Claims (9)

  1. Sheetfed or webfed intaglio printing machine for currency papers, especially bank notes, comprising a plate cylinder (4) with several printing plates, an impression cylinder (3), a wiping device (10) and an inking system consisting of a collector inking cylinder (5) having an elastic surface interacting with the printing plates, of selective colour inking cylinders (7) having reliefs corresponding to the coloured zones to be printed in different colours and in contact with the periphery of the collector inking cylinder (5), and of an inking device (8) associated with each selective colour inking cylinder (7), characterized in that the diameter of the collector inking cylinder (5) is equal to N times the diameter of the plate cylinder (4), N being an integer between 1 and 3.
  2. Intaglio printing machine according to Claim 1, characterized in that the collector inking cylinder (5) is a blanket cylinder, and in that the ratio of the number of blankets to the number of printing plates is equal to the ratio of the said diameters.
  3. Intaglio printing machine according to Claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the diameter of the collector inking cylinder (5) is equal to the diameter of the plate cylinder (4).
  4. Intaglio printing machine according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the plate cylinder (4) carries at least two, preferably three or four printing plates.
  5. Intaglio printing machine according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that there are at least three, preferably four selective colour inking cylinders (7).
  6. Intaglio printing machine according to one of Claims 1 to 5, in which the printing plates are equipped with intaglio cuts representing the elements of a main design and with less deep and finer intaglio cuts representing the elements of a safety background, characterized in that at least some of the intaglio cuts of the main design have a depth extending to 250 to 300 µ, and in which at least one selective colour inking cylinder transmits the ink to the collector inking cylinder (5) in order to ink the intaglio cuts representing the main design, while the other selective colour inking cylinders transmit the ink to the collector inking cylinder (5) in order to ink the intaglio cuts representing the multicolour safety background.
  7. Intaglio printing machine according to one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the line connecting the axes of the impression cylinder (3) and of the plate cylinder (4) is perpendicular to the line connecting the axes of the plate cylinder (4) and the collector inking cylinder (5), and in that the impression cylinder (3) is located at least approximately vertically above the plate cylinder (4).
  8. Intaglio printing machine according to one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the plate cylinder (4) and the impression cylinder (3) are installed in a main frame (6), in that the collector inking cylinder (5) and the selective colour inking cylinders (7) are installed in a first carriage, and in that the inking devices (8) are installed in a second carriage.
  9. Intaglio printing machine according to one of Claims 1 to 8, characterized in that on the periphery of the collector inking cylinder (5) is a device (11) for the automatic washing of the blankets or respectively of the flexible and continuous surface of this collector inking cylinder (5), the said washing device (11) being put out of contact with this cylinder during the printing operation.
