<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Spring clamp for electrical installation devices
The invention relates to a spring clip for electrical installation devices, such as switches, connectors, sockets and. Like., With a clamping plate arranged in a recess of the device and a clamping spring which rests against the clamping plate and can be lifted from it by means of a manually operated pressure piece, so that the wire end to be fastened can be inserted and held between the clamping plate and the clamping spring. In the known devices of this type, two wires to be connected to one another can only be inserted into the terminal on opposite sides. Another disadvantage of the known clamps is that their pressure pins for actuating the clamp are made of metal and are therefore conductive.
Finally, other known clamps designed with coil springs are entirely made of metal and must be operated with a tool when the wire or wires are to be inserted.
In contrast, the invention consists in that the clamping plate consists of interconnected, the shape of the recess and approximately the rounding of the wire insertion holes of the device housing correspondingly designed parts, in which curved ends of these plate parts engages a finger arranged on the clamping spring. As a result, on the one hand, special holding means for the clamping plate designed corresponding to the shape of the recess are avoided and, on the other hand, perfect contact with the inserted, likewise round wire end is achieved, which is pressed against the plate.
The invention also consists in the fact that the spring leg of the clamping spring resting against the pressure piece is divided into several tongues by slotting and that each tongue has an extension resting against the pressure piece and a finger for clamping the conductor. This design allows multiple wires to be clamped with just one spring clip. According to the invention it is also possible that the clamping plate has an angle piece as a support for the one spring leg and a second angle piece as a support for the movable finger of the clamping spring or for receiving the conductor wire to be clamped. In addition, the invention consists in that the clamping plate is U-shaped, the U-shaped web serving to support the one spring leg and the U-legs serving to support the movable fingers or to accommodate the lead wires to be clamped.
The clamp according to the invention is therefore suitable for use as a double clamp.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the curved end of the clamping plate can have a recess into which the tabs of the spring legs engage in a holding manner.
The invention can also lie in the fact that the pressure piece consists of two approximately plate-shaped plates connected to a shaft, one of which is arranged for manual actuation and the other for actuation of the clamping spring between this and the housing wall, which is penetrated by the shaft of the pressure piece is. According to the invention, however, it is also possible that the pressure piece is designed approximately C-shaped in cross section, with one C-leg being the wall of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Device engages behind and engages the spring leg, whereas the other C-leg is outside the device and is used for manual operation.
Finally, the invention also consists in that a cover closing off the recess has a projection which engages in the recess for the pressure piece in order to secure it in position.
The invention is illustrated in several exemplary embodiments in the drawings. 1 shows a plan view of part of an electrical installation device without a cover plate with the spring clips, one of which is a single terminal and the other is a double terminal. FIG. 2 shows a side view of the installation device according to FIG. FIG. 3 shows a section along the line A-B of FIG. 1 with the conductor of a single terminal not inserted. FIG. 4 shows a section along the line C-D of FIG. 1 with the conductor of a double terminal inserted. FIG. 5 shows a section along the line E-F of FIG. 1 with the conductor inserted in the double terminal. Fig. 6 shows a perspective view of the clamping spring for individual clamping. 7 shows a perspective view of the clamping spring for double clamping.
8 shows a clamping plate for individual clamping in a perspective view. In a further example, FIG. 9 shows a view of a spring clamp inserted in a device base for two line connections without a cover and for screwdriver actuation of the clamping spring in an enlarged representation. FIG. 10 shows a side section to FIG. 9 with the cover placed on the base in an enlarged illustration. 11 shows a view of a spring clamp without a cover for two line connections with a push button as a clamping spring actuating element in an enlarged illustration and FIG. 12 shows a side section of FIG. 11 with a cover in an enlarged illustration.
In the base or housing-1-- (Fig'l is 8) of an electrical installation device, such as a switch, socket, button, junction box or the like, the clamping spring-2 is located in a cavity-1 or a chamber-1 a -and the clamping plate --3-- each for individual clamping. The clamping spring for individual clamping consists of the two legs-2a and 2b-, which in the present example are combined in an approximately V-shape. The leg --2a-- serves as a support leg in the housing recess or opposite the clamping plate --3-- and the leg --2b-- is used to clamp a wire and to operate an operating element, e.g. B. push button or the like., Determined.
The leg 2b has two lobes for this purpose - 2c and
EMI2.1
--2c- zurLappen --2d-- is designed as a kinking end extension of the resilient leg-2b- for a better fit of the actuating element --4--. The clamping plate --3-- for single clamping is essentially designed as an angle piece. With its one leg --3a-- it is supported in the housing or in the base of the device, this leg depending on the task of the clamping plate can also have contact pieces-3b and 3c-molded, z. B. can be used to make contact with other contact pieces or to store contact pieces.
