Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the field of liquid detergent compositions for washing clothes, in particular in a washing machine. More specifically, it relates to a concentrated liquid detergent composition which contains at least one polyphosphonate as sequestering agent.
  • Concentrated liquid detergent compositions is meant in the present description and the claims which follow liquid detergent compositions containing not more than 10% by weight of water and advantageously less than 5%.
  • Liquid detergents have grown considerably in recent years for a variety of reasons. Mention may be made of their easier dissolution in washing baths, their easier handling, in particular for their dosage and the pretreatment of stains.
  • liquid detergents do not contain a bleaching agent, to incorporate therein a system of agents sequestering di- and trivalent cations (in particular cations such as: Ca++, Mg+ +, Fe+++, etc.).
  • agents sequestering di- and trivalent cations in particular cations such as: Ca++, Mg+ +, Fe+++, etc.
  • Such systems can in fact largely compensate for the loss of performance inherent in the absence of peroxidizing bleaching agents by acting on bleachable stains by their direct effects (rupture of the fiber-dirt bonds) and indirect effects (prevention / peptization of complexes insoluble).
  • Cations such as Ca++ and Mg++, present in the washing bath - which come either from the washing water or from the soiling of the laundry to be washed - adversely affect the washing performance of the detergent compositions. Indeed, these cations can be at the origin of the formation of insoluble complexes which are deposited either on the elements of the washing machine, or on the linen and then give it a gray appearance. Said complexes result from interactions between said cations and the surfactants and / or soaps present in the detergent composition.
  • Sequestering agents prevent the formation of such complexes. They also have a direct effect on removing stains, by cutting the bonds that can form between certain types of soiling and textile fibers; connections made using Ca, Mg, Fe bridges.
  • the polyphosphonates which are of certain interest due to their effectiveness, even at relatively low levels. Said polyphosphonates have the property of adsorbing on the surface of the dirt particles by giving them negative charges. The recoalescence of said particles causing their redeposition on the fibers is thus avoided.
  • the polyphosphonates generally used, in liquid or pulverulent detergent compositions are the alkali metal, ammonium, alkanolamine or alkaneamine salts of polyphosphonic acids such as, for example, amino tri acid (methylene phosphonic acid ); ethylene diamino tetra- (methylene phosphonic acid); hexamethylene diamino tetra- (methylene phosphonic) or diethylene triamino penta- (methylene phosphonic) acid.
  • polyphosphonic acids such as, for example, amino tri acid (methylene phosphonic acid ); ethylene diamino tetra- (methylene phosphonic acid); hexamethylene diamino tetra- (methylene phosphonic) or diethylene triamino penta- (methylene phosphonic) acid.
  • EP-A-0 373 483 describes concentrated, liquid or pasty detergents, containing, as sequestering agent, the sodium salt of 1-hydroxyethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) ). Said detergents are not in the form of homogeneous solutions.
  • HEDP 1-hydroxyethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid
  • fatty acids involved in the detergent compositions of the invention can also play the role of anionic surfactants.
  • the anionic surfactants of the compositions of the invention are neutralized - prior to their introduction within said compositions or in these - conventionally, with at least one neutralizing agent, imperatively chosen from alkanolamines and C2-C al alkaneamines.
  • the use in significant quantity (for example greater than 1% by weight) of another type of neutralizing agent - alkali hydroxide, ammonia, ... - is excluded; its effect on the ionic strength of the medium being detrimental to the stability of the composition.
  • the use of 2-amino-2-methylpropan-1-ol (AMP) or amino-ethyl-propane-diol (AEPD) is particularly preferred.
  • Anionic and non-ionic surfactants provide a certain level of performance in removing stains, of a greasy nature in particular.
  • the fatty acids which are found in the form of soaps in the finished product, play the role of surfactants and participate in the sequestration of the Ca++, Mg++ cations which affect washing. They also participate in the compositions of the invention in the removal of spots of protein nature.
  • the detergent compositions of the invention contain from 6 to 10% by weight of said unsaturated fatty acids - which are necessary to obtain certain performances, on fatty spots in particular, and for obtain the physical stability over time of the compositions of the invention.
