Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for counting bundled notes, in particular banknotes, according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • banknote counters of this type are used in the further processing of freshly printed banknotes which, after they have been numbered and cut to size, are combined into banded packages with, for example, 100 or even 1000 consecutively numbered banknotes.
  • These packages of banknotes must be checked for completeness before they are packaged, this counting having to be carried out very quickly in the context of modern, largely fully automatic processing. Therefore, these banknote counters have a very high counting speed, which can be up to 200 banknotes per second.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a counting device of the type described in the preamble of claim 1, which has a significantly higher counting accuracy and in which separation errors when separating the notes are practically excluded.
  • the individual separating elements can be manufactured more easily than before and then only need to be attached to an endless belt, preferably a V-belt, without difficulty.
  • the number of separating elements and the length of the belt can be varied as required.
  • This belt can run without difficulty at a speed of, for example, five meters per second, which corresponds to a counting speed of approximately 200 notes per second in the case of banknote-sized bills.
  • Another advantage of the device according to the invention which increases the economy and processing capacity, is that, in addition to the straight section or the straight sections of the endless belt, two or even more counting points can be installed for the simultaneous counting of several packets with one and the same revolving separating elements.
  • the suction surface of the separating elements is delimited at the front and at the bottom by rectilinear and right-angled edges which lie in a common plane oriented parallel to the surface of the bill to be counted, and is, starting from its front edge, such from this plane curved away that their angle of inclination against this plane increases steadily.
  • the rear edge of the suction surface which includes the largest angle of inclination with the plane mentioned, is preferably also straight and perpendicular to the lower edge.
  • This design of the suction surface ensures that its front and bottom edges, which overlap the note to be counted along a parallel edge strip, lie in a straight line on the package and the edge strip that is sucked in does not simply lie around the line defined by the lower edge of the suction surface is bent, but rather undergoes a torsion.
  • This torsion can be chosen sufficiently large by choosing a fairly large angle of inclination of the rear edge of the suction surface of, for example, 15 ° to 30 °, preferably 20 ° to 25 °, in order to prevent with certainty that the following appearance will also undergo this torsional deformation.
  • the suction surface slides along the edge strip of the package, which for example can be 10 to 20 mm, preferably 14 to 18 mm wide, this edge strip of the foremost note is peeled off from the package, so to speak, while the lower edge of the suction surface holds this note on the package and the rear edge of the suction surface securely holds the then isolated bill in the counting position.
  • the lower front corner of the separating elements which are preferably fastened at a distance from one another on the endless belt, is rounded in a suitable manner.
  • the device has an endless belt in the form of a V-belt 21 which is installed on a frame 20 and is guided over the two pulleys 22 and 23.
  • These pulleys 22, 23 are mounted in two stands 20b of the frame 20 resting on a base plate 20a by means of ball bearings, FIG. 2 showing the shaft 25 of the pulley 22 supported in the ball bearing 24.
  • the shaft 25 On the side of the stand 20b facing away from the pulley 22, the shaft 25 carries a drive pulley 26 which is driven by a belt 27 by an electric motor 29, over the drive wheel 28 of which the belt 27 runs.
  • Two fastening pieces are used for the articulated fastening of the separating elements 1 30 and 31 (FIG. 1a), which are anchored to the V-belt 21 by means of screw bolts 33 (FIG. 2).
  • each separating element 1 in the direction of movement is articulated on the first fastening piece 30 by means of a joint pin 30a, while the rear end is articulated on the second fastening piece 31 with the aid of the joint pins 31a and 32a with the aid of the joint pins 31a and 32a.
  • a counting point 34 On the rectilinear section of the V-belt 21, which runs between the two pulleys 22 and 23 (lower according to FIG. 1), there is a counting point 34 with a package holder, which is mounted horizontally displaceable transversely to the direction of movement of the separating elements 1 within the frame 20 and from a base plate 35, a side wall 36 and a rear, height-adjustable plate 37.
  • the bills to be counted are bundled into a package P, which according to FIG. 2 consists of ten bundles with 100 bills each, surrounded by a band B, and rest upright with their lower narrow side edges on the base plate 35. The one on the left in FIG.
  • the base plate 35 is displaceably supported by means of rollers 38a on horizontal running surfaces 39a and by means of rollers 38b on vertical running surfaces 39b of two guide rails 39, the height of which is screwed to the uprights 20b. In this way, the package holder with the package P can be easily moved between the stands 20b during the counting.
  • the separating element 1 (Fig. 6 to 12) have the task of separating the bill S to be counted by suction when passing by the counting point 34 and temporarily holding this singled bill in a defined counting position, in which it can be read by a counting device which later is still described, is detected with certainty.
  • the surface of each separating element 1 facing the note to be counted is designed as a suction surface 2, the special shape of which will be explained later.
  • Each separating element 1 is arranged such that its suction surface 2 overlaps the upper narrow side edge of the foremost of the notes to be counted as it passes the counting point, namely along a region b oriented essentially parallel to this upper edge (FIG. 12).
