Definitions
- the invention relates to a metal halide high-pressure discharge lamp according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Metal halide high-pressure discharge lamps of this type are used in particular in lighting systems for stage, film and television, where light with a color temperature similar to daylight, high color temperature consistency and very good color rendering is required.
- From DE-PS 19 40 539 and DE-PS 21 14 804 mercury vapor high-pressure discharge lamps with halide additions of dysprosium and / or holmium and / or thulium are known.
- the lamps emit light with a spectral composition similar to daylight and a light color of approx. 6000 K.
- these lamps like most of the other high-pressure discharge lamps on the market, experience a color temperature drop of 2 K and more per operating hour for this purpose.
- the lamps therefore only meet the values required for color temperature for a relatively short operating time. After this time, the color temperature has dropped so far that it can no longer be used in film and television recordings.
- the object of the invention is to provide a metal halide high-pressure discharge lamp which emits radiation with a color temperature of 5200 to 6400 K and in which the drop in color temperature is substantially reduced over the entire average life.
- the dysprosium of the halide filling By adding nickel to the dysprosium of the halide filling, a color temperature similar to daylight is achieved. Depending on the lamp geometry, an increase in the color temperature may be required for certain lamps in order to obtain the optimal value of 5600 K or 6000 K. This is made possible by adding gadolinium. Both nickel and gadolinium stabilize the color temperature of the lamp. With the addition of these two metals to the filling, the drop in color temperature in all of the relevant metal halide high-pressure discharge lamps with power consumption between 100 and 12000 W can be limited to a maximum of 1 K per operating hour over the entire average life of the lamps. This allows the user to operate used and new lamps side by side within the average life of the lamp without color temperature differences having a disruptive effect.
- the discharge vessel contains 0.03 to 3 mg dysprosium, 0.002 to 0.5 mg nickel and possibly 0.002 to 0.1 mg gadolinium per cm3 of the vessel volume.
- Iodine and bromine are advantageously used as halogens, in order to produce an optimally functioning halogen cycle the molar ratio of iodine to bromine should be between 0.2 and 1.5.
- FIG. 1 shows a small, single-sided, metal halide high-pressure discharge lamp 1 with a power consumption of 130 W.
- the discharge vessel 2 made of quartz glass has two diametrically opposed necks 3, 4, into each of which a power supply 5 with a molybdenum sealing film 6, 7 and one into it Discharge vessel 2 protruding pin electrode 8.9 made of tungsten are squeezed.
- a base 10 with two contact elements 11, 12 is attached to a neck 4 by means of a suitable cement.
- One contact element 11 is connected to the sealing film 7 via a power supply that is not visible here.
- the other contact element 12 is an end of a holding bracket 13, the other end of which is electrically connected to the power supply 5 of the other electrode 8 and which at the same time holds the free neck 3 of the discharge vessel 2 takes over.
- FIG. 2 shows a metal halide high-pressure discharge lamp 14 with a base on both sides with a power consumption of 575 W.
- the discharge vessel 15 made of quartz glass has an essentially spherical shape and has a neck 16, 17 at two diametrically opposite points.
- a pin electrode 18, 19 made of tungsten is melted into each of these necks 16, 17 in a gas-tight manner via a molybdenum sealing film 20, 21.
- the sealing film 20, 21 is electrically connected to a base of the SFc 10-4 type, the base sleeve 22, 23 of which is attached to the free end of each neck 16, 17.
- a threaded pin 24, 25 is welded onto the base sleeve 22, 23, and a knurled nut 26, 27 is in turn screwed onto this.
- the electrical connection to the mains or ballast is established by connecting cables which are clamped between the base sleeve 22, 23 and the knurled nut 26, 27.
- FIG. 3 shows a double-ended metal halide high-pressure discharge lamp 28 according to the invention with a power consumption of 12000 W.
- the discharge vessel 29 made of quartz glass has two lamp necks 30, 31, which are diametrically opposed.
- the lamp 28 has two rod-shaped tungsten electrodes 32, 33, which are connected to the sleeves 36, 37 of the type K 25s base by means of vacuum-sealed molybdenum foils 34, 35 that are melted into the lamp necks 30, 31.
- the bases have connection cables 38, 39 which are connected to the power supply or the ballast.
- the lamp data and the filling compositions for the metal halide high-pressure discharge lamps shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 are compiled in the table below.

Abstract
Description
- Figur 2
