Claims (9)

1. Installation for the treatment of unripe fruit, especially plums, characterised in that it comprises, in combination:
- a container (1) for receiving loose unripe plums, having means for washing and pre-drying the plums,
- an elevator belt (2) for removing the unripe plums from the container,
- an overhanging sorting screen (3) which is supplied with unripe plums by the elevator belt,
- at least two tray transport chains (5A, 5B) which pass beneath the sorting screen in two different places and receive therefrom unripe plums of different sizes,
- at least two platform elevators (8A, 8B), each of which is mounted at the end of one of the two tray transport chains, which permit the stacking of trays onto trolleys, and
- means (90, 91) for carrying the trolleys into a cooking oven (9).
2. Installation according to claim 1, characterised in that the sorting screen (3) comprises a series of cords (30) that are movable side by side in a closed loop, the distance between the cords increasing along the path of the unripe fruit from the entrance to the sorting screen.
3. Installation according to claim 1, characterised in that the elevator belt (2) is provided with washing means (28).
4. Installation according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that each transport chain (5) comprises:
- first means (50) for conveying trays in a line so that they pass in line with one of the exit points (38A, 38B) of the sorting screen,
- second means (60) for rapidly conveying a tray, which means are provided with means for transferring the tray in order to stack it on a trolley carried by the associated platform elevator.
5. Installation according to claim 4, characterised in that the trays are conveyed by a first and a second endless chain which are arranged in the first and the second conveying means, respectively, and which are driven by the same motor at different linear speeds.
6. Installation according to claim 5, characterised in that the motor is situated on the downstream side of the second conveying means.
7. Installation according to claim 5 or 6, characterised in that the second conveying means (60) have a push member for transferring a tray onto the trolley.
8. Installation according to claim 7, characterised in that the second conveying means (60) have a third chain the operative part of which runs above that of the second chain, and in that the third chain is driven by a separate motor which also operates two push rollers each located at the end of an arm.
9. Installation according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the first (50) and the second (60) conveying means have drums and rollers which are in line and which serve to support the trays continuously by means of their lateral flanges.
