Description

The invention relates to a device for opening and for spreading folded products fed via a ribbon line with a device for introducing separating elements in each case into the loop-shaped area of the not fully folded fold back.

A folding and transport device is known from EP 0 250 758 A1, in which the fold does not extend completely over the length or width of the copy to be folded, so that a loop is formed on one side of the folded products, into which of tongues can be inserted from the side so that the products can be opened again without overlap. With the means known from this document, however, it is not possible to open shingled, for example arriving on a ribbon line, and to spread them in a spread form to a downstream transport or storage system, for example a zigzag structure.

Furthermore, it is also known from EP 0 169 490 A1 to pick up folded sheets or bundles of sheets on the leading fold back by means of pre-grippers with the aid of an opening cylinder, in order then to grasp the overlap with the aid of pullers and to open the sheet with the aid of centrifugal forces. However, it is disadvantageous that increased paper consumption occurs due to the overlap required for the opening process. Ultimately, a transport device for folded products is described in the German patent specification 36 21 822, to which a belt or chain runs in parallel, on which fingers which are inserted laterally into the folded sheet in front of the folding jaw cylinder are provided, which are at the folded product transfer point by one of the relatively long transport device path leading the folded product opens on one side. With this device, too, it is not possible to spread folded products transported in the form of scales and to feed them in a spread form to a subsequent system.

The object of the invention is to provide a device with which folded products transported in the form of scales are opened, i.e. are spread in order to be able to feed them in a spread form to a subsequent transport or storage system, for example a moving zigzag structure.

The ability to spread shingled folded products means that more time is available for the individual work processes because the speed of the folded products is lower than at an unbalanced product feed. The shingled stream can be taken directly from a folder. Particular advantages of the invention lie in the fact that the grippers provided in groups by an opening cylinder cause the folded product to spread even during a partial rotation of the opening cylinder, since several grippers can be inserted into the folded products in a short time starting from the fold back by corresponding lateral control of the displacement of the grippers are, with the spread delivery in the same order, the grippers are pulled out again, ie that the rearmost gripper holds a folded product or half of a folded product relatively long on the opening cylinder. The spreading takes place in the smallest space, since a compact cylinder is used instead of relatively long or voluminous bands.

Fig. 2 zeigt diesen Vorgang in einem vergrößerten Ausschnitt.Fig. 1 shows how when folding the folded product or sheet 1 in a known manner in a folder (not specified) with the help of jaws 2 or 3 of a jaw cylinder 4 and a folder 5 of a folder cylinder 6 two sheet halves 7 and 8 are formed . In this folding process, the sheet 1 is preferably not completely folded through, so that a loop 101 is formed on the side of the sheet, as described in detail in EU-PS 0 250 758. When the sheet 1 is subsequently transported, care must be taken to ensure that this loop 101 remains laterally outside the transport devices so that it is not compressed. The roller 1 is braked in stages in a known manner by roller pairs 9 and 10 or 11 and 12 and by means of ribbon lines 13 and 14, as the positions 1 ', 1''and1''' of the roller 1 show in succession. In position 1 '''the folded sheets 1 are thus in a scale formation. This formation of scales is supported in a novel, advantageous manner by a chain 16 which rotates in a clockwise manner in the direction of arrow 15, the bars 17 of which on the one hand penetrate through the gap between the arches in positions 1 'and 1''and on the other hand in arch position 1''' at the end of the arch lift so that the following arches for forming the scale can be pushed under the leading ones (under-scaling). Fig. 2 shows this process in an enlarged section.

The folded sheets 1 now come in scaled form on a sliding plate 18. The following gripper cylinder 100 according to the invention is described in detail below.

As can be seen from FIGS. 1, 4 and 5, the axis 19 of the gripper cylinder 100 is cyclically driven by a driver chain 20 with drivers 21 via the chain wheel 22, the shaft 23 and spur gears 24 and 25 in the direction of arrow 26. The drive chain 20 moves in the direction 27. The axis 19 is supported in supports 28 and 29. 30, 31 and 32 discs 33, 34 and 35 are fastened on it with the aid of clamping pieces. In the disks 34 and 35, in turn, a number of axially movable plungers 36 and 37 are mounted, on which tongues or grippers 38, 39, 40 and 41 are seated. According to the invention, these grippers 38 to 41 each lie as a group of four in a spiral to the center of the gripper cylinder 100 (FIG. 4) and thus follow the course of the arches 1 lying in a scale-like manner around the cylinder. As FIG 42 and 43 and clamped holders 44 and 45 pressed against axial cams 46 and 47. The holder 44 and 45 are guided by slotted pins 48 and thereby secure the plunger 36, 37 against rotation (Fig. 6).

The axial cams 46 and 47 are rotatably supported on the axis 19 by means of a cam carrier 49 and are supported by a torque arm 50 (FIGS. 3, 5 and 8). When the cylinder 100 rotates, the plungers 36, 37 and thus the grippers 38 to 41 are axially moved back and forth when the axial cam disks 46, 47 are stationary. Furthermore, there are rings 51, 52, 53 with preferably angular stops 54, 55 and 56 on the periphery of the disks 33, 34 and 35 for receiving the folded edges of the folded sheets 1, thereby aligning them. The loops 101 open.

