signal when the sound pressure level received at the microphone is one specified limit value for the ambient sound pressure level exceeds.
- the electronic processing of the received acoustic signals within the known noise meter also includes the usual calibration of the device by adjusting the gain of the signal as well as the Adjustment of sensitivity - i.e. of the respective measuring range - of the device.
- DE-A-1 547 063 describes a method for determining the interference index disclosed, i.e. to evaluate the over a longer measuring time continuously measured sound pressure level values, e.g. in traffic or aircraft noise monitoring.
- the level values measured in each case are converted into equivalents Frequency values converted and the number of periods these frequency values by means of a pulse counter during the predetermined measurement time. An attitude of Sound pressure level is not provided.
- the aim of the invention is to process acoustic Information in an interpreter's desk an interpreter to assist to damage his hearing to reduce.
- An achievement is then achieved in a method according to the invention or exceeding a previously set limit the sound pressure level of the transmitted acoustic Information displayed.
- the invention Device on a display device on reaching or exceeding the set limit of the sound pressure level the transmitted acoustic information is activated.
- Limit set for interpreting at the beginning of the Sound pressure level of the transmitted information can thus be checked at any time.
- the interpreter can be sure that a "rocking up” the sound pressure or volume level of the received Signal detected against his voice automatically can be. Such a "rocking up” could due to the following physiological effect in its harmful Effect is strengthened: the longer an interpreter works and the more tired he gets, the louder does he speak.
- the interpreter does not necessarily have an above-average one Self-discipline, so it becomes the sound pressure level of the signals supplied to the hearing and naturally also increase in damaging effect.
- the device according to the invention is the display device optically and / or acoustically (claim 8).
- This can Interpreters are shown when one is individual for him previously set risk or possibility of damage consists.
- the warning about the display device leads usually to the interpreter's greater care towards him own health.
- the interpreter is practically through Third parties indicated that damage is now possible is. A usual negligence towards your own Health by deluding or suppressing Facts become difficult for the interpreter.
- the acoustic signal to be received Transfer information to the interpreter using headphones and the limit of the sound pressure level as a function of each selected specific headphones (claim 2).
- the Using headphones is the usual technique simultaneous interpreting. Depending on different Factors such as the type of membrane, the Magnetic material, etc., headphones are very different strongly from each other.
- the limit of the sound pressure level from which specific damage is possible the respective headphone type can be set. According to today The limit of the sound pressure level should be experienced do not exceed about 94 dB.
- the this sound pressure level value the corresponding threshold voltage is in the interpreter desk adjustable.
- the one corresponding to a sound pressure level Audio frequency voltage is tapped at the output to the headphones. It is compared to the threshold voltage. Has the Audio frequency voltage reaches or exceeds the threshold voltage, this will be shown to the interpreter.
- Procedure is the length of time during which the Sound pressure level limit for the information received reached or exceeded, saved (claim 3). Suitable memories are provided for this (claim 9). Since acoustic damage is known to add up, it is essential to not just post individual damage Number and duration to save, but also their sum and Total duration. In this way, the interpreter at a certain total operating time the amount of total Damage appears, which in turn leads to another Can cause damage. The interpreter can control directly to what extent he is hearing within of a certain period of time. In an advantageous embodiment of the inventive method displayed when a predetermined The total of stored times has been exceeded (Claim 4). Control of the sum more damaging The interpreter is relieved of any effects.
- Procedure will be reached when it is reached or exceeded the predetermined sum of stored periods acoustic damage a certain Sound pressure level value automatically around a defined level lowered (claim 5).
- this is achieved by a Actuator for automatic reduction of the certain Sound pressure level value reached.
- the interpreter is relieved of the decision Sound pressure level value of the received signal sufficient to reduce. He needs to monitor damage do not take over his hearing himself, it takes place automatically.
- Fig. 1 shows a section of a known interpreter desk with the components essential to the invention.
- a well-known interpreter desk is in his Structure, for example, from DE-GM 87 06 262 of the applicant known.
- This section of an interpreter desk is used to refer to the components to be explained to describe the invention.
- the section of the interpreter desk shows one known input switch 1, a fifteen-stage Rotary switch 2, a pitch control 3 for bass, one Pitch adjuster 4 for treble and a volume adjuster 5, by means of which the volume or the sound pressure level an optionally connectable headphone is adjustable.
- these components can be modified as desired, insofar as they do not constitute the essence of the invention in the present case touch.
- a light-emitting diode is preferably 6 in of a color chosen by the interpreter when it lights up immediately catches the eye of the LED. This would be for example the colors yellow and red. By the choice of colors that usually indicate trouble spots, becomes unconscious to the interpreter if it is exceeded a certain limit of the sound pressure level danger signals.
- Fig. 2 is the operation of the invention Display device shown in more detail.
- the selected signal is first a headphone amplifier 10 fed. After amplification, the signal is sent over a line 11 fed to headphones 12.
- a node 13 which is preferably located at the exit to the headphones 12, becomes an audio frequency voltage corresponding to the sound pressure level tapped. This is via a line 14 fed to a comparator 15.
- To this audio frequency voltage To be able to process in comparator 15 is this connected to a threshold 17 via a line 16.
- this threshold 17 gives one certain limit for the sound pressure level also in Form of a corresponding audio frequency voltage. Indeed depends on the amount of the predetermined limit of the Sound pressure level from several boundary conditions.
- the sensitivity of the headphones 12 as well as the habits of the interpreter or his subjective acoustic sensation.
- the predetermined limit sound frequency voltage corresponding to the sound pressure level for threshold 17 also at the interpreter desk be easily adjustable.
- the signal supplied to comparator 15 via line 14 is with the predetermined signal of the threshold 17th compared.
- the limit value of the sound pressure level is set via a Line 18 activates the display device 6.
- FIG. 3 shows essentially the same components as FIG. 2. The explanation of the function of the same components will therefore not repeated again.
- one of the comparators 15 is reached when Exceeded a limit of the sound pressure level Signal not directly from the display device 6 fed.
- the signal first passes through a processor 20. This adds up the times during which the particular Sound pressure level value reached or exceeded is.
- the processor 20 issues the signal when it is reached or Exceeding the limit of the sound pressure level on the one hand to the display device 6.
- the Processor 20 via a line 21, an amplifier 22 and connected to a loudspeaker 24 via a line 23.
- warning tone could be used for safe perception for example for 10 seconds with a duration of about 0.5 seconds to the interpreter via the headphones 12.
- FIG. 4 shows yet another embodiment the invention. Again, there is no need to repeat the How the same components work.
- the microprocessor points 4 compared to the embodiment 3 an additional output. This output is via a line 30 with an actuator 31 connected. This is in turn connected via a line 32 connected to the headphone amplifier 10.
