Definitions

  • the invention relates to a safety front jaw of a ski binding according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • the aim of the present invention is to provide a safety front jaw of a ski binding of the type mentioned, in which one end of the release spring is preferably adjustably supported directly on the sole holder, while the other end can act on both the side and the height release mechanism, whereby the correct lateral mounting of a set ski boot should not be impaired by different ski boot sole thicknesses without having to provide special height adjustment means to be operated by hand on the sole holder.
  • the release spring acts directly and without play on the control levers of the side jaws via the yoke member.
  • the action on the hold-down cam takes place, however, only after the predetermined game has been overcome, so that ski boots with different sole thicknesses can be inserted into the binding within this game.
  • the sole holder adjusts itself automatically in the height direction without the side holding force acting on the side jaws from the release spring being impaired.
  • the auxiliary spring is preferably provided.
  • the invention therefore differentiates between the clamping force for the ski boot sole, which is, for example, in the order of magnitude of 300 N, and the height-releasing force, which is, for example, 800 N.
  • the side jaws themselves preferably have the projections that hold down the ski boot sole. However, it would also be conceivable that the side jaws only clamp the ski boot laterally, while a special, fixed hold-down is provided on the swivel-up sole holder.
  • a particularly preferred structural embodiment is characterized by claim 3. It is particularly advantageous if there is also a small distance between the yoke member and the hold-down cam on the side opposite to the above-mentioned game, in such a way that, if a ski boot is inserted into the binding, this may possibly result. Gently pushing apart the two side jaws and advancing the yoke member does not yet result in the yoke member also touching the hold-down cam, so that it is still in firm contact with the slide track under the action of the auxiliary spring.
  • a particularly preferred embodiment for realizing the mentioned short distance is characterized by claim 4.
  • the yoke member is combined with a spring abutment pot to form a single, one-piece component, the rear end of the spring abutment pot simultaneously forming the stop surface of the yoke member that acts on the hold-down cam from the front.
  • This embodiment is characterized by claim 6.
  • a particularly advantageous structural implementation of the mounting of the hold-down cam is defined in claim 7.
  • a structurally and spatially particularly expedient arrangement of the auxiliary spring, which, like the release spring, is preferably designed as a helical compression spring, can be found in claim 8.
  • Claim 9 indicates a preferred structural design of the control lever.
  • the embodiment according to claim 10 has the advantage that in the event of a side release, an upward force component is also exerted on the sole holder, so that jamming of the ski boot sole between the sole holder and the ski is counteracted when the side is released.
  • This embodiment is also fundamentally advantageous for all safety ski bindings, regardless of the other features of the invention, where the side jaws that can be swung out laterally are arranged on a sole holder that can be swiveled up.
  • the safety front jaw of a ski binding has a base body 11 to be fastened to the ski, on which a sole holder 13 is attached so as to be pivotable about a transverse axis 12.
  • the spring abutment pot 31 has a base 30 'with a central bore 34, on which a release spring 20 is supported from the front, which is supported with its front end on an axially adjustable abutment 39 of the sole holder 13.
  • the one-piece component consisting of the spring abutment pot 31 and the yoke member 25 has an opening extending transversely through the rear part in the manner of elongated holes 33, through which a hold-down cam 27 in the form of a rod extends, which extends from the front through a helical compression spring trained Auxiliary spring 29 is acted upon, which is supported on the same front abutment 39 as the release spring 20 and extends through the central bore 34 in the base 30 'of the spring abutment pot 31.
  • the rod-shaped hold-down cam 27 is pressed against the rear edge of the slot-shaped opening 33.
  • the rod-shaped hold-down cam 27 extends after the elongated opening 33 on both sides through elongated holes 30 in the side walls of the sole holder 13, which extend in the direction of the central longitudinal axis 14, and then into a link recess 40 of two vertically standing side plates 41 of the base body 11 the hold-down cams 27 have sliding bodies 42 which, in the rest position of the binding, bear against a slide track 28 of the side face 41 which rises obliquely from the rear to the front according to FIGS. 2 and 3.
  • the setting recess 40 is dimensioned so large that the side release according to the upper half of FIG. 1 is not hindered by the hold-down cam 27 abutting the edges of the setting recess.
  • front support rollers 44, 45 are provided on the side jaws 17, 18, the central axes of which are arranged slightly laterally outside the vertical axes 15, 16, so that a slight opening effect is exerted on the side jaws in the event of a forward fall.
  • side holding rollers 37, 38 are provided on the side jaws 17, 18 in the region of the rear end, by means of which the set ski boot is also supported laterally with its sole.
  • the side jaws 17, 18 overlap a set ski boot sole at 44 in order to hold it securely from above.
  • the side holding rollers 37, 38 are arranged so that they converge obliquely from bottom to top in such a way that when the side is released, the ski boot sole also exerts a small force component in the vertical direction on the sole holder 13.
  • the design according to the invention also has the advantage that, within the small distance 43, the binding also has a certain lateral elasticity, within which a certain lateral mobility of the side jaws 17, 18 is ensured, without any lateral triggering.
  • An important further advantage of the invention is that when the binding is released in one direction (side or height release), the release force in the other direction becomes zero.