  • saturated fatty acids containing 8 to 22, and preferably 12 to 14, carbon atoms are used. They can be obtained from natural sources such as, for example, plant or animal triglycerides (for example, coconut oil (or coconut oil), palm oil, palm kernel oil, tall oil, castor oil, tallow, fish oils, fats and their mixtures) or can be prepared by synthesis (for example by oxidation of petroleum derivatives or by hydrogenation of carbon monoxide according to the process Fisher-Tropsch).
  • plant or animal triglycerides for example, coconut oil (or coconut oil), palm oil, palm kernel oil, tall oil, castor oil, tallow, fish oils, fats and their mixtures
  • synthesis for example by oxidation of petroleum derivatives or by hydrogenation of carbon monoxide according to the process Fisher-Tropsch.
  • saturated fatty acids capable of being used in the compositions of the invention, mention may be made of capric, lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, arachidic and behenic acids.
  • unsaturated fatty acids containing from 12 to 22 carbon atoms are used.
  • Preferred are monounsaturated fatty acids and particularly oleic acid.
  • unsaturated fatty acids capable of being used in the compositions of the invention there may be mentioned, in addition to said acid oleic, palmitoleic, linoleic, ricinoleic, linolenic acids.
  • Said fatty acids are neutralized - prior to their introduction into the compositions of the invention or within them - in a conventional manner, with at least one neutralizing agent chosen from alkanolamines and C2-C8 alkaneamines.
  • at least one neutralizing agent chosen from alkanolamines and C2-C8 alkaneamines.
  • the intervention in significant quantity (greater than 1% by weight) of any other type of neutralizing agent is excluded.
  • the neutralizing agents listed in the paragraph relating to said anionic surfactants are perfectly suitable for neutralizing fatty acids.
  • the same neutralizing agent (s) are used before or in situ for said fatty acids and said anionic surfactants.
  • AMP 2-amino-2-methyl-propan-1-ol
  • AEPD amino-ethyl-propane-diol
  • the single or mixed salts of HEDP are particularly preferred.
  • the sodium salt of HEDP - simple salt, expressly excluded - is insoluble in the compositions of the invention.
  • Said mixed salts (Na+ / alkaline earth metal) of HEDP are therefore implicitly excluded from the mixed salts involved (in significant quantity), possibly as a mixture, in the compositions of the invention.
  • the intervention of salt (s) of at least two different polyphosphonic acids is recommended, and more precisely the joint intervention of at least one salt of HEDP and at least one salt d another polyphosphonic acid.
  • Synergy is optimal when the HEDP salt (s) / polyphosphonate salt (s) ratio other than HEDP (expressed as active acid) is close to 1.5.
  • the mixed salts are obtained from known polyphosphonates - alkali metal, ammonium, alkanolamine or C2-C8 alkaneamine salts - by cold mixing with at least one alkaline earth metal salt, such as by for example magnesium chloride, calcium chlorides, sulfates, formates or acetates of calcium or magnesium.
  • alkaline earth metal salt such as by for example magnesium chloride, calcium chlorides, sulfates, formates or acetates of calcium or magnesium.
  • the salts are advantageously mixed before their incorporation into the detergent bases, in the form of very concentrated aqueous solutions.
  • the mixture of said solutions generates a homogeneous, transparent liquid, perfectly soluble in said detergent bases.
  • the amount of alkaline earth metal salt to be optionally used - advantageously for a pretreatment of the polyphosphonates - obviously depends on the amount of the polyphosphonates.
  • 0.01 to 0.1 g of salt is generally used (advantageously from 0.015 g to 0.05 g of salt).
  • alkaline earth salt 0.015 to 0.3% by weight of alkaline earth salt can be used in the compositions of the invention. In any case, enough salt should be used to obtain the expected result - dissolution of the sequestering agent in the detergent base - without saturating said sequestering agent which would then no longer be able to fulfill its function.
