Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a control device for gas burners with a fan for supplying combustion air according to the preamble of the main claim. In a known control device of this type (DE-A1 31 05 862), the setpoint generator for the gas control valve is a throttle orifice arranged in the air volume flow, the opening cross section of which is fixed in an unchangeable manner. In this arrangement, the gas volume flow is controlled as a function of the conveyed air volume flow, but it is not taken into account that the density and thus the oxygen mass of the air volume flow is dependent on its temperature and can therefore also adversely affect the quality of combustion. For a constant excess of air during combustion, the ratio of the combustion air mass to the fuel gas mass must be kept constant. If the combustion gas temperature is constant and the combustion air temperature changes, this cannot be achieved with a fixed throttle orifice, because this cannot compensate for the temperature-dependent change in density of the air volume flow.
In another control device of the type mentioned at the beginning (DE-A1 30 06 683), the combustion air is heated in a recuperator downstream of a measuring orifice controlling the gas control valve. In order to take into account possible heating of the fuel gas by the gas burner, a measuring orifice is installed in the fuel gas line downstream of the gas control valve and the gas pressure behind this measuring orifice is fed back to the gas control valve as a correction signal. In this known arrangement, however, the temperature of the combustion air upstream of the measuring orifice provided in the combustion air line is also not taken into account, in spite of an increased expenditure on apparatus, so that here too a constant excess of air cannot be maintained at different combustion air temperatures.
The arrangement according to the invention with the characterizing features of the main claim has the advantage that, with a corresponding design of the setpoint generator and the gas control valve, the excess air can be adjusted to the optimum value over the entire controlled power range, taking the combustion air temperature into account automatically.
The measures contained in the subclaims allow advantageous developments of the arrangement according to the main claim.
A simple design that does not require any additional internals in the combustion air line is obtained if the setpoint generator for the gas control valve is a control pressure orifice in the combustion air line that generates differential pressure, the effective cross section of which is controlled as a function of temperature. The arrangement can be such that the cross-section increases with increasing temperature of the air volume flow and thereby the control pressure difference in Meaning a lowering of the setpoint of the gas control valve is reduced. The flow resistance of the control pressure orifice is also reduced, so that this effect also changes the air volume flow compared to the gas volume flow in the desired sense.
The effective cross section of the control pressure orifice can advantageously be influenced by at least one control flap which is coupled to a temperature-sensitive actuator which is acted upon by the air volume flow.
A simple arrangement results if a bimetal element is provided as an actuator for the control flap. The bimetallic element can itself be designed as a control flap and attached directly to the panel.
Instead of a bimetal element as an actuator, a bellows filled with expansion liquid or, for example, a wax expansion element can also be provided. In these cases, the measuring location can be located away from the actuator. The temperature of the combustion air can also be detected by electronic means that act on an electromechanical actuator, such as a magnet or motor.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a control pressure orifice has an uncontrolled main opening and at least one temperature-controlled secondary opening. This is expediently associated with a control flap designed directly as a bimetallic element. The control characteristic can be adapted to the requirements of the respective application by appropriately selecting the dimensions of the control openings. When two or more bimetallic elements or control flaps are arranged, the control characteristic can also be adapted by means of stepped prestressing of the bimetallic elements.
The control device according to the invention can be used both in systems or devices with forced draft burners and in devices with atmospheric gas burners, which are provided with a fan to support the combustion air supply.
In the case of a heater without a pneumatic compound controller, the temperature-dependent throttling of the air volume flow according to the invention can also be used to achieve an excess air during combustion that is independent of the temperature of the combustion air. The control pressure orifices described above can also be used for this purpose.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in simplified form in the drawing and explained in more detail in the following description. FIG. 1 shows an overall schematic view of the burner device for a gas-heated water heater, FIG. 2 shows the side view of a control pressure orifice of the device according to FIG. 1, and FIG. 3 shows a section along the line III-III in FIG. 2.
The burner device has a
The
The
