Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a stepped terminal block comprising two support parts made of molded plastic material, each of which comprises a plurality of support bases, and a plurality of bars extending parallel to one another to connect the two support parts, the end of each bar coming to be fixed on a base of each support piece.
  • the support part is generally made in one piece.
  • the single support piece has two side walls connected by the bottom, this assembly defining an internal volume of the support piece.
  • a plurality of fastening elements are provided in the internal volume of the support piece, respectively in the vicinity of one and the other of the two side walls.
  • the bars are screwed at their two ends onto two corresponding fixing elements.
  • a terminal block of this kind has the disadvantage that the support piece is only suitable for a determined length of the bars.
  • This terminal block also has the disadvantage that the assembly of the bars on the support part is relatively complicated, slow and expensive, because it requires the precise positioning of the bars, then their screwing on the support part.
  • stepped terminal blocks according to the first part of claim 1 in which the support part is in two separate parts arranged on either side of the bars (see MERLIN GERIN low voltage distribution catalog, 1989, page A 193).
  • the bars are fixed at each end to one and the other of the two support parts so that the assembly constitutes a rigid structure which forms the terminal block.
  • This arrangement has the advantage of being able to use the same support parts for bars of different lengths.
  • the assembly thus assembled has the disadvantage of lacking rigidity and being relatively difficult to assemble because it is necessary to screw each end of the bar onto a housing. corresponding on the support parts.
  • the bars therefore have at their two ends a special threaded hole which allows fixing by screwing on the support piece, and therefore the bar can not be produced simply from a profile of any length and, after cutting to the desired length, it is necessary to machine these two tapped holes in the vicinity of the two ends of each bar.
  • terminal blocks using two separate support parts these are not designed in an identical manner because one of the parts has an external lateral wall situated to the left of the housings intended for fixing the bars and the other support piece has an outer side wall located to the right of the housings intended for fixing the bars.
  • the two support parts have a symmetry with respect to a median plane of the terminal block but are however not identical and cannot be produced from the same mold. Such a design therefore requires the production and management of two different categories of support parts, namely the right support parts and the left support parts.
  • Document FR-A 2,622,742 discloses an individual terminal block formed by the mounting of a conductive bar on a monobloc support sole made of insulating material.
  • the elongated sole has elastic snap-on feet on a profiled rail, and elastic fixing grooves on a flat iron.
  • the receiving face of the bar is arranged in a slide in which the slide can be slid on. Maintaining the bar on the support sole is provided at one end by an elastic retaining tab.
  • the various bars are positioned without their insulating soles between the two support parts in the form of flanges.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a stepped terminal block of simpler and more economical design.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide such a terminal block which can also use the same parts for different lengths of bars.
  • the invention therefore relates to a terminal block comprising two support parts, each of which comprises a plurality of support bases and a plurality of bars, each of which is fixed respectively on a base of each support part.
  • each base comprises, at its upper part, a first locking element and each bar comprises, at its lower part, a second locking element, said first and second locking elements cooperating to constitute a positive locking by snap-fastening.
  • said two support pieces are identical, each support piece having a plurality of bases positioned so that by having two support pieces spaced from one another and turned 180 ° one relative to the other, the respective bases of the two support parts are located one opposite the other in order to allow the attachment of several parallel bars between them.
  • the first and second locking elements constitute a mechanical connection of the slide and slide type, the base of the support part comprising the slide of said mechanical connection and the lower part of the bar comprising the slide of said mechanical connection.
  • a stepped terminal block 1 which comprises two perfectly identical support parts 2 and a number of bars 3 mounted at each end on one and the other of the two support parts 2.
  • Each support part 2 comprises several bases 4 whose structure and function will be explained in detail below.
  • One of the bases 4 of a support piece 2 is shown in Figure 1 enlarged, as seen through a magnifying glass.
  • Each base 4 receives one end of a strip 3, and this strip 3 is fixed on the base 4. This fixing constitutes a positive locking by snap-fastening, as will be clear from the description which follows.
  • the two support pieces 2 each further comprise an external side wall 5.
  • each support piece 2 is preferably made in a single piece of molded plastic which constitutes both the side wall 5 and the bases 4.
  • the two support pieces 2 which make up a terminal block are turned over with respect to each other so that each side wall 5 is directed outwards and the two side walls 5 together delimit an interior volume of the terminal block.
  • the terminal block may also include a cover 6, preferably made of transparent plastic, which at least partially closes the internal volume of the terminal block, by positioning itself at its lateral edges against the edges of the two lateral walls 5.
  • a part of a support piece 2 of the terminal block 1 can be distinguished.
  • the support piece 2 also has a sole 8 which serves both as a support for the bases 4 and for the side wall 5.
  • the sole 8 also has, on its rear part, that is to say on its underside, profiled grooves 9 so as to allow positioning of the sole 8 on different kinds of rails which can be positioned horizontally in a transverse direction between the two walls (5) (for example the rail 10) or vertically in a direction parallel to the walls 5 (for example the rails 11 and 12) .
  • FIG. 3 there can be seen, in cross section, the contours of the bar 3 and of the base 4.
  • the bar 3 is shown successively in three positions in order to illustrate the assembly or disassembly operation of the bar 3 on the base 4.
  • a first contour 3A of the bar illustrates its position at the start of its mounting on the base 4
  • a second contour 3B of the bar illustrates its intermediate position , during assembly
  • a third contour 3C illustrates the bar in its position completely mounted on the base 4.
