Definitions

  • the invention relates to devices for processing cardboard tickets, such as tickets or the like.
  • processing of these titles begins with the creation of a valid title from a blank information medium, to continue with one or more operations to control the title, and end if necessary with the invalidation of the title, after use.
  • such a device must make it possible to print, code and issue a book of transport tickets (generally 10 in number) under conditions which are entirely suitable for the distribution of such a book.
  • the time must be of the order of twenty seconds or even ten seconds.
  • One of the aims of the present invention is to provide a processing device capable of dispensing a set of tickets under perfectly acceptable conditions and more quickly than conventional processing devices.
  • Another object of the invention is to alleviate any operational incident by ensuring distribution even in the event of failure of a part of the device.
  • Another object of the invention is to increase the operating autonomy compared to a conventional processing device.
  • a cardboard title processing device comprising a printing and / or coding module comprising means for driving a title along a path internal to the module to pass it through a station. printing and, if necessary, in a title coding station, as well as a title output between two rollers.
  • this device comprises: - a second module similar to the first and, - Coupling means provided between the respective outputs of the modules and an output receptacle, to take the titles indifferently from one or the other module and stack them in the receptacle.
  • the two modules are arranged parallel to each other, while the coupling means are placed opposite the outputs of the modules and perpendicular to all of these two modules.
  • the coupling means comprise a tensioned belt winding in a closed circuit on rollers and resting on a guide member on at least part of the path between the outputs of the two modules .
  • said guide member comprises a substantially convex plate on the side on which the belt rests with the exception of one of its ends located closest to the receptacle, which is concave so as to be able to accommodate a roller of the means of coupling on which the belt then passes.
  • the belt is driven by friction using a stepping motor.
  • the belt is arranged substantially perpendicular to the internal path of the ticket at the time of the last processing phase in each module.
  • the output of one or other of the modules comprises two ga lets substantially tangent to each other and aligned parallel to the axis of the coupling means, and around which two belts are curved, as well as a guide piece, located at the interconnection of the module and the means of coupling.
  • the transfer of the transport ticket from the module furthest from the receptacle inside the coupling means is ensured by two rollers arranged recessed with respect to one another, and spaced apart by a distance of less than the length of the ticket, a first roller forming with the guide piece a corner dihedral with an acute apex, allowing the ticket to be guided by the belt inside the coupling means, the second roller ensuring the delivery of the ticket to the guide member.
  • the title is transported by passing it under pressure between the belt and the rollers or the guide member, the spacing distance between two adjacent rollers, or between a roller and the guide member being less than the length of the title.
  • the output receptacle comprises a receiver mounted for rotation on a flange of the coupling means, actuated with the aid of an electromagnet and maintaining the titles to be extracted by their lower part.
  • the drive means for at least one of the modules comprise a toothed belt which rests on rollers on which it curves in a closed circuit, two adjacent rollers being spaced apart by a distance less than the length of the ticket, and which disappears towards a return roller at the coding station, leaving the delivery of the ticket to a secondary belt, itself stretched around a plurality of rollers, and cooperating by friction with the first belt.
  • the coding station comprises two magnetic heads, one for reading, the other for writing.
  • the means for introducing the cardboard titles into each module comprise two tape guide channels supplied respectively by two reels, and converge towards one another.
  • the printing means comprise a needle printer facing a roller which forms a printing counter plate, while downstream and upstream of the printing means are provided.
  • each module includes cutting means, comprising a knife and its counter blade, actuated by an electromagnet.
  • the reference B generally designates the frame of the device, while the references 1,2 and 3 designate the constituent parts thereof, that is to say, respectively the first processing module, the second processing module and the coupling means.
  • the two modules 1 and 2 are similar processing modules as they have been already described in the French patent application No. 84 10379, published under No. 2 566 704. Only their interfaces with the coupling means comprise different characteristics, which will be discussed in detail later. In the particular embodiment of the device according to the invention, the modules 1 and 2 are identical. Only module 1 will therefore be described.
  • Module 1 is capable of printing, coding, reading and cutting a ticket.
  • Two coils (not shown) of a strip of cardboard paper supply respectively two inlet deflectors 101 and 102.
  • Such a supply by coils makes it possible to place the paper magazines in any position relative to the rest of the device.
  • the ribbon is introduced by two guide channels which converge towards one another and are provided with separate drive means, consisting of stepping motors.
  • a roller 104 which cooperates by friction with the roller 103 mounted on the shaft of the first stepping motor (not shown). It is the same for the second channel where the roller 105 cooperates by friction with the roller 106 mounted on the shaft of the second stepping motor (not shown).
