Abstract

A gravity operated mixing apparatus for pulverulent, granular and liquid materials has an upright vessel with an opening at the top and a sealable pyramidal or conical outlet at the bottom. The opening can be sealed by a closure which carries one or more mixing elements extending into the vessel to contribute to the mixing and/or agglomerating action while the vessel moves up and down and is oscillated or rotated about a horizontal axis to repeatedly raise its contents whereupon the contents descend by gravity and their flow is determined by the number and configuration of mixing elements which need not move relative to the vessel. The vessel can be used as a receptacle for delivery of a charge containing two or more flowable materials to the mixing station as well as for delivery of intermixed materials to the next processing station or stations.

Description

The invention relates to a gravity mixer for pharmaceutical products with a transport and storage container according to the preamble of the main claim.

It is a constant task in the pharmaceutical industry to homogenize difficult pharmaceutical and / or chemical products, it often being important that the products are not subject to surface abrasion during the mixing process. The mixing process should therefore be carried out as quickly and intensely as possible.

Since the chemical and pharmaceutical products are very often highly toxic products, transferring these products from a transport container into the mixer and from the mixer back into a transport container in order to then be transferred from it to the further processing stations is disadvantageous .

A mixing device for solid particles has become known from EP-A-77 162, in which a rotatably mounted receptacle for the material to be mixed is received Container is provided, wherein a mixing shaft is provided in the container, which is equipped with mixing blades and extends obliquely to the longitudinal axis of the container. Due to the design of the mixing element projecting into the container, the container itself can only be transported to a limited extent and, since the container itself is cylindrical, a particularly good mixing effect is not achieved.

A free-fall mixer has become known from FR-A-13 93 602, the container being designed as a double cone which can be easily handled by a forklift. The forklift can connect the double cone to a mixer. A disadvantage of these known devices is the relatively low mixing accuracy, since the material is not whirled and mixed well within the double cone. The same considerations apply to the mixer described in EP-A-38 058, in which a plate which otherwise serves as a shut-off plate can be set as a deflection plate, but which only results in a deflection and no thorough mixing of the material to be mixed.

In the generic FR-A-22 54 362 a double cone mixer is described, in which the mixing accuracy is to be improved in that, for example, baffles are installed in the lid-like container part. These relatively small baffles do not protrude into the other part of the container and do not lead to intensive mixing of the mix.

The invention has for its object to provide a gravity mixer for pharmaceutical products, which enables fast mixing times with low product stress and which can also be used as a transport container, so that this has hitherto been possible. U. necessary transfer of the often very toxic products is avoided.

This object on which the invention is based is achieved by the teaching of the main claim.

Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen sind in den Unteransprüchen erläutert.Advantageous configurations are explained in the subclaims.

In other words, the invention proposes a gravity mixer that can be connected to a conventional pharmaceutical lifting column, the gravity mixer being designed as a transport container. Connection devices for the transport and storage container are carried by the pharmaceutical lifting column, whereby then a rotating or tumbling movement of the transport and storage container can be brought about via the pharmaceutical lifting column and a corresponding load reversing gear. This transport and storage container then serves as a mixing container. In order to achieve good, intensive and uniform mixing with high mixing accuracy, at least one mixer element is used in the transport and storage container, which is arranged on a lid-like closure. The usual lid-like closure of the container can be exchanged for the closure equipped with the mixing elements and now the mixing elements in the interior of the container cause an additional movement in the mixing material during the rotating or swiveling movement of the container, with the material to be mixed not only from above each time the container is rotated down, but is additionally conveyed by gravity at 180 ° rotation to one of the two sides. Due to the symmetrical design of such mixing elements, the material is mixed with each rotation of the container in the counter-rotating process and a good mixing intensity and mixing accuracy can be demonstrated, which almost equals the positive mixing advantageous in terms of mixing accuracy. At the same time, the product is stressed very gently.