  • the base 4 has at its upper part (that is to say by convention in its part directed upwards in FIG. 3) specific shapes which constitute a first locking element.
  • the bar 3 has, at its lower part (that is to say its part directed downwards in FIG. 3) other specific shapes which constitute a second locking element.
  • the first and second locking elements cooperate to form a positive latching locking (which will be described in detail below).
  • the base 4 has the general shape of a slide and the lower part of the bar 3 has the general shape of a slide.
  • the slider-slide assembly constitutes the mode of positioning and locking of the bar 3 on the base 4. This mode of coupling or of connection by slider and slide constitutes a particular embodiment of the invention, and it could be replaced by other assembly methods such as for example an assembly mode of the dovetail type.
  • the slide 19 of the base 4 consists on the one hand of a rigid part which comprises a flat and horizontal lower support surface 20, two guide surfaces 21, 22 mutually parallel and vertical and a retaining surface towards the top 23 located in the vicinity of the upper edge 24 of the surface of vertical guide 21.
  • the bar 3 has at its lower part a base which has the shape of a slide 26 which is adapted to be housed in the slide 19 of the base 4, that is to say in the interior space 19 delimited by the surfaces 20, 21, 22 and 23.
  • the slide 26 of the bar 3 has a lower surface and two lateral surfaces which come to bear substantially or close to the lower surface 20 and the vertical lateral surfaces 21 and 22 which together form the slide 19 of the base 4.
  • the slide 26 further comprises rear (or upper) side surfaces 28, 29.
  • the upper surface 29 abuts against or near the retaining surface upwards 23 of the base 4.
  • the other upper surface 28 of the slide 26 abuts against or near a retractable upward retaining element 30 which will be described below.
  • the retractable upward retaining element 30 forms a pawl which can be retracted or disengaged manually.
  • This retractable element 30 is composed of an elastic piece 31 connected at its lower part (not shown) to the base 4 and a stop 32 which is turned downwards and which is intended to come to bear on the surface directed upwards 28 of the slide 26.
  • the stop 32 is mounted on the free end of the elastic piece 30 and forms a hook or a pawl which locks the slide 26 when the latter is fully engaged in the slide 19.
  • the stop 32 of the retractable element 30 also has an inclined surface 34 which is arranged so that the pivoting of the bar 3 causes a sliding of a lower edge 33 of the slide 26 on the inclined surface 34 in order to move outwardly the retractable element 30 which then returns to the locked position when the slide 26 is fully engaged in the slide 19. In this position, the stop 32 returns close to or in abutment on the rear surface 28 of the slide 26 so to positively lock the bar 3 on the base 4. Unlocking the bar 3 can only be obtained by manually actuating the retractable element 30 so as to move it outwards in order to release the stop 32 from the slide 26 to allow its release by a pivoting in the opposite direction of the bar 3 around the point of contact between the surface 29 of the slide 26 and the surface 23 of the slide re 19.
  • the outward movement of the retractable element can be carried out manually using for example a screwdriver or another similar tool which makes it possible to cause the elastic part 31 of the retractable element 30 to flex.
  • the slider 26 further comprises a recess 35 formed in the lower bearing surface of the slider 26 and the slide 19 comprises in addition, a protuberance 36 formed on the lower surface 20.
  • the protuberance 36 is intended to fit into the recess 35 when the slide 26 of the bar 3 engages completely in the slide 19 of the base 4.
  • such a terminal block can be used in combination with electrical devices of the contactor or circuit breaker type 40.
  • the electrical devices 40 can be fixed laterally against the external wall 5 of the terminal block 1 by using fastening elements suitable, for example clips or jumpers 41. It is thus possible to group together a certain number of electrical devices 40 connected to each other, and this assembly can be fixed laterally on a terminal block 1.
  • a such cover 42 then makes it possible to completely protect all of the electrical devices 40 and the terminal block 1 in order to avoid any possible contact. the with a metal part under tension such as the wires 43 or the clamping screws contained in the holes 45.
  • the terminal block 1 can be arranged so as to leave lateral passages 48 between one end 3F of the bars 3 and a side wall 5A of a support piece 2.
  • This allows passage easy one or more electrical wires 49 in order to establish an electrical connection between such a wire and a rear strip.
  • bases 4A close to a side wall 5A correspond, on the other support piece opposite to other bases 4B which are distant from the corresponding side wall 5B, in order to provide this space 48 and that , while designing two perfectly identical support parts 2.
  • the stud 55 has the particularity of comprising at its lower part a fixing element similar to that which is formed in the lower part of the bars 3, as has been described above.
  • This stud 55 can therefore be mounted on any base 4 in the same way as a bar 3 is mounted on a base 4.
  • This stud 55 also has a through hole 56 which has both a square section allowing 'put on a classic bar 57 of square section and a rectangular section for threading a flat iron 58. Consequently, one can also constitute a terminal block according to the invention by having two support pieces 2 and mounting either flat irons 56 either conventional bars 57 on the pads 55, then mounting the pads 55 on the bases 4 of the support pieces 2. This also makes it possible to use the support pieces 2 according to the invention with conventional bars 57 or flat bars 58.
  • a terminal block 1 may include at the soles 8 of the support pieces 2 various grooves or other support and guide surfaces (not shown) for mounting the terminal block either straddling two rails 10 ( Figure 7) or vertically straddling a single rail 10 ( Figure 8) or horizontally straddling a single rail 10 ( Figure 9).
  • the support part 2 consists of a single piece of molded plastic which includes both the sole 8, the side wall 5, the bases 4 and all the parts which constitute the first locking elements.
