Abstract

In order to connect small electric apparatus having for example a two-pin configuration or a European flat plug into any of the international standard plugging systems according to need, a handy pentaprism-shaped connector has on its sides plug pin arrangements (2) for five different plugging systems and contains a revolving body (4, 7) which has in the area of the top and/or bottom surface of the connector sockets for two more plugging systems. These can be manually snapped (8, 9) into contact (3, 5, 6) with the plug pin arrangement (2) of the connector needed at any time, the remaining plug pins being then absolutely deprived of any voltage.

Description

The invention relates to an electrical connector in the form of an adapter so that, for example, when traveling abroad, the (small) devices equipped with the power plugs used in the respective home country without protective contact in the manner of an adapter can also be used on the sockets present in other countries and continents to be able to.

For this purpose, so-called travel plug sets are known, which consist of several intermediate plugs, each of which is only suitable for adapting the local plug system to a specific other. Since a user is often not aware of which special plug-in system is used in another country, and consequently he always has to carry several adapter plugs loose as easily as lost, this design has not proven itself. Furthermore, attempts have already been made to design one and the same adapter plug by means of a sliding mechanism and by unscrewing individual plug pins for several different plug systems. However, this version is extremely complicated and can hardly be handled properly and safely by a non-specialist even with the aid of the operating instructions.

In view of this, the object of the invention is to develop an electrical connecting piece by means of which the plug systems available worldwide can be converted practically and in a manner that is safe from hazards to the possibility of drawing current from a specific type of socket. It is supposed to be a compact article of daily use that does not allow any manual intervention in its contact system and is completely safe to touch when in use.

This object is achieved in an electrical connector according to the preamble of claim 1 by the features specified in its characterizing part. In such an embodiment, the connector according to the invention advantageously presents itself as a handy accessory which, depending on the type of plug system present on site, can be inserted with the corresponding plug pin arrangement into one of the permanently installed sockets or possibly also into a flying coupling piece, in order to the adjustment of the marked rotating body in the direction of the tapping point to be able to use the domestic socket included in the same for the connection of an electrical device carried along. In addition, the plug-in system selector contained in the connector, via a switch-on and switch-off effect which is sometimes useful, ensures that the plug connector arrangements which are in each case unused stand out from the outside absolutely free of tension.

Likewise, the connector body for a more limited area of application of the connecting piece and only three or four connector pin arrangements can be designed in its geometrical three-dimensional form with the same advantages as tri-or tetragonal-prismatic, or the adjustable sockets provided on its top and / or base surface according to their system can be interpreted in the same way or differently without thereby falling outside the scope of the invention.

The feature of claim 2 is directed to the appropriate design of the movable connection and contact parts of the connector. Accordingly, the two socket contact pieces inserted underneath the respective plug-in openings and held on the rotating body by means of integrally formed web attachments likewise consist of an elongated, U-shaped folded sheet brass strip. The parallel longitudinal legs of these socket contact pieces, which are connected to one another via the web-like reduced cross leg, are arched against one another and each provided with two opposite transverse slots. In this way, three mutually independent plug-in areas are formed, which make it possible, for example, to accommodate a pair of plugs in the middle from one side and, at the same time, to independently accommodate two further pairs of plugs next to it from the other side. Furthermore, the outer longitudinal legs of the socket contact pieces are continued via a punched-out section in protruding sliding contact arms which, in the assembled state of the connecting piece under spring tension, with the fixed contact pieces of the various plug pin arrangements located on a circular path on the inner wall of the hollow body of the plug body, depending on the setting come into contact with one another.

In order to mechanically ensure the different contact positions on the connecting piece, it is provided according to the feature of claim 3 that the rotating body provided on at least one outside with a handle border drawn up around the plug insertion recess has a number of locking cams corresponding to the existing plug pin arrangements within an annular cavity thereof, which in each contact position of the rotating body and its socket (s) on the side of the plug body simultaneously grip three latching webs which are molded up and pulled up at a functionally corresponding point. In this way it is ensured that the rotating body engages clearly in the required contact position, whereby the same is also indicated by a visual mark on the handle border indicating the selected pin arrangement.

According to the feature of claim 4, the rotating body is designed to connect the existing plug pin arrangements of the plug body on one or on the two plug-free sides of the connector with a socket or with two sockets of the same system or different systems. For this purpose, the rotating body is composed of two molded parts made of insulating material that are movably guided on both sides within the plug body, which interlock, for example, by means of two supporting webs located opposite each other in the edge area between the socket contact pieces, while a third, integrally molded web, the screwing of the molded parts in the course of assembly from the outside here. Here is z. B. one of the molded parts with two insertion openings for a contour or protective plug, while the other molded part can have four pairs of parallel insertion openings for the insertion of two European flat plugs. On the other hand, it is also possible to replace one of the moldings mentioned above with a correspondingly designed cover plate if there is no need for a second socket arrangement.

As an exemplary embodiment of the invention, an electrical connecting piece is shown in the accompanying drawing, which enables the connection of an electrical device equipped with a 2-pole contour or European plug without a protective contact to all internationally standardized plug-in systems. It shows:
  • 1 is a plan view of the top surface of the connector with the socket for the contour plug,
  • Fig. 2 shows the view of the base with the sockets for two European flat plugs, and
  • Fig. 3 shows the connector as shown in Fig. 1 with the rotary body molding removed.

As can be seen from the illustrations, the connector body (1) of the connecting piece has the shape of a straight, five-sided prism from a geometric point of view and has a cylindrical recess extending from the top surface to the base surface within its central region. In each of the five side surfaces of the plug body (1) one of the different plug pin arrangements (2) is permanently embedded, the pole contact connections of which run out on the inner wall of the cylindrical recess on a circular path in fixed contact pieces (3).

Furthermore, it can be seen from Fig. 3 of the drawing that the two socket contact pieces (5), which are held on the base part of the connecting piece forming part (4) of a rotating body at the four insertion openings for the plug pins of two European plugs by means of integrally formed web approaches, and divided into 3 parts and additionally provided on their outer longitudinal legs with angled protruding sliding contact arms (6), each of which comes into conductive contact at the same distance with that pair of the aforementioned fixed contact pieces (3) of one of the plug pin arrangements (2) on which the The rotating body has been set by hand using the molded part (7) which forms the cover surface of the connecting piece and has been removed for the sake of clarity in FIG. 3. For this purpose, the molded part (7) of the rotating body, which is provided with two insertion openings for the plug pins of a contour plug, is at the same time provided with an (arrow) marked grip border (8), under which the locking arrangement (9 ) is in interaction with the connector body (1).

Accordingly, it can be seen from the graphic representation without further information that the combination of the various plug and socket contact elements (2, 5) presented here only as an example can be varied depending on national requirements and that the connector, due to its constructive design, also includes the inclusion of another Contact element, e.g. B. an additional protective contact.