Since the transport speed of the folded sheets 1 in the direction 57 (FIG. 3) is greater than the peripheral speed of the gripper cylinder 100 and thus of the stops 54, 55 and 56 the sheets 1 pushed firmly against the stops 54 to 56 and exactly aligned. The ribbon cable 13 is carefully adjusted so that not too much, but also not too little is pushed. This pushing on also increases the loop 101 in the folded sheet 1, so that the gripper 38 can better penetrate between the sheet halves in the position 38 'shown in FIG. 4. In addition, all the grippers 38 to 41 are shaped according to FIG. 9 (a view in the direction of arrow V in FIG. 5), which also facilitates penetration, initially with the tip 75. Subsequently, with further rotation of the gripper cylinder 100 in the direction of arrow 26, the other three grippers 39, 40 and 41 related to the sheet 1 can penetrate one after the other, each gripper opening the sheet virtually to the other. Together, they clamp or hold the sheet half 8 of the sheet 1 firmly on the gripper cylinder 100. The sheets 1 are also held on the circumference of the cylinder by the ribbon cable 58. In position 38 ″ (FIG. 4), the first of the four sheet-related grippers 38 to 41 releases the sheet half 8. The sheet 1 is deflected by fixed tongues 59 and 60 so that it detaches from the stops 54, 55 and 56. Since the grippers 39, 40 and 41 also only release the sheet half 8 one after the other, the opening of the sheet halves 7 and 8 shown in FIG. 4 results when penetrating into the zigzag structure 75. This structure moves due to the entrainment the driver chains 20 and 61 with the drivers 21 in the direction of arrow 62. The opposite direction of rotation 26 of the gripper cylinder 100 accelerates the penetration of the sheets 1 into the zigzag structure 75 (FIG. 4).

This zigzag structure 75 for receiving folded sheets 1 is described in detail as a transport and storage structure in the patent specification DE 36 21 832, the two-part embodiment also shown there being used. When deflected in the direction of arrow 63 (FIG. 7), it is able to penetrate between the bow halves 7 and 8 with its tongues 64 and 65 on one side of the bow 1, namely the open one (FIG. 4). Then this opening is pulled to the other side by the rotation of the screw 66 in the direction of arrow 67, whereupon the structure 75 is able to here also by a deflection in the direction 68 with their tongues 64, 65 to penetrate between the bow halves 7, 8. This process is also described in detail in DE 36 21 822. In this way, the folded sheets 1 are stored continuously, after which they can be opened at any time by pulling the structure 75 apart and thereby inserting inserts. As shown in FIGS. 1, 5 and 7, a worm 66 is cyclically driven by the drive chain 61 via a sprocket 69, a shaft 70, bevel gears 71, 72, a shaft 73 and a toothed belt 74.

Claims (8)

  1. Apparatus for opening and delivering in a spread condition folded products (1) conveyed by means of a first belt conveyor (13, 14) with a device for introducing separating elements respectively into the loop-shaped region (101) of the incompletely-folded folded spine of the folded products (1), characterised in that the first belt conveyor (13, 14) feeds the folded products (1), lying overlapped one below the other, to an opening cylinder (100), which has rotating grippers (38, 39, 40, 41) combined respectively to form groups and arranged in a spiral with respect to the axis (19), in that shift means are available by means of which the grippers (38, 39, 40, 41) respectively arranged in groups can be inserted laterally one after the other into the loop (101) of the folded product (1), in that there is a second belt conveyor (58) by means of which the folded products (1) are partially guided about the opening cylinder (100), in that there are fixed tongues (59, 60) which convey the folded products (1) in a spread condition to a take-up device (64, 65), restoring means being available for restoring the shift means which withdraw the grippers (38, 39, 40, 41) one after the other laterally out of the folded products (1) by axial displacement, starting with the leading loop (101).
  2. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterised in that there is present a device (16) with bars (17), circulating at regular intervals, which lifts the respective folded products (1) at the rear edge as they come out of a folding apparatus (4, 6) before they reach the opening cylinder (100) after passing the bar (17), so that the next respective folded product (1'') is displaced to form an overlapping feed below the rear edge of the leading folded product (1'').
  3. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the opening cylinder (100) has stops (54, 55, 56) spaced apart on an arc, to which stops the first conveyor belt (13, 14) conveys the folded products (1) at an increased speed with respect to the circumferential speed of the opening cylinder (100).
  4. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the grippers (38, 39, 40, 41) are L-shaped and are arranged on spring-loaded axially movable push rods (36, 37) which are displaced by fixed axial cam discs (46, 47) for the synchronised production of the axial stroke.
  5. Apparatus according to claim 4, characterised in that the push rods (36, 37) are pressed by means of compression springs (42, 43) and clamped holders (44, 45) against the axial cam discs (46, 47), the holders (44, 45) being guided by slotted pins (48).
  6. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the grippers (38, 39, 40, 41) provided with tips (75) penetrate respectively one after the other into a folded product (1) from the side, starting at the loop (101) in such a way that each gripper (e.g. 38) opens the folded product for the succeeding gripper, the grippers (38, 39, 40, 41) together clamping respectively half a sheet (8) of a folded product (1) on the opening cylinder (100) additionally to the conveyor belt (58) guided partially round the opening cylinder (100).
  7. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that by axial displacement the leading gripper (38) is the first to release the folded product (1) in the region of the fixed tongues (60) so that this gripper can be deflected out by the tongues (59, 60) and is released from the angular stops (54, 55, 56) so that the folded products can be delivered in a spread condition to a movable zig-zag- shaped carrier structure (75).
  8. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the axial cam discs (46, 47) are supported rotatably by means of a cam carrier (49) on the shaft (19) of the opening cylinder (100), in that the shaft (19) is mounted in supports (28, 29) and in that discs (33, 34, 35) are secured on it by means of clamping pieces (30, 31, 32), on the circumference of which discs rings (51, 52, 53) are arranged on which the angular stops (54, 55, 56) are arranged to receive the leading folded edges of the folded products (1).
