Definitions
- the present invention relates generally to cleaning devices for toilet bowl seats.
- FR-A-2 316 905 and FR-A-2 525 254 both teach devices intended for the sequential and fully automatic cleaning of bowl seats. More specifically, several seats are conveyed by drive means along a complex path in a large cabinet, in which are provided brush cleaning means and water spray as well as drying means. Thus, one or more seats are cleaned while another seat rests on the bowl for normal use thereof.
- Such devices are however disadvantageous in that they require one or more manual interventions by the user (inter alia, maneuvering the flap), and in that the risks of fruity are nevertheless high.
- the invention aims to overcome these drawbacks of the prior art and to propose a toilet seat bowl cleaning device which is entirely simple and reliable to operate, and this with reduced dimensions.
- Another object of the invention is to propose a device in which all the operations are executed automatically, without user intervention.
- the present invention relates to a cleaning device for the seat of a toilet bowl, characterized in that it comprises, in combination: An enclosure extending vertically in the posterior region of the bowl, and the anterior face of which is at least partially defined by an access hatch, ⁇ Transport means for bringing the seat from a position of use, in which it extends horizontally on the bowl, to a cleaning position, in which it extends vertically in the enclosure, and for simultaneously controlling the opening and closing of the access hatch, said means of transport comprising a motorized assembly with bi-directional vertical movement connected by connecting members to a rear region of the seat and to the access hatch, Lifting means provided in the enclosure and arranged to spray washing water onto the seat, ⁇ Drying means arranged to circulate air in the enclosure, and ⁇ Timed control means of the motorized assembly, washing means and drying means.
- a sanitary bowl seat cleaning device of the present invention is mounted in the posterior region of a conventional bowl 10. It comprises a rectangular enclosure or casing, for example made of sheet metal, formed by a hollow bottom tank 12, a box 14 with vertical walls and a cover 16. In the front face of the box 14 is formed a substantially rectangular hatch 18, which is pivotally mounted at its upper end about a horizontal axis 20. Thus, the hatch 18 is suitable for be open at its lower end to allow, by combined means described below, to bring into the box, for cleaning purposes, a seat or "seat" 22 as conventionally provided on the bowl 10.
- FIG. 1A illustrates the normal state of the device, the seat 22 resting on the bowl 10 and the enclosure being closed.
- FIG. 1B illustrates an intermediate stage of the transfer of the seat 22 into the enclosure for cleaning purposes, the hatch 18 being open for this purpose.
- FIG. 1C illustrates the state in which the hatch 18 has closed in a sealed manner, the cleaning of the seat inside the enclosure thus being able to take place.
- the enclosure houses a horizontal upper plate 24 whose dimensions are substantially adapted to those of the horizontal section of the enclosure.
- the plate 24 is supported in the enclosure by an angle 26 fixed, for example welded, on the inner face of the rear wall of the box 14, as well as by the upper edges of two re-entrant frames 28 provided at the periphery of the opening of the box in which the hatch 18 is provided.
- an electric motor 30 On the upper surface of the plate 24 is fixed an electric motor 30 with two directions of rotation, for the purposes explained below.
- Transmission means (not shown), such as toothed wheels or similar, are provided between the motor 30 and the toothed pulley 32a.
- the two pulleys can thus be selectively driven in rotation in one direction or the other, and this in synchronism, for the purposes explained below.
- each notched pulley 32a, 32b is integral extends vertically downwards into a threaded rod or lead screw, respectively 36a and 36b.
- the lower ends of the two lead screws are pivoted in appropriate bearings (not shown).
- These bearings are formed in a lower cross member 38 which has the shape of a horizontal rectangular plate and which is connected to the upper plate 24 by means of two vertical uprights 40a, 40b which extend parallel to the mother screws internally by compared to these.
- the assembly in the box 14 is secured by two vertical assembly rods 41a, 41b ( Figure 3A) associated with nuts (not shown).
- the uprights have the shape of cross-sectional profiles in "U" open towards the outside, for guidance purposes as explained below. It can be noted here that, when the assembly described above is put into place in the box, a central compartment is defined, in which the washing and drying of the seat will take place, and two lateral compartments which house most moving mechanical parts.
- a threaded sleeve On each of the lead screws 36a, 36b is mounted a threaded sleeve, respectively 42a and 42b. Between the two threaded sleeves extends horizontally a movable cross member 44. The latter is connected to the sleeves by means of appropriate rigid connections 46a, 46b which respectively bypass the uprights 40a, 40b. As shown in particular in Figure 4, a horizontal axis 48 is pivotally mounted in plain bearings 47a, 47b of the two connections 46a, 46b and extends parallel to the movable cross member 44. At the free ends of the axis 48, between the connections 46a, 46b and the vertical uprights 40a, 40b, are pivotally mounted on the rollers, respectively 50a and 50b. These rollers are received inside the grooves defined by said uprights, thereby guiding the vertically movable assembly consisting of threaded sleeves 42a, 42b, connections 46a, 46b, of the crosspiece 44 and of the axis 48 .
- a first smooth sleeve 52 which is integral with a support member 54 of the seat 22 of the bowl.
- a pin 56 intended to allow the pivoting of the seat 22, in the manner of a conventional seat.
- the axis 48 also pivotally receives two smooth sleeves 58a and 58b which are respectively integral with the first ends of two links 60a, 60b.
- the other ends of the links 60a, 60b are pivotally mounted on the inner face of the hatch 18, in the region of the middle of the latter in the vertical direction, by means of appropriate bearings 62a, 62b (see FIG. 4).