The leg - -3d--, which is also supported in the housing or base of a device, has a roof-shaped design at its end - 3e-, which serves as a counter bearing for a lead wire to be inserted or clamped. The roof - 3e - is provided with a recess - 3f - into which the tab --2c- of the clamping spring can penetrate further if the conductor is thinner than about the height of the roof. At the same time, during the pre-assembly, the clamping spring and the clamping plate can lock with one another through this device, so that the entire clamp can be conveniently inserted into the chamber of the housing or base.
Between the tab --2d - and the housing or base wall - 1b - the push button --4- is also arranged or clamped, which consists of the flat plates - 4a and 4b - and the web - 4c . The plate - 4a - is wide enough to be able to operate it well with one finger (Fig. 2). The pressure stroke of the push button - 4 or 7 - is limited by a stop so as not to overstrain the spring. For this z. B. also the plate-4a-, which strikes against the housing-l-from the outside. But the stop can also be inside the housing, for. B. by the plate 4b either on the housing itself or on the clamping plate 3 or 7.
When dimensioning the stroke, it is only necessary to ensure that it is as large or slightly larger than the thickest conductor intended for the terminal connection. At the same time, the push button (in particular the plate) can also be used for identification, e.g. B. "P" --7a-- for pole or "O" for zero contact. It can also be designed in color or provided with colored labels. This eliminates the need for labeling the base or the housing, which can therefore be kept neutral for all versions and simplify their manufacture.
The in Fig. 1 in the lower part of the base or housing-1 - arranged terminal is as

Actuation or for the attack of an actuator, z. B. Push button-7--, serve. These two tabs are also slightly angled by a kink for better grip for the actuating or operating element. As Fig. 1 shows, the push button --7-- can operate both tongues --5d and 5e - at once, so that both flaps --5f and 5h-- are released from the inserted wires - 8, 9-- at the same time .
EMI3.2
Roof-shaped formations --6c and 6d - recesses for engaging the tabs --5f and 5h - of the spring, one for clamping thinner wires and the other for locking with the clamping plate --6--.
To insert the conductors -8 and 9-both in the terminal-5, 6- and in the terminal-2, 3-, insertion holes - -le-- are made in the base or housing of a device (Fig. 4), which for better introduction at their exit-lf - are flared. As is easy to imagine, z. B. in a double terminal on the one hand a thinner and on the other side a stronger wire can be inserted and clamped. The clamping will always be strong enough.
By designing the push buttons as insulating pieces that can be actuated from the side, the housings or bases can be kept closed from above, namely from the front side, i.e. insulated by a cover, since the terminals can no longer be actuated from this side
EMI3.3
can intervene. Hiebei the cover can also be a support ring for inserting the device, for. B. in a flush-mounted box and is advantageously made of insulating material.
9 and 10 relate to a further embodiment and show an arrangement in which the clamp --5,6 - by a tool, e.g. B. a screwdriver --41--, is operated. In this case the recess - lk - in the base wall - l - of the device for inserting the blade --41-- of the screwdriver remains free. The recess - lk - is dimensioned such that its width - B - corresponds approximately to the width of the blade of a smaller screwdriver, in the present case approximately 4 to 5 mm. At the height-H- the recess --1k - is also adapted to the thickness of the blade --41--, approximately 1.5 to 2.5 mm of a smaller screwdriver.
In this way, the recess - lk - is kept so small that adequate protection against contact with the current-carrying terminal, in particular the clamping spring --5-- or its tabs --5g, 5- coming into contact with the open recess - given is. The base - l - is open at the top and has the chambers-la-- into which the clamping plate - 6 and the clamping spring - 5 - are inserted. Depending on the height at which the recess --lk - is arranged, it is dimensioned higher or less high up to the end face --1d-- of the base.
It is limited in its height - H - by the cover --10-- or a cam --10c-- molded onto the cover - 10--, which is inserted into the recess - lk - from above
EMI3.4
Actuator, in the present case the screwdriver --41--, has an effective contact surface in the entire width of the spring tabs-5g, 5i-.
In the exemplary embodiment in FIGS. 11 and 12, as in FIGS. 1 to 8, a push button --40-- is used as the actuating element, the recess --1k-- being the same size as in the exemplary embodiment in FIG. l and 2. The same is the spring - 5 - and the clamping plate
EMI3.5
with the spring legs or their spring tabs-5g and 5i--, while the other leg --40b-- of the push button is intended to be operated by hand. Here, too, a cover 10 is provided which, with its cams --10c--, enters the recess from above
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
--lk-- engages and thus secures the pushbutton --40-- in its position and isolates the contacts.