  • This area b is sucked in by the suction surface as it slides past and is thereby bent in a defined manner from the rest of the package, as indicated schematically in FIG.
  • the isolated bill S then temporarily occupies a counting position and is counted by the counting device.
  • the separating elements 1 are also designed such that the edge region of a bill sucked in by a dividing element at the counting point engages behind the latter when the following separating element arrives and the next note is captured by the suction surface of this following separating element. As a result, all the counted notes in the package successively reach the other side of the separating elements.
  • a feed force exerted on the package holder in the direction of arrow F2 in FIG. 2 has the effect that, as the count progresses, the whole Package P together with the package holder is advanced accordingly and is moved between the two stands 20 b of the frame 20.
  • each separating element 1 as shown in FIGS. 6, 10 and 11, inner suction channels 16 are provided, which on the one hand on the suction surface 2 in suction openings 3 and on the other hand in openings 15 on the flat horizontal top 14 of a flange 13 which connects to the Suction surface 2 protrudes away from the side in the upper region of the separating element 1.
  • a suction strip 40 is screwed onto the frame 20 along the counting point 34 by means of fastening pieces 47 (FIGS. 3 to 5).
  • This squeegee 40 has a flat horizontal, downward-facing surface 41 with elongated holes 42, which are arranged in a row extending in the direction of movement of the separating elements 1, which in the example under consideration is almost twice as long as the row in FIG Suction openings 3 of a separating element 1.
  • These elongated holes 42 are connected via suction lines 43, 44 and 45, which run within the suction bar 40, to one or more suction air inlets 46, which can be connected to an external source of suction air.
  • two guide rails 51 and 52 are provided on the frame 20, which extend in the direction of movement of the separating elements 1 and lead them.
  • the separating elements 1 have two vertically oriented guide surfaces which are formed on the one hand by the end face 12 of the flange 13 mentioned and on the other hand by the end face 10 of an opposite flange 9 (FIG. 9) which is formed laterally projecting above the suction surface 2.
  • the underside 13a of the flange 13 forms a further guide surface.
  • the guide rail 51 has a vertically oriented guide surface 51a and is attached to the frame 20 with the aid of fastening parts 48 and screws 50 such that the end face 10 of the separating elements 1 from this guide surface 51a and the opposite end face 12 from a guide surface 40a provided on the suction bar 40 be performed.
  • the other guide rail 52 has a horizontally oriented guide surface 52a for guiding the underside 13a of the flange 13 and is fastened to the squeegee 40 by means of screws 40 such that the upper side 14 of the flange 13 having the opening 15 comes into contact with the surface having the elongated holes 42 41 of the suction bar 40 is held.
  • this groove at the entry point 53 (FIG. 4) is somewhat widened by slightly chamfering the surfaces delimiting it.
  • the guide surface 51a of the guide rail 51 (FIG. 3) is slightly beveled at the inlet end 53.
  • Figures 6 to 12 show the design of a separating element in detail.
  • the separating element 1 On the side facing the notes to be counted in the assembled state, the separating element 1 has the already mentioned suction surface 2 with the suction openings 3.
  • This suction surface 2 is formed by a front edge 4, seen in the direction of movement, a lower edge 5 which overlaps the note to be counted and runs parallel to its upper edge, and delimits a rear edge 6 (FIG. 6).
  • the lower front corner 4a is rounded or beveled.
  • the front edge 4 and the lower edge 5 run at right angles to one another, lie in a common plane E, which is oriented parallel to the surface of the banknotes in the package P, and therefore lie straight against the banknote S to be counted as they pass the counting point, which is held in this way along the lower edge 5 on the package behind.
  • the suction surface 2 is curved in such a way that, starting from its front edge 4, its angle of inclination ⁇ against the plane E mentioned, which passes through the front edge 4 and the lower edge 5, increases continuously in the direction of the rear edge 6 (FIGS. 10 to 12).
  • This rear edge 6 is also rectilinear and oriented perpendicular to the lower edge 5; it defines the maximum angle of inclination ⁇ max of the suction surface 2 at its rear end (FIG. 12).
  • the separating element 1 On its upper side, the separating element 1 has an upward-facing fastening flange 7, each with two openings 8 for the passage of the pivot pins 30a and 31a.
  • This mounting flange 7 is chamfered at the front and rear ends.
  • the flange 9 projecting above the suction surface is formed, which in the assembled state of the separating element 1 overlaps the package P somewhat at the counting point and the end face 10 of which is guided by the guide rail 51.
  • the underside 11 of this flange 9 forms an angle with the plane E mentioned, which in the example considered is only a little larger than 90 ° at the front edge 4 of the suction surface and is continuously increasing in the direction of the rear edge 6, the angle between the suction surface and bottom 11 remains practically the same over the length of the suction surface.
  • the inner edge between the suction surface 2 and the underside 11 is straight and parallel to the lower edge 5. Therefore, the height of the end face 10 decreases steadily in the direction of the rear edge 6 of the suction surface.