- helical tension springs 64a, 64b which are mounted between the support member 54 of the seat 22 and the middle of the links 60a, 60b. Torsion springs can also be used mounted between the smooth sleeves 54 and 58a, 58b, respectively.
- Limit switches are mounted on the upper plate 24, for a purpose which will be described later.
- the device as described so far further has washing means, which comprise a washing arm 66 rotatably mounted substantially in the center of the interior face of the hatch 18.
- the washing arm is of the type whose rotation is triggered by pressure water, and is supplied by a tubing 68 for washing water inlet which extends from a notch 70 formed for its passage in the rear wall of the box 14, below the plate 24 bypassing the organs that carries the latter, and at an angle towards the axis of the washing arm 66.
- the tube 68 is provided flexible at least in the pivot region of the hatch 18, so as not to impede the movements of the latter.
- the bottom tank 12 of the enclosure of the device is arranged to recover the wastewater and evacuate it through an opening 72 connected to an appropriate evacuation pipe (not shown).
- drying means which comprise, in the present embodiment, a hot air inlet pipe, indicated at 74 in FIGS. 3A, 3B and 4, which makes it possible to introduce hot air in the associated side compartment (see above).
- the hot air is introduced into the central compartment by a plurality of slots in the form of vertical slots 76a (FIGS. 2 and 4) formed in the corresponding frame 28 of the box 14.
- the drying air is taken up by similar lights 76b formed in the opposite member of the box, thus entering the second lateral compartment, from which it is discharged through a plurality of slots 76c formed in the p osterior face of the latter.
- the device finally comprises a control block, indicated at 78 in FIGS. 1A to 1C.
- This block 78 houses, in the present embodiment, and in a nonlimiting manner and not illustrated as conventional for a person skilled in the art, a washing water tank provided with a heating resistor; a reservoir of washing and / or sanitizing agent; an electric washing pump; if necessary, in the case where the washing solution is recycled, a drain pump; water inlet and washing agent metering solenoid valves; a thermostat, liquid level contacts and other auxiliary automation devices.
- a sheath 80 is provided between the control unit 78 and the device mounted on the bowl.
- This houses in the present example a supply line for washing water, connected to the tube 68, a tube for supplying the hot drying air, connected to the tube 74, and the connected electrical conductors. to the motor 30, to the limit switches 65, 67 and to the force limiter.
- the sheath 80 may also house an inlet pipe for the cold water in the network, as well as a return pipe for the washing water for recycling purposes.
- a predetermined operating cycle can be accomplished using the timed control unit. This cycle can be initiated by any manual or automatic means.
- An initial part of the cycle (as described below) can be triggered by simply pressing a control button provided on the control unit 78.
- the start of the cycle can be triggered by the introduction by the user of '' a room in a conventional coin mechanism, such a solution being particularly suitable for public places.
- a coin mechanism can of course be installed in any suitable location of the toilet.
- the cycle can continue, as will be seen below, by being synchronized with the manual triggering of the flushing of the associated sanitary installation.
- An electric contactor will be provided in this in the flushing installation to detect such a maneuver.
- Another solution will consist in triggering the continuation of the operating cycle automatically by the departure of the user, using, for example, a photocell, an electrical contact combined with the lock on the room door, etc.
- the operation of the cleaning device proper is as follows. First of all note that, in the rest position of the device, the seat 22 is clean and dry, but inside the box.
- the timing control unit first of all causes the rotation of the electric motor 30, in order to rotate the two mother screws 36a, 36b in a direction such that the threaded sleeves 42a, 42b descend progressively along of these from a high position, in which the seat 22 hangs vertically in the central compartment of the box and the hatch 18 is closed against the box 14.
- the hatch 18 closes, which is detected by the contactor 67, thereby interrupting the rotation of the motor 30.
- the seat 22 is then rested on the bowl 10.
- the user can then use the toilet bowl in a conventional manner.
- the means for initiating the continuation of the cycle as described above (by flushing or leaving the user), cause the execution of the reverse movements of those described above, thereby bringing the seat 22 in a vertical position in the central compartment of the box.
- the limit switches 65 and 67 then detect respectively the upper end position of the movable cross member 44 (and therefore of its axis 48) and the correct closing of the hatch 18 (for safety purposes), thereby interrupting the upward movement and inform the control unit that washing can then take place.
- the electric pump associated with the washing water tank is then started by said unit to supply the washing arm 66. The latter then enters into rotation while projecting the washing water through a plurality of suitable holes, as indicated at 82 in FIG.
- the means for heating and blowing hot air contained in the control unit 78 are switched on, also for a predetermined period and along the path as described above, so as to dry the seat 22.
- the device stops and we find the starting situation mentioned above (seat retracted, clean and dry), and the toilet bowl is ready for a new use.
- the electric motor 30 can be fitted with any force limiting device, for example of the type with elastic mounting of the motor on its base, in association with an electric contact, which will open in the event of overreaction.
- any force limiting device for example of the type with elastic mounting of the motor on its base, in association with an electric contact, which will open in the event of overreaction.
- Such a limiter will provide mechanical protection of the device, as well as protection of malicious users who would try to hinder in any way the various movements of the moving parts.
- the operating cycle of the device is not limited to the above description either.
- it can be executed at one time from a position in which the seat rests on the bowl and must be cleaned.
- the device according to the embodiment described is easily removable, for maintenance or other purposes. Indeed all the mechanical assembly contained in the enclosure, including the hatch 18 and the seat 22, is not connected to the latter by the assembly rods 41a, 41b described above, and the disassembly of these- Ci, after the uncoupling of the pipes and electrical cables coming from the control block, allows to extract the block upwards said mechanical assembly.