  • a set of suitable detectors determines whether the introduction into each of the input channels has been without problem. Only one channel brings band at the aforementioned point of convergence.
  • Either of the input channels therefore brings tape which will come to bear on another deflector (not shown) at the point of convergence.
  • a cutting piece consisting of a knife and its counter blade, controlled by an electromagnet, then makes it possible to cut the ribbon to a predetermined length.
  • the belt passes over a drive roller 150, which is a notched roller cooperating with the belt, It returns by the bottom first on a roller 140, then on a roller 130, pivotally mounted at 131 on an arm 132, biased by a spring (not shown).
  • a drive roller 150 which is a notched roller cooperating with the belt
  • It returns by the bottom first on a roller 140, then on a roller 130, pivotally mounted at 131 on an arm 132, biased by a spring (not shown).
  • the position of the anchor point of the arm 132 or the choice of the spring makes it possible, if necessary, to adjust the tension of the belt 10.
  • the belt 10 is then wound on the first roller or input roller 120, after which begins the internal path of the ticket in the device.
  • the belt 10 first meets a printing station 180.
  • This printing station comprises a needle printer, consisting of a block 184 equipped with a printing head 185 with 7 needles.
  • the assembly 184, 185 is movable from one end to the other along a generator of a roller 183, located opposite the head 185. Such a transverse movement is communicated to the head 185 by a stepping motor (not shown). It allows to give the desired configuration of the inscriptions on the title.
  • the roller 183 has a smooth outer surface, provided on one side with a notch which can also be smooth and has dimensions chosen to exactly accommodate the belt 10, so that the latter is flush with the generator of the roller 183.
  • the title is also printed along its length. Optionally, it can be subjected to several scans if different lines are to be printed.
  • the printing operation is then carried out column by column.
  • Such dot printing allows, in known manner, to constitute a plurality of horizontal printing lines on the title.
  • printing can also be done in the other direction (transverse movement) or in both directions.
  • the belt is offset by a roller 191. It then comes to wind on a roller 162 to slip away towards a return roller 170 and return by the roller 161 to the internal path, which ends at the roller final 150 already mentioned, as well as the roller 193 which is tangent to the roller 150, so as not to deflect the belt 10.
  • This erasing of the belt between the rollers 162 and 161 is provided to allow the accommodation of two magnetic heads 160, one for reading and the other for writing, which protrude from the internal path of the ticket.
  • a plate 163 consisting of a plate forms with the heads 160 a passage channel.
  • Magnetic inscriptions correspond to information written in clear, and most of the time to other additional information.
  • a second belt 11 is provided.
  • the belt 11 rotates in a closed circuit on rollers 191, 192 and 193. It is not driven and can be notched.
  • the roller 191 applies the belt 11 to the belt 10 with sufficient pressure so that the title remains in cooperation with the belt 10, it being observed that it can on the other hand slide with respect to the belt 11.
  • Above the heads magnetic 160 it is the belt 11 alone which maintains the pressure of the transport ticket with the magnetic track facing the heads 160.
  • the length of the plate 163 is chosen such that the ticket always remains in contact with the belt 10 , which brings continuity to its training without slipping. More precisely, at the start, the title is pushed by the belt 10, upstream of the roller 162.
  • the tensile force thus exerted by friction by the title on the passage of each roller is very regular, and little dependent on the thickness of the title. It is essentially defined by the spring of the arm 132.
  • This scrolling precision is very important for the correct inscription or the correct reading of the magnetic characters on said track.
  • Another very important element is the pressurization of the ticket against the magnetic heads 160, which is provided here by the belt 11.
  • roller 192 is mounted for rotation on an arm 193 which itself pivots on a flange not shown.
  • a spring can exert a chosen traction, possibly adjustable by adjusting its fixing point on the same flange. This makes it possible to adjust the tension of the belt, and thereby the pressure of the title on the magnetic heads 160.
  • the module 1 which has just been described constitutes a very advantageous solution to the problem consisting in making both human-readable inscriptions and magnetic inscriptions on a card stock with magnetic stripe or even the reading of a card stock, especially on a ticket.
  • the two belts 10 and 11 are located to the right of the magnetic track.
  • the drive of all the belts can be carried out simply from the roller 150, itself driven by a stepping motor, or by a direct current motor and with speed regulation by tachometer generator.
  • the second belt is driven by friction on the first, through the ticket if necessary.
  • the Applicant has been able to obtain a scrolling precision better than a micron, for a (maximum) scrolling speed of approximately 500 mm per second.
  • the belt had a pitch of 2,032 mm. It was made of neoprene.
