Description
The invention relates to a container according to the preamble of
Such containers, for which the English term container has also become common in German, can be designed as general cargo containers. An essential feature of a type of container that is preferably used for the transport of piece goods is that it can be loaded and unloaded by means of one of the transverse side walls which is designated as the rear wall and which is therefore also designed as a door or at least has a correspondingly large door. In this case, a single-leaf door can be used, which can be pivoted about a vertical pivot axis near one of the longitudinal walls of the container. However, it is generally customary to install a double-leaf door, from which each leaf can be pivoted about a vertical axis near one of the side walls of the container and is locked in the region of the mutually facing edges. In the usual way, this double-leaf door is dimensioned such that, in the open position of the entire door, the container at the rear end is open over the entire cross section and can be conveniently loaded and unloaded. The container is in the closed position of the door closed all around; if it is a temperature-controlled or air-conditioned container, it is hermetically closed when the door is closed.
Another known type of container is preferably intended for the transport of free-flowing goods. In principle, it can have the same contour as the previously discussed general cargo container, but preferably it can be cylindrical, with closable filling openings for the transport goods being arranged in the container roof or in the region of the upper side of the container, while corresponding outlet openings are assigned to the container base or the lower side of the container. If appropriate, a correspondingly large outlet opening can be provided in the one transverse side wall, which is thereby identified as the rear wall of the container, near the container bottom.
To improve capacity utilization, attempts have repeatedly been made to offer a container which basically corresponds to the container types described above, but which can be used either for the transport of general cargo or for the transport of free-flowing goods, which can also be flowable goods. To a large extent, such convertible containers have so far not been used in practice, although there is a corresponding need. The reason for the inadequate use of such containers is probably above all the fact that the effort for retrofitting and convertibility is relatively high. The cost of retrofitting increases the cost of the containers in a way that is not enforceable on the market. The operational effort for the conversion is high, so that it runs counter to the widespread desire to save personnel and reduce downtimes.
From US-A-3 578 213 a chassis associated container in the form of a horizontal cuboid with a rigid end wall, rigid floor and roof and rigid side walls, all of these parts are firmly connected to each other and form a rigid outer housing, the rear end is open. A conventional door unit is assigned to the outer housing at the open end.
Arranged within the outer housing is a head plate which is adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the outer housing and corresponds to the end wall and whose distance from the door unit can be changed in order to be able to determine a volume in the outer housing which is variable in volume between itself and the end wall. Bulk material is to be conveyed with the container, which is why the container is provided with a deformable inner lining, which is supported on the inside of the floor, roof, side walls, end wall and head plate. The head plate is guided for the adjustment movements relative to the outer housing in guide rails of the side walls of the container, and in order to be able to follow the adjustment movements of the head plate, the inner lining is suspended on guide rails of the container roof in a longitudinally displaceable manner. At its rear, lower end, the inner lining forms an outlet nozzle which is connected to an outlet device of the container at its rear end. This known container is primarily intended for the transport of bulk goods, but it should also be possible to transport loads other than bulk goods.
Against this technical background, it is an object of the invention to design a generic container in such a way that it is intended for general cargo transport, but it is readily possible to convert it to the transport of free-flowing or flowable goods. In order to create the structural prerequisites for this, simple, less susceptible components are to be used, so that the price of the container can be kept within acceptable limits and its operational safety is not significantly impaired. For the company, precautions should be taken to ensure that the changeover from one operating mode to the other can be carried out by one person in a short time and without special aids.
The features of the claims serve to achieve the object, the features of
As far as the proposed inventive use of the additional transverse wall and its pivotable mounting in the roof area of the container is concerned, reference is made to US-A-3 438 149, in which a motor vehicle trailer with a cooling container is described as a body, the cooling container being characterized by a additional transverse wall is divided into a front and a rear container part and these two container parts can be changed in relation to each other in that the additional transverse wall is adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the container. In order to be able to cancel the separation into two container parts, for example to be able to get into the front container part from the rear of the container, the additional transverse wall is pivotally mounted on the roof of the container at the upper end so that it can be pivoted between two end positions. In one end position, the functional position, the additional transverse wall is parallel to the front and rear transverse side walls of the container and, as intended, separates the container into a front and a rear container part. In the other end position, the additional transverse wall is pivoted upwards, lies parallel to the container roof below it and the separation into two container parts is eliminated. The horizontal transverse axis with which the additional transverse wall is pivotally mounted on the container roof is held in bearings which can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the container in order to be able to adjust the additional transverse wall in the longitudinal direction of the container. The additional transverse wall can be fixed in its two end positions.
The invention is explained below with reference to the drawing.
The invention generally requires a conventional general cargo container measuring 6.10 mx 2.44 mx 2.59 m (20'x8'x8'6 "). Of course, any other corresponding container can also be used. The one with
In order to be able to use the container for transporting free-flowing material,
An additional
It is important that the inside of the rear wall, such as the roof, floor and side walls of the container, is coated in such a way that there is a smooth surface which is resistant to the goods being transported and is easy to clean.
The pivotable
