Definitions

  • the invention relates to connection arrangements for electrical wires and a connection piece for such arrangements.
  • connection arrangements for electrical wires which are of the stripping and wire retaining slot type, these arrangements are used in particular to connect, between themselves or to apparatus, electrical wires for the distribution of energy or for transmitting signals at low currents.
  • connection arrangements are for example of the junction block type, being designed to ensure the connection of electrical wires between them, for example at a distribution structure.
  • connection piece has a stripping and wire-holding slot which is most often rectilinear, which opens at one end by a flared mouthpiece with sharp edges and which extends, after this mouthpiece, by an area where the slit edges are at least approximately parallel.
  • a wire to be connected to such a part must be presented transversely with respect to the slot, so as to bear against the cutting edges of the stripped mouth, conventionally by the insulating sheath with which this wire is peripherally covered.
  • a pusher is generally used to ensure the connection, it is responsible for driving the core of the wire in the wire holding zone of the slit where the edges of this slit are at least approximately parallel, after having ensured partial exposure of the core of the wire, in the initial driving-in phase, when the sheath of the wire is in contact with the cutting edges of the flared mouth which center the wire and simultaneously cut the sheath in the bearing areas of this sheath on these cutting edges.
  • the pusher is sometimes incorporated in the connection arrangement of which a part is a part, it is also capable of being carried by an external, manual tool, as shown in particular in European patent application 0265321, or mounted on a machine.
  • connection piece with stripping and wire holding slot depend to a large extent on the characteristics of the wire to be connected and, first of all, of its section, in particular as regards the dimensioning of the mouth and spacing of the slit edges, in the holding zone where these are at least approximately parallel.
  • the dimensioning of the mouth has an influence on the quality of the stripping of the wire in the region by which this one is immobilized in the zone of maintenance of the slot and consequently on the existence or not of an electrical contact between the core of the wire and the part where it is immobilized, as well as on maintaining the integrity of this core at this level after stripping.
  • the spacing of the slit edges must be provided so that the core of the connected wire is immobilized with sufficient force to on the one hand prevent the displacement of the wire in the slit holding zone and a fortiori outside this zone, as well as the sectioning of this core by the slit edges responsible for immobilizing it, on the other hand ensuring a sufficient electrical contact pressure when the conditions of use are those authorized by the manufacturer.
  • connection pieces with a slit for holding and stripping the wire are made of metal which is not very resilient and so as to be very rigid, they are therefore only suitable for wires whose sections are very similar, for example from 0.22 to 0.34 mm2 for a connector piece.
  • connection parts must provide a whole series of parts of different sizes to cover the range of wires which can be connected in this way, which has certain drawbacks on various planes and in particular that of manufacturing and costs. .
  • connection arrangement for at least one electric wire, incorporating a metallic piece immobilized in a housing of a housing and arranged to form at least one connection unit, of hexagonal convex appearance, split according to one of its diagonal planes with respect to which it is symmetrical, for the connection of the same electric wire by two holding and stripping slots aligned in said diagonal plane of symmetry of the unit.
  • the latter has two essentially planar support sides which, arranged parallel to the diagonal plane of symmetry of the unit, project from a fixed common base and each laterally and obliquely bear two of said other sides of the hexagon.
  • Each slot is formed between two symmetrical sides, along the diagonal plane, carried by different support sides, and is provided with a flared mouth for stripping wire, with cutting edges, the two mouths of a unit being located at the end of the slot remote from the base of this unit.
  • the two support sides of a unit which is also symmetrical with respect to a median plane perpendicular to the diagonal plane of symmetry and common to these support sides, come to bear, each against one of the walls parallel to them of the housing, each by means of a symmetrical bulge, positioned at the level of the common median plane of symmetry and extending across either the support side which carries it, or the wall of the housing where this support side is supported, in the direction of the common base of the unit.
  • Figures 1 and 2 show an example of a connecting piece according to the invention, respectively in perspective and in left view.
  • Figure 3 shows a variant of the connecting piece according to the invention.
  • Figures 4 and 6 show an example of connection piece mounting in an arrangement according to the invention, respectively in top view and in left view.
  • Figure 5 shows a variant in top view of the connection arrangement according to the invention.
  • connection part presented in FIGS. 1 and 2 relates to a part intended for ensuring the connection of an electric wire whose core is covered by an insulating sheath.
  • This part is intended to maintain the position of the wire and to come into electrical contact with its core after having stripped the latter from the sheath at contact level.
  • connection pieces of this type are known and are used in various arrangements such as those briefly mentioned in the preamble to the present application.
  • connection piece presented here is assumed to be produced by cutting and folding from a flat metal blank, according to techniques well known in the field of connectors.
  • This part comprises an element intended to serve as a base by means of which the part comes to rest on the bottom of a housing provided for it in a housing made of insulating material which is not shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 here examined.
  • the base referenced 1 is constituted by a blade, one end of which 2 is bent at a right angle, for example to form a connection rod intended to project through the wall forming the bottom of the housing where it is positioned. the room.
  • Projections 3, 4, 5 obtained by cutting are also shown, they are for example provided to participate, in a manner known per se, in the immobilization of the part by its base, on the bottom of the housing provided for this purpose in a housing, in connection with not shown reliefs of this housing; this being usual in the field and not characteristic of the invention.
  • a slit connection unit for a wire is shown here carried by the base 1, it being understood that several units of this type can be carried by the same base 1, if necessary.
  • connection unit presented here is of hexagonal convex appearance, it is split according to one of its diagonal planes with respect to which it is symmetrical, this plane not being shown in FIGS. 1, 2 for reasons of simplification of the drawings.
