Definitions
- the present invention relates to a ski boot comprising a lower shell-shaped part surrounding the foot and the heel, a collar-shaped rod articulated on this lower part and provided with closure means and auxiliary means elastically opposing a rotation of the upper forward, these auxiliary means consisting of an elongated bending piece articulated on the axis of articulation of the upper and extending, at least on one side of the shoe, obliquely the posterior lower part of the rod in the direction of the sole and bearing, behind the articulation axis, on a rim of the rod and, in front of the articulation axis, on the lower part of the shoe.
- the flexion piece consists of a steel hoop radially crossing the rivets of the articulation of the upper and engaged in a groove from the back of the rod, the ends of the hoop being retained by pinching in profiled projections of the shell.
- the arch is replaced by two bars. The hoop or bars provide great elasticity in bending but they are poorly integrated into the shoe and contribute little to the stiffness of the shoe in torsion.
- Document DE-35 30 243 also discloses a ski boot comprising a cuff-shaped rod articulated on the shell and consisting of a rear part and a front part.
- the front part has a slot defining a strip of elastic bending coming to rest, in bending, on a rim of the shell shaped so as to obtain a progressive resistance during the bending of the leg.
- the disadvantage of the bending strip created is that it reduces the resistance of the cuff and its torsional rigidity.
- the elasticity slot is eliminated and one is satisfied with the inherent elasticity of the front part of the rod. This elasticity is not controllable.
- the object of the present invention is to produce an auxiliary bending part which is better integrated into the shoe and which contributes to improving the other mechanical characteristics of the shoe.
- the shoe according to the invention is defined in claim 1.
- the strip can be made of various materials such as, for example, synthetic material, composite materials, glass fibers, carbon fibers.
- the band housed in its groove is in contact with the shell or the upper, becomes one with the shoe when the latter is subjected to torsional stress. It increases the stiffness of the boot in torsion and ensures a rapid transmission of the movements of the skier to the ski.
- the band has a "sandwich" effect on the shell and the upper which prevents the shell from twisting when the leg is bent.
- the band also contains the bulge of the shoe during flexion.
- the strip integrates aesthetically and can be used as a decorative element to obtain a new and original appearance.
- the strip extends between the shell and the rod, so that it is largely hidden.
- the flexible strip can also be provided with means for adjusting its flexibility.
- Figure 1 shows a ski boot according to a first embodiment.
- FIG. 2 is a detail view, in section along II-II of FIG. 1.
- Figure 3 shows a second embodiment
- Figure 4 shows a third embodiment.
- Figure 5 shows a fourth embodiment.
- the shoe shown in Figure 1 is of the variable volume type. It comprises a lower part 1 or bottom of the shell on which is articulated a rod 2 in the form of a collar surrounding the ankle. The articulation is ensured by two opposite pivots such as the pivot 3 visible in the view shown.
- the shoe can be closed and tightened by means of four loops 4 to 7, in known manner.
- the shell 1 has a wide oblique groove 8 formed by profiling the section of the shell, as shown in FIG. 2. This groove 8 passes under the rear lower part of the rod 2, part of which has been torn off, on the articulation 3 and under the sole 9.
- this groove 8 is disposed a strip 10 of synthetic material, the ends of which are fixed under the shoe, to the sole 9, by means not shown such as interlocking, hooking or using mechanical means such as screws or rivets.
- the strip 10 is further crossed by the axes of the pivots of the joint 3 and of the opposite joint.
- the part of the band passing over the back of the shoe has a narrowing, the lower edge 11 of which rests on a re-entrant rim 12 of the upper 2.
- the upper edge 13 of this narrowing which extends approximately up to the height of the joint 3, is at a certain distance from the upper edge 14 of the groove 8.
- the strip 10 can be made, for example, of polypropylene.
- the rod 2 is biased forward and its rim 12 lifts the posterior part of the strip 10, elastically deforming this strip 10.
- the limit of bending is reached when the edge 13 of the strip abuts against the edge 14 of the groove 8.
- the part of the strip located below the joint 3 also follows a deformation.
- This can for example be achieved by means of a button 15 moving in a longitudinal slot 16 provided in the strip 10.
- the slot 16 increases the flexibility of the strip, while the rod of the button 15 makes it possible to modify the length of the active part of the slot 16 and consequently the flexibility of the strip 10.
- the construction described also makes it possible to control the torsion of the sole of the boot by superimposing the layers of material, as is done for ski tips.
- the strip 10 could extend on one side of the shoe.
- the bottom of the shell 1 and the rod 2 are identical to the first embodiment.
- the rotary member 21 is used to adjust the flexibility of the band 10 'in the area below the joint 3. Depending on the angular position of the rotary member 21, one of the sides of the square 20 comes press against the edge 22 of the narrowing 18 of the strip 10 '. Depending on the side of the square 20 coming into contact with the edge 22, the strip 10 'offers a greater or lesser resistance to transverse deformation. It is thus possible to modify the flexibility of the strip 10 ′.
- the shoe according to the third embodiment, shown in Figure 4 consists of a shell bottom 1 and a rod 2 identical to the first embodiment and also has an identical groove 8.
- this groove 8 is mounted a band 10 '' whose part located above the joint 3 is identical to the corresponding part of the band 10, Figure 1.
- the band has a part 23 pleated like a bellows, giving this part the desired elasticity.
- the 10 '' strip is made of a more rigid material than the 10 and 10 '' strips, for example hard PVC.
- the shoe according to the fourth embodiment, shown in Figure 5 differs essentially from previous embodiments in that the band 10 '''ensuring flexibility extends outside of the upper 2''of the shoe which therefore differs from the upper 2 from the previous embodiments in that it has a groove 24 corresponding to the groove 8 of the previous embodiments, this groove 24 being limited on one side by a flange 25 directed outwards.
- the strip 10 ''' is fixed on both sides by the joints 3 of the rod 2'.
- the width of the strip 10 ''' is equal to the width of the groove 24 over its entire length. Below the joint 3, the strip 10 '''is connected to an approximately trapezoidal part 26 by a pleated 27 similar to the pleated 23.
- the part 26 is provided with a hole making it possible to fix the part 26 on one three studs 28, 29 and 30 of the bottom of the shell 1 '.
- the pleated 2 offers a greater or less resistance to the rotation of the band 10 '''around the joint 3 when it is driven by the flange 25, which makes it possible to modify the flexibility of the shoe.
- the bottom of the shell 1 ′ has a strip 31 extending the groove 24. This strip 31 has a purely aesthetic purpose here and therefore does not need to be profiled in the wall of the shell.
- the flexibility strip could extend outside the rod, as shown in FIG. 5. It is of course possible to provide other means for modifying the flexibility of the strip.