  • compositions transparent or slightly opalescent compositions, the phase stability of which is complete, even after prolonged storage (one month minimum) at temperatures between 20 ° C and 30 ° C and at pressure atmospheric.
  • compositions can contain, in addition, other ingredients such as enzyme (s), anti-redeposition agent (s), dye (s), opacifying agent (s), anti-foaming agent (s), optical brightener (s), perfume (s) ....

  • An organic solvent can also be involved.
  • the enzymes when present, are generally present at 0.2 to 5% by weight. They are chosen from enzymes of the protease, amylase, lipase, cellulase, glucose oxidase type.
  • protease intervention is always beneficial.
  • the said proteases can be chosen from those sold under the names: Eserase 8.OL® (NOVO), Savinase 16.OLDX® (NOVO), Savinase 8.OL® (NOVO), Maxacal L300® (GIST-BROCADES), Alcalase 2.5L® (NOVO), Maxatase LS 400® (GIST-BROCADES), Maxatase XL 550® (GIST-BROCADES), Durazym 16.0L® (NOVO).

  • Said ⁇ -amylase is advantageously chosen from the enzymes marketed under the name Termamyl 300 L®, Maxamyl WL 7000® respectively by the companies NOVO and GIST-BROCADES.
  • Said enzymes are mainly involved in the removal of protein stains.
  • the mixture of enzymes (s) / alkaline earth metal salt (s) can also be carried out within the composition.
  • the total amount of alkaline earth metal salt used in the compositions of the invention does not exceed the maximum defined above: 0.3% by weight of the total weight of said composition.
  • the various ingredients of the detergent compositions of the invention are therefore in solution in a minimum of water: not more than 10% by weight.
  • the detergent compositions of the invention therefore contain from 2 to 20% by weight of organic solvent (s).
  • This level of solvent is advantageously adapted to the mode of use of the detergent composition. If it is planned to use this in water-soluble sachets, it will obviously be ensured that said level of solvent is compatible with said sachets.

  • composition 2 is more effective than the compositions 1, 3, 4 and 5 in particular for removing bleachable stains (tea, coffee, wine, blueberry juice, etc.).
  • compositions of the invention are prepared by simple mixing.
  • composition 6 is distinguished from the composition 3 only by the level of oleic acid. It is within it equal to 5% by weight.
  • Said composition 6 has physical instability.
  • Composition 7 differs from composition 4 only in the absence of calcium.
  • the polyphosphonate therefore does not intervene in the form of a mixed salt.
  • the enzymes are also not processed.
  • the liquid formula obtained is not stable.
  • the composition 8 differs from the composition 2 only by the intervention of the sodium salt of HEDP instead of its potassium salt. We have seen that from said sodium salt it is impossible to prepare a mixed salt.
  • composition 9 is distinguished from the composition par only by the level of saturated fatty acids: 15%. Said composition 9 has deficiencies in the enzymatic soiling.
  • compositions 1, 2 and 3 were made "identical" to compositions 1, 2 and 3 respectively, but without oleic acid. Said compositions have deficiencies on greasy spots.
  • compositions 1, 2 and 3 were made "identical” to compositions 1, 2 and 3 respectively but without anionic surfactant (Alkyl benzene sulfonic acid). Said compositions exhibit deficiencies on all spots (greasy, oxidizable, enzymatic, particulate).

  • the half-bands are brought together and an evaluation is carried out by a panel of several judges.
  • compositions having the composition of composition 3 above have also been developed, however varying the nature and the amount of intervention (% by weight in the composition) of the salt (CaCl2, MgCl2, MgSO4, NaCl, Ca formate).
  • the results given in the table show that the Ca++ and Mg++ salts soluble in the composition at 0.10% by weight provide, surprisingly and independently of the counterion (mineral or organic), a stabilizing effect at the composition and prevent the formation of a ladle or a precipitate at a non-zero concentration, but less than 0.50% of the composition, ie less than 0.1 g of alkaline earth metal salt per g of polyphosphonate expressed as active acid with an optimum around 0.6 g / g of polyphosphonate.