  • connection of a wire is effected by means of two slots 5 and 6 for holding and stripping the wire which are parallel and aligned along the diagonal plane of symmetry of the slit piece, at two opposite ends of the latter.
  • connection unit presented has two support sides 7 and 8, here essentially planar, which project from the base 1 parallel to the diagonal plane of symmetry of the part, on either side of the latter with respect to which they are symmetrical, the part which comprises them being itself symmetrical with respect to this plane, as already indicated above.
  • Each support side 7, 8 carries laterally and obliquely two other sides 9, 10 or 11, 12, these six sides 7 to 12 defining the hexagonal convex shape of the connection unit considered.
  • Each of the slots 5, 6 is respectively formed between two sides, either 9 and 11 or 10 and 12, each carried by a different support side, 7 or 8, the two sides bordering a slot being symmetrically arranged with respect to the diagonal plane of symmetry of the room.
  • Each slot 5, 6 has a wire holding zone where the edges of the sides which delimit it are at least approximately parallel and a flared mouth for stripping wire which is situated opposite the base 1 relative to the rest of the 'unit and which is formed by progressive separation of the edges made sharp at this level, for example by beveling.
  • connection unit thus formed is fixed, usually by its base 1, to the bottom 13 of a housing of the housing 14 which comprises it, with its support sides 7 and 8 is externally in abutment against two parallel walls 15 and 16 of the housing to which these sides supports are practically parallel, as can be seen in FIGS. 4 and 6, that is to say preferably at a very short distance from these walls.
  • the support of each of the support sides 7 and 8 on the wall 15 or 16 of the housing which adjoins it is provided by bulges such as 17 and 18 formed symmetrically on the one hand with respect to the diagonal plane of symmetry of the unit, on the other hand with respect to a median plane of symmetry of this part which is perpendicular to the diagonal plane of symmetry of the part and here at the base of this part.
  • each of these bulges is unique on the support side which includes it and where it extends between the extreme edge, on this support side, which is located opposite of the base and the latter over a length which is here less than the distance separating this extreme edge from this base.
  • Each of the support sides 7 and 8 is preferably connected to the base 1, from which it projects, by a curved area narrower than it, such as 19 or 29, in FIG. 1, the two sides, such as 9 and 10, carried by a support side, such as 7, originating beyond this curved zone with respect to the base on this support side.
  • connection of a wire to such a part is effected by positioning the wire in the diagonal plane of symmetry of the part, so that it is applied simultaneously against each of the two stripping mouths, then by pressing it with an appropriate tool in the two holding slots of the part, the tool moving along the slots towards the base during the 'depression.
  • connection unit is generally designed to have great rigidity and this is usually reinforced by the support of the support sides 7, 8 against the walls, rigid or stiffened, 15, 16 of the housing of piece, here by means of the bulges 17, 18.
  • connection unit Under normal conditions of use, the connection unit is pressed by these bulges 17, 18 against the walls 15, 16 of the housing where it is located, when a wire of appropriate section is inserted into its slots, at their respective holding zones.
  • connection unit installed between housing walls spaced apart by a determined value
  • connection unit given, according to the invention, by playing on the maximum spacing possibilities of the support sides of this unit, that is to say by providing slightly different housings at their walls 15, 16 and for example walls 15 , 16 whose spacing is slightly different, possibly with the height, and / or the angle relative to the housing bottom where the connection unit base is fixed.
  • each support side 7, 8 by a median bulge 17 or 18 as well as the narrowing existing at the curved areas of junction of the support sides to the base allows an increase in the possibilities of bending of the connection unit which can thus be used to accommodate wires in a wider range of sections and in practically identical mechanical and electrical conditions with housings whose housings are slightly different, these housings having the arrangement of their walls 15, 16 slightly modified according to of the selected section or short range of wire sections.
  • connection unit An increase in the range of acceptable wires with a given connection unit is also likely to be obtained by arrangement of stripping and wire-holding slots on two levels, as shown in FIG. 3.
  • This first holding zone which is opposite the first mouth, is extended by a second holding zone where the distance between edges at least approximately parallel is less than the corresponding distance from the first zone.
  • This second holding zone is provided for a wire of lower section whose core can slide without being damaged through the first narrowing holding zone.
  • first and second holding zones are carried out by a transition intended to ensure or perfect the stripping of the wire, above indicated as of lower section, this transition is constituted by cutting edge elements, such as 22 and 23.
  • the housing made of insulating material 14B presented which is supposed to contain several parallel connection pieces, only one of which is shown, comprises several parallel housings, separated by parallel partitions 24, 25, 26.
  • connection piece presented differs from that proposed in FIG. 4 by an absence of bulges on its support sides 7B and 8B which each come to bear by a flat wall on a wall 15B or 16B, different from the housing of the room.
  • Bulges, such as 27 and 28 are provided on the walls, parallel and facing, 15B and 16B of the housing of the part considered here, they are arranged to allow the support, under determined conditions, of the support sides 7B and 8B part, when an appropriate type of wire is connected.
  • these bulges are arranged face to face in a position for which they are located in the so-called median plane of symmetry of the connection unit according to the invention which is, of a part, common to the sides 7B and 8B, on the other hand perpendicular to the base 1B of this part as well as to its diagonal plane of symmetry according to which the two stripping and holding slots of the unit are aligned.
  • median plane of symmetry of the connection unit according to the invention which is, of a part, common to the sides 7B and 8B, on the other hand perpendicular to the base 1B of this part as well as to its diagonal plane of symmetry according to which the two stripping and holding slots of the unit are aligned.
