- the crates should be light yet stable in shape, stackable even when filled, and remain functional and attractive even after many cycles between bottling plants and consumers. Good mechanical and manual handling is also important. In particular, the greatest possible comfort is also sought for the filled and heavy bottle crate.
- Known bottle crates usually have grip openings on the opposite side and end walls in the upper region, which limit the handles on the upper edge of the crate at the bottom.
- the invention is based on the object of improving a bottle crate of the known type in such a way that the requirements explained remain fulfilled and in particular the wearing comfort is increased.
- the solution to the problem is characterized in claim 1.
- the cantilevered handles on the sides of the box enable particularly easy gripping and the comfort is significantly supported by spring and damping effects.
- the bottle crate according to the invention does not have a continuous one, but an interrupted one Top margin.
- the required rigidity and resilience can be achieved by appropriate dimensioning in particular if, according to a development of the invention, the side wall parts which form the free-standing handles are designed as a hollow profile.
- the hollow profile of the free-standing handles is continued at the upper edge of the adjacent end wall and forms a handle above the handle opening there.
- the side wall parts below the obliquely upward, the free-standing handle opening delimiting handle opening can be designed as a hollow profile that is continued at the upper edge of the adjoining end wall and forms a handle above the handle opening there.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a bottle crate according to the preamble of
Bottle crates for receiving and transporting beverage bottles have many requirements. The crates should hold the bottles in a protected and secure position. The crates should be light yet stable in shape, stackable even when filled, and remain functional and attractive even after many cycles between bottling plants and consumers. Good mechanical and manual handling is also important. In particular, the greatest possible comfort is also sought for the filled and heavy bottle crate.
Known bottle crates usually have grip openings on the opposite side and end walls in the upper region, which limit the handles on the upper edge of the crate at the bottom.
The invention is based on the object of improving a bottle crate of the known type in such a way that the requirements explained remain fulfilled and in particular the wearing comfort is increased. The solution to the problem is characterized in
The cantilevered handles on the sides of the box enable particularly easy gripping and the comfort is significantly supported by spring and damping effects. In a departure from all previously known bottle crates, the bottle crate according to the invention does not have a continuous one, but an interrupted one Top margin. The required rigidity and resilience can be achieved by appropriate dimensioning in particular if, according to a development of the invention, the side wall parts which form the free-standing handles are designed as a hollow profile.
In a further embodiment of the invention it can be provided that the hollow profile of the free-standing handles is continued at the upper edge of the adjacent end wall and forms a handle above the handle opening there. Furthermore, the side wall parts below the obliquely upward, the free-standing handle opening delimiting handle opening can be designed as a hollow profile that is continued at the upper edge of the adjoining end wall and forms a handle above the handle opening there. The hollow profiles of the handle openings on the end faces and the free-standing carrying handles on the sides of the box then constitute a rigid, closed hollow profile composite, which can additionally be guided to the corner of the side walls up to the box bottom.
As an advantageous further development, the invention proposes that a further inner handle, designed as a hollow profile, is arranged in the central region, which connects the free ends of the free-standing handles. This inner handle spans the box opening. It is closer to the center of gravity of the crate than the outer handles, so that the bottle crate tilts less when carried with one hand on the inner handle, thereby increasing ground clearance. This is particularly noticeable when climbing stairs. In addition, the inner handle stiffens the free-standing handles. In order to continue to enable manual loading and unloading of the box without problems, the inner handle is expediently arranged above a wall of a truss dividing the box. In this position, the inner handle is also far from the sharp-edged crown caps or other closures of the Bottles removed. If the inner handle with its upper edge is flush with the top of the box, cutouts are expediently provided in the bottom of the box, which take up the inner handle of the box underneath when stacking and accordingly enable unimpeded stacking. Boxes according to the invention are conventionally made in one piece from plastic, preferably polyethylene, by injection molding.

The bottle crate shown has, in a manner known per se, a ribbed base (not shown) 1 with a subsequent
The obliquely rising
At the box end faces 4, the
The free ends of the free-standing