At the end of the mixing process, the same transport and storage container is used to load tablet presses, for example, and the special cover equipped with the mixing elements can be exchanged for a conventional cover.

In addition to the advantageous nature of the Mixing process is thus achieved by the proposal according to the invention that the previously required filling and emptying of a separate mixer is no longer necessary, so that the handling of the often very toxic products is improved.

Surprisingly, it was also found that pelleting of goods is also possible with the gravity mixer designed according to the invention. If only a small amount of moisture is added to a dusty material filled into the transport and storage container and the container is then set in the prescribed tumbling motion, the material is pelletized, so that it is possible to subsequently pelletize the material after an intensive mixing process, which is particularly important in the pharmaceutical industry.

In the drawings, 1 denotes a pharmaceutical lifting column, in which a lifting carriage 2 is arranged, which is driven by a lifting drive 3. The pharmaceutical lifting column 1 carries a load reversing gear 4, to which a receiving eccentric 5 connects, which is equipped at its end according to FIGS. 2 to 4 with a fork piece 7, which can be moved into drive pockets 6 arranged on a transport and storage container 8.

The transport and storage container 8 has a discharge cone 14 and 11 denotes a chassis for transporting this container.

Opposed to the discharge cone 14 is a filling opening in the transport and storage container 8, which is closed by a closure lid 10, which can be equipped with grommets 12 and which carries mixer elements 9 and 9a, the design and design of which are more clearly shown in FIGS. 1, 4 and 7 is recognizable.

In the exemplary embodiment described, two mixer elements 9 and 9a are provided which extend in the longitudinal axis Y-Y of the transport and storage container and are arranged obliquely with respect to the axis X-X of the storage container. The walls of the mixer elements are preferably concave, as can be clearly seen in FIG. 7.

The central longitudinal axis Z of the mixer elements 9 and 9a is in the first and third quadrants I and III, see above as the plan view in Fig. 4 clearly shows. 1 and 4, the mixer elements 9, 9a are shown with closed walls. However, slots or other through openings can also be provided here.

In Fig. 1, the path of the product to be mixed is designated by the reference symbol W and it can be seen that with each rotary movement of the mixer container 8, regardless of whether it is a complete revolution or a reciprocating pivoting movement, the mix in addition to the free fall caused by gravity, is deflected by the mixer elements 9 and 9a and thereby continuously performs a circulating movement, which leads to a gentle but intensive mixing of the material.

When the mixing process has ended, the closure lid 10 with the mixer elements 9 and 9a arranged thereon can be removed and replaced with a normal closure lid, and the container 8 can then be guided, for example, to the subsequent processing stations via the chassis 11.

In den Fig. 5 und 6 ist eine abgeänderte Ausführungsform des Transport- und Lagerbehälters dargestellt.5 and 6, a modified embodiment of the transport and storage container is shown.

While in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4 the container 8 is round and the discharge cone 14 is designed as a round truncated cone, in the embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6 a container 18 is polygonal, preferably square, and a discharge cone 24 also has a corresponding polygonal shape. In addition, this container 18 is equipped with a support frame 27 which is firmly connected to the container.

The fork pieces 7 still required in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4 are no longer necessary, but a sealing cover 20 carries the mixer elements 9 and 9a, the sealing cover 20 being able to be coupled to a connecting device 21 or being firmly carried by the connecting device 21 . By connecting the closure lid 20 to the container 18 and the connection device 21, the entire container 18 is now carried exclusively by the connection device 21 via the closure lid 20.

The connecting device 21 is designed as an eccentric angle with a horizontal arm 26 and a vertical arm 25, the vertical arm 25 connecting to the load reversing gear 4 of the pharmaceutical lifting column 1.

It can be seen that the arrangement described with reference to FIGS. 5 and 6 enables a greater variation for the containers to be carried by the pharmaceutical lifting column 1, the handling of the containers during operation also being simplified, since for example the transport and storage container 18 can be moved using a normal forklift.
