Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a ski boot made of at least semi-rigid material consisting of a shell comprising the sole and surrounding the foot and the heel and a rod articulated on the shell around a transverse axis and of which at at least one part is tiltable back on the shell, and further comprising, at the rear, a connection mechanism between the shell and the rod consisting of a lever passing through the tiltable part of the rod and articulated by its lower end on the hull and connected by a connecting rod to said tiltable part of the rod, the lever and the rod constituting a toggle joint making it possible either to immobilize the rod relative to the hull in a position inclined forward for skiing, or release the rod allowing it to oscillate on the shell for walking and in the rest position.
  • the upper may be in one piece, as is the case for shoes with a top shoe or in two pieces, as is the case for shoes with a back shoe.
  • a shoe of this type is known from patent CH-A 639 250 of the applicant.
  • the user To move from the open, free position of the mechanism to the closed, locked position of the mechanism, the user must press the lever strongly to fold it against the shoe. During this closing movement, it must also overcome the resistance of the shoe itself to pass beyond the neutral position of the toggle, that is to say the position in which these three joints are aligned. The position in which the skier must press the lever is also inconvenient.
  • the present invention aims to facilitate the closure of the connecting mechanism.
  • the shoe according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises an elastic body housed in a cavity formed between the upper and one of the ends of the linkage mechanism articulated to the upper, this housing being limited towards the outside by an extension of said end directed substantially parallel to the axis of the connecting mechanism beyond its axis of articulation to the shoe, so that this elastic body is compressed when the opening mechanism liaison.
  • the elastic body for example a rubber ball disposed behind an extension of the link, therefore tends to oppose the opening of the connecting mechanism and therefore to favor its closing and to keep the mechanism in the closed position.
  • the skier wishes to pass from the rest or walking position to the descent position, he does not need to act on the lever to close the connecting mechanism but he just has to act on the rod.
  • the connection mechanism closes automatically by itself thanks to the effect of the elastic body placed at the end of the link. Since the inclination of the rod can be caused by the bending of the leg, the closing of the connecting mechanism can be carried out automatically.
  • the lever is therefore only used for opening by traction on the end thereof, this traction movement being much easier to execute than the pushing movement.
  • the elastic body can be arranged as well between the link and the upper as between the lever and the shell of the shoe.
  • a spring for example a torsion spring, also opposing the opening of the mechanism.
  • the elastic body and, where appropriate, the additional spring it is not necessary for the articulation axis of the link to the lever to exceed the straight line connecting the two other articulations of the mechanism, during the closing of the mechanism, because the elastic body and, if necessary, the additional spring, suffices to prevent the mechanism from deviating from its neutral position in which the three joints are aligned.
  • the opening of the connecting mechanism is thereby facilitated, since it is not necessary to first of all lengthen the connecting mechanism and to overcome the resistance of the shoe to reach the position of alignment of the joints.
  • the shoe partially and schematically represented, consists of a plastic shell 1, coming in one piece with a sole 2 and surrounding the foot and the heel, and of a rod comprising a rear part 3 articulated on the shell 1 around an axis 4 coinciding at least approximately with the articulation of the skier's foot.
  • the rod can be in one or two parts.
  • the two parts of the upper are articulated around the axis 4.
  • a large tilting back of the part 3 of the upper is possible due to a particular conformation of the shell in the region 5 of the heel, as described in patent application EP-A1 0 229 405 of the applicant.
  • a connecting mechanism 6 comprising a lever 7 whose lower end is articulated by means of an axis 8 on the shell 1 and whose an intermediate point is articulated by means of an axis 9 to a link 10 whose other end is articulated by means of an axis 11 to the rod 3.
  • the lever 7 passes through a cutout in the rod 3.
  • the axis 8 from the articulation of the lever 7 to the shell 1 is mounted in a space 12 in the shell, for example between two ribs or in a clearance, the heel of the inner liner, not shown felt, of the shoe abutting at 13, as described in patent application EP-A1 0 229 405 of the applicant.
  • the lever has a spout 14 giving the user grip for opening the connection mechanism 6.
  • a metal part 16 consisting of a folded sheet having in its upper part two parallel wings 17 between which is mounted the axis 11 of the link.
  • This axis 11 is more precisely mounted in two opposite openings 18 of the wings 17, openings directed in the direction of the joints of the connecting mechanism 6 and in which the axis 11 can move.
  • the rod 10 is not rectilinear, but it is bent at right angles to each of these ends so that it internally has a U-shaped profile in which is housed an elongated block 19 made of rubber or other elastomer which bears by its lower end against a bent part 20 of the sheet 16 itself fixed by means of a rivet on a frame 21 of the rod 3.
  • the element rubber 19 bears against the upper bent part of the link 10 carrying the hinge axis 11.
  • the link 10 further has an extension 22 beyond the axis 11, offset from this axis.
  • This extension 22, the upper face of the upper bent part of the rod 10 and the upper part of the sheet 16 with its wings 17 define a housing 23 in which is housed a rubber ball 24.
  • a helical torsion spring tending to oppose an opening of the connecting mechanism 6.
  • the link 10 In the closed position shown of the connecting mechanism shown in Figure 1 for skiing, the link 10 is in abutment against an angled outer edge 26 of the sheet 16, which also has the function of laterally retaining the elastic element 19, so that the joints 8, 9 and 11 of the connecting mechanism are aligned.
  • the upper 3 of the shoe In this closed position, the upper 3 of the shoe is held in a position slightly inclined towards the front.
  • the axes of articulation of the connecting mechanism 6 are aligned, the mechanism is not likely to open under the effect of compression, because the rubber ball 24, and the spring 9 oppose this opening .
  • the connection between the rod and the shell is not, however, rigid, but allows a certain elastic bending due to the presence of the elastic element 19. In fact, when the skier bends the leg by driving the rod 3, the axis 11 can move in the slots 18 by compressing the elastic element 19.
  • the skier can tilt the rod, respectively the part of the rod 3 backwards as shown in FIG. 2.
  • the rubber ball 24 is strongly compressed, that is to say deformed and the torsion spring 25 is tensioned.
  • the frictional forces of the rod on the shell are however sufficient to oppose the torques exerted by the elastic elements of the connecting mechanism which tend to pivot the rod 3 forwards.
  • the skier straightens the upper and closes the shoe buckle (s). It is then in a position corresponding to the rest position, position in which the connecting mechanism 6 is slightly open. As soon as the skier goes into the descent position, that is to say bends the leg, traction is exerted on the connecting mechanism 6 which tends to close. This closure is completed and ensured by the torque exerted by the compressed elastic ball 24, in the direction F2 on the extension 23 of the rod 10. It should be noted that the torsion spring 25, optional, also contributes to this closure, thus as the elastic member 19. These same elastic elements maintain the connection mechanism in the closed position.
  • the invention is susceptible of numerous variants.
  • the main variant consists in providing the extension 22 at the lower end of the lever 7 and in placing the rubber ball 24 between this extension and the shell.
  • the hinge pin 8 of the lever 7 could be mounted in lights similar to the lights 18 and the elastic element 19 could be mounted between the axis 8 and a stop integral with the shell, above the axis 8.
  • the elastic element 19 and the slots 18 could be eliminated.
  • the elastic element 19 could be constituted by any elastic member such as a spring.
  • the rubber ball 24 could be replaced by an elastic body of another shape or even by a spring.