  • the rectangular flange 13 On the side facing away from the flange 9, the rectangular flange 13, the plane thereof, is provided on the separating element 1, below the fastening flange 7
  • Top 14 slides along the suction bar 40 and has the aforementioned openings 15, each of which is connected to one of the suction openings 3 via a suction channel 16 provided in the body of the separating element 1.
  • the flat underside 13a of the flange 13 is, as mentioned, guided through the guide rail 52 when a counting point passes.
  • the side of the separating element 1 facing away from the suction surface 2 has a sliding surface 17 for the counted bills gripping behind the separating elements.
  • This sliding surface 17 has a continuously increasing inclination towards the plane E from the front to the rear end of the separating element and is curved so convexly at the transition to the front rounded corner 4a that the front end 4b (FIG. 9), which is approximately triangular in cross section, tapers towards the front.
  • this tapered front end 4b can be gripped by the just counted note which is still in contact with the suction surface 2 of the preceding separating element, while at the same time the suction surface 2 sucks the following note.
  • a projecting step is provided above the sliding surface 17, which is delimited by an underside 18 and laterally by a flat end surface 19.
  • This end face 19 is surmounted by the flange 13 and is oriented at right angles to its underside.
  • the angle which the underside 18 forms with the end face 19 decreases in the example considered from the front to the rear end of the separating element.
  • the inclination of the underside 18 thus runs in the opposite sense to the inclination of the underside 11 of the flange 10, again the angle between the sliding surface 17 and the underside 18 remaining practically the same Inner edge between the sliding surface 17 and the underside 18 is straight and parallel to the lower edge 5 of the suction surface 2. Therefore, the height of the end face 19, measured from the flange 13, is smaller at the front end of the separating element 1 than at the rear end.
  • the example considered relates to a separating element 1 produced by mechanical processing. Therefore, the special curved shape of the undersides 11 and 18 and their angle of inclination to the suction surface 2 or to the sliding surface 17 are production-related and result from the shape of the milling cutter used.
  • the separating elements 1 can also be cast parts, for example made of chromed aluminum or plastic. If they are cast, the undersides 11 and 18 can also be designed differently, only the flange 9 having to be shaped in such a way that the area of the individual note S to be scanned is correctly detected by the optical counting device explained later for the purpose of counting.
  • the special design of the curved suction surface 2 has the result that the sucked-in edge strip of a bill is not only bent around the lower edge 5 of the suction surface, but at the same time is twisted around an imaginary straight line lying parallel to this lower edge 5. Since the resilience of paper, in particular banknote paper, is usually greater in the case of a torsional deformation than in the case of a pure bending deformation, it is ensured that an adjacent note that may have been taken in by the note that has just been sucked in and is to be counted, which possibly has something on the back of the sucked note is liable or is still seized by the suction effect, assumes its flat initial shape again before the bill to be counted has reached its maximum torsional deformation. Because of its inherent elasticity, the note that is taken along cannot follow this deformation.
  • the maximum torsional deformation can be chosen to be sufficiently large so that separation errors which previously hindered the correct functioning of known banknote counters can be avoided with certainty.
  • the maximum angle of inclination ⁇ max of the suction surface 2 at its rear edge 6 can be between 15 ° and 30 °, preferably between 20 ° and 25 °; In the example considered, this maximum angle of inclination ⁇ max is approximately 23 °.
  • the height b by which the upper side edge is overlapped by the suction surface 2 (FIG.
  • the suction power prevailing at the suction openings when a note is separated can be of different sizes and increase from the front to the rear edge of the suction surface 2.
  • first reflex button 61 which is directed at the counting point 34 onto the reflecting area 60 of the passing separating elements 1
  • second reflex button 62 which is attached next to the counting point and is thus aligned that it also scans the reflective zones 60 of the separating elements 1 moved past. If a note has been correctly separated and assumes its counting position adjacent to the suction surface 2, then the reflective zone 60 is naturally covered by this note S when scanning by the first reflex sensor 61, so that the laser beam cannot be reflected at this zone 60. In this case, the two relay buttons 61 and 62 deliver different measurement results, since of course the second reflex button 62 simultaneously reports a mirrored reflex, and a counter 64 connected to the two reflex buttons via an electronic circuit 63 switches on by one number.
  • a vacuum detector can also be provided in such a way that each time the sudden increase in negative pressure in the suction air system that occurs when a bill is placed on the suction surface is measured.
  • Another significant advantage of the counting device according to the invention is that two or even more identically constructed counting points, each with a package holder and a counting device, can be provided on the rectilinear section or on the rectilinear sections of the circumferential V-belt, so that several packages can be counted simultaneously.
  • suction surface is curved in such a way that the sucked-in edge strip is subjected to torsional bending.
  • the exact dimensions of the suction surface are expediently chosen depending on the paper quality.
  • the separating elements 1 can also be attached to the V-belt in such a way that they overlap somewhat.
