Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a ski boot consisting of a lower shell comprising the sole and the upper and surrounding the heel and of a rod, in one or two parts, articulated on this lower shell in two points coinciding at least approximately with the articulation of the user's foot and covering the upper edge of said lower shell surrounding the heel.
  • Shoes of the first type known as footwear from above, include a one-piece upper closing at the front, as described, for example in patent CH-549,970.
  • Shoes of the second type known as rear boot, include a rod formed by a front part and a rear part which fits into the front part to surround the skier's foot and can be folded back for the boot , as described, for example, in brevent FR-2,428,413.
  • the rear part of the upper can tilt back, because its axis of articulation, coincident with the axis of articulation of the upper is located below the articulation of the skier's foot.
  • Such an articulation of the upper is not adequate when skiing since it does not correspond to the natural articulation of the foot and generates pressure on the heel during forward bending.
  • the distance between the articulation of the upper of the boot and the articulation of the skier's foot also produces, during the flexion of the leg, a linear contact zone around the tibial support of the leg.
  • the invention aims to allow the upper of the shoe not only to straighten in the free position, but also to tilt backward at a relatively large angle, while being articulated around an axis coinciding with the joint. of the skier's foot.
  • the shoe according to the invention has the characteristics defined in claim 1.
  • An obstacle to this measure could appear to be, in the case of a shoe of injected synthetic material, a significant excess thickness of the shell in the region of the heel.
  • This obstacle can be removed by suitable measures, for example, by providing inside the hull of usual thickness, ribs directed forward and whose edges limit and define the space provided for the heel of the skier. or by cells or a double wall or by means of an attached filling part.
  • the shoe shown in Figures 1 to 3 comprises a shell 1 of molded synthetic material, this shell 1 comprising the sole and the upper of the shoe and surrounding the heel.
  • this shell 1 is articulated a rod 2 in one piece provided at the front with two legs 3 and 4 which fold over one another to close the rod, this closed position being maintained by any suitable means, for example a loop as shown in Figure 8.
  • the rod 2 surrounds the upper part of the shell 1, both at the front, above the instep, and at the rear around the heel.
  • the rod 2 is articulated on the shell 1 around an axis 5 corresponding at least approximately with the axis of articulation of the skier's foot, by means of two riveted metal axes 6 and 7.
  • the interior of the boot comprises a liner 8 and a wedge 9 constituting a plantar support giving the foot a certain forward inclination relative to the sole.
  • the front upper part 10 of the shell 1 rises relatively high, so that when the rod is closed and tightened, it can only very easily tilt back.
  • the rear part 11 of the shell surrounding the heel has an exterior rounded surface 12 extending over most of the height of the shell and the radius of curvature of the vertical section shown in Figure 1 is centered on the axis 5 of articulation of the rod 2.
  • the rod 2 at this same location of the heel also has a rounded inner surface 13, the vertical section of which shown in FIG. 1 has a radius of curvature also centered on the axis of articulation 5 and equal to the radius of curvature of the surface 12 of the shell.
  • the surfaces 12 and 13 coincide and are contiguous.
  • the rounded inner surface 13 is the continuity of the surface 12 of the shell above the heel and extends to the liner where it is connected to an almost cylindrical surface contiguous with the liner 8.
  • the rigidity of the upper is provided by two vertical ribs 15.
  • the heel 11 of the shell 1 does not correspond to the heel 16 of the liner 8, that is to say the position of the heel of the skier, but that there is a relatively large space between the heel 16 of the liner and the heel 11 of the shell. Since it is essential that the skier's heel is well held back in the shoe, this space must be filled.
  • this space is occupied by two vertical ribs 17 and 18 molded with the shell and extending forward, the front edges of these ribs 17 and 18 defining the envelope of the bearing surface of the heel 16 of the liner.
  • the rod 2 can tilt relatively far back since the external surface 12 of the shell and the inner surface 13 of the rod 2 coincide.
  • the surfaces 12 and 13 are contiguous according to a relatively large joint surface 14 in all positions of the rod relative to the shell, which ensures good sealing of the shoe.
  • the rear part of the upper is practically folded back as much as in a shoe with rear boot of known design, while the shoe shown is designed as a shoe with boot from the top, which has the consequence of greatly facilitating the fitting of the shoe.
  • To close the shoe simply push the rod 2 forward and close the loop provided on this rod.
  • the shoe can of course include additional clamping means for the foot, for example known clamping means disposed inside the shell on the instep, between the liner and the shell.
  • the plantar support 19, analogous to the plantar support 9, can be provided with a rear part 20 extending vertically and having on one side a surface 21 matching the internal surface of the part 11 of the shell and, on the other side, a surface 22 forming an adequate housing for the liner 16, that is to say for the heel of the skier.
  • the space is occupied by an insert 23, preferably made of plastic, fixed by means of a screw 24 to the part 11 of the shell 1.
  • cells 25, 26 and 27 are. formed during molding in an extra thickness of the shell, so as to leave an inner wall 28.
  • This structure is both light and rigid.
  • the space between the outer wall 11 of the shell 1 and the heel 16 of the liner, in particular the ribs 17 and 18, as well as the reinforcing ribs 15 of the upper 2, can advantageously be used to mount a control mechanism for the tilting the rod backwards or forwards and locking the rod in the closed position when skiing.
  • a control mechanism for the tilting the rod backwards or forwards and locking the rod in the closed position when skiing.
  • Such a mechanism is shown in Figures 8 to 12.
  • This mechanism is a toggle mechanism consisting of a lever 29 articulated at its lower end about an axis 30 mounted between and in the ribs 17 and 18 of the shell 1 and d 'a link 31 articulated at an intermediate point of the lever 29 by means of a pin 32 mounted between two cheeks 33 and 34 of the lever 29 ( Figure 12) and, at its other end, between and in the two ribs 15 of reinforcement of the rod 2 by means of an axis 35 capable of moving in slots 36 extending in the same direction as the ribs 15.
  • the lever 29 has an actuating end 37 in the form of U comprising the cheeks 33 and 34 and covering the articulation 32.
  • the articulation axis 32 is located between the straight line joining the axes 30 and 35 and the wall of the rod 2.
  • the axis 35 is pressed against the upper end of the lights 36 with pressure.
  • the rod In the closed position, for skiing, shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, the rod is held in the advanced position by the mechanism described.
  • the rod is further closed by a conventional loop 38 connecting the tab 4 to the side of the rod 2.
  • the elastic resistance to forward bending can be provided by the material of the shell 1 and the rod 2 or by auxiliary elastic means, on the instep, between the rod and the shell or arranged in the knee brace.
  • the shoes described above and shown in the drawing include a one-piece upper.
  • the upper could however also be in two pieces, as is the case with known shoes known as rear-fitting shoes.
  • the rear part of the rod can be produced in exactly the same way as the rear part of the rod 2 shown and it can also receive the end of a toggle mechanism as shown.