  • the diameter of the roll 150 was 36 mm.
  • the title used had the dimensions of 20 cm ⁇ 8 cm. Its magnetic track was ISO standards.
  • the module 2 is in the embodiment shown in the figure, identical to the module 1. It is arranged parallel to this module 1, in the general direction of the internal path.
  • the assembly is installed on the frame B.
  • the latter can be vertical or horizontal.
  • the coupling means are connected to the outputs of the two modules 1 and 2. They allow the transport ticket processed by one or the other of the modules to be routed either to a common output receptacle.
  • a processing device thus comprising two modules connected by appropriate coupling means and described more fully below makes it possible to double the speed of distribution of tickets.
  • the time required to obtain ten titles (or even a "ticket book") is 13 seconds.
  • the coupling means are represented by the reference 3 in the figure. They comprise drive means substantially perpendicular to the internal paths made by the titles in the modules 1 and 2. The assembly of the coupling means is therefore placed perpendicular to the axes of the internal path of the two modules.
  • the belt 30 comprises a belt 30.
  • the belt 30 passes over a drive roller 300.
  • This roller is mounted on the shaft of a stepping motor not shown. It is then wound on a roller 310, to pass under another roller 320, placed slightly behind the roller 310, so that the angle of curvature of the belt 30 on the roller 310 is around 130 degrees, while the angle of curvature on the roller 320 is around 170 degrees.
  • These two rollers 310 and 320 are arranged opposite the outlet of the module 2.
  • the belt 30 then has a direction substantially perpendicular to the common general direction of the internal paths of the modules 1 or 2. It is then applied to a guide member 330, which is in the form of a slightly convex plate with the exception its end located near the output of module 1 which has a concavity.
  • This guide member allows the belt to be applied to it under pressure.
  • This plate is long enough to cover the space between the two module outputs. It is applied on its non-curved side directly on the smallest side of the module 1.
  • the two ends due to the change in the surface profile, have different aspects.
  • the end of the plate is fusiform, while the other end has an oblique external edge forming with the base of the plate an obtuse angle.
  • a roller 340 with the same radius as the radius of curvature of the concavity of the plate 330, is housed inside the latter so as to apply the belt against the plate 330.
  • the belt then passes over a roller 350 and is finally wound up by a roller 360 before returning to the aforementioned roller 300.
  • a part 370 is pivotally mounted on the same axis as the roller 350. It is actuated by an electromagnet 380. In the rest position, this part 370 constitutes the receiver in which the tickets are stored.
  • the part pivots and therefore releases, by its lower part, the coupons which fall into the output receptacle of the device's host machine and the processing of tickets.
  • the internal path of the ticket inside the module 1 or 2 ends at the level of the rollers 150 and 193 (respectively 250 and 293).
  • a suitable arrangement of the relative positions of the rollers 150 and 193 allows the title to come out tangentially to these rollers 150 and 193.
  • rollers 150 and 193 are tangent to each other and the alignment of their axes is parallel to the main axis of the coupling means.
  • the ticket therefore has a substantially inclined output relative to the axis of the module. Two scenarios are then to be considered, depending on whether it is module 1 or module 2.
  • a part 299, or else a corner forms with the belt 30 which passes between the rollers 310 and 320, an outlet channel which narrows like a dihedral with an acute apex angle.
  • the title is then pinched between the corner 299 and the belt 30, which in operating condition, rotates in a counterclockwise direction.
  • the title then passes between the belt 30 and the roller 320 which is directly adjacent to the corner 299 and to the roller 310. It should be noted that the spacings between the output rollers 293, 250, the corner 299 and the rollers 310 and 320 are such that at any time the title is guided by one or the other or more of these parts.
  • the title is then guided along the convex profile of the plate 330 between the latter and the belt 30, simply driven by friction using a drive roller 300.
  • the title then passes under the roller 340 in the concave part of the end of the part 330. It is then guided by the roller 350, then the roller 360 before stopping its race on the receiver 370. It is held there by its lower part, the electromagnet 380 exercising a form of recall necessary for the maintenance of the title in the receiver.
  • the external edge of the plate 330 forms with a part 129, identical to the part 299, a dihedral of angle with an acute apex.
  • the wedge 199 is arranged at the interconnection of the coupling means and of module 1.
  • the ticket at the output of module 1 is therefore guided in the outlet channel and snapped up by the belt 30 which clamps it by application on the roller 350. It is then guided on the roller 360 before ending its race on the receiver 370 as previously described.
  • An external control unit synchronizes the operations so that two tickets are not simultaneously at the point of convergence of the two paths, defined between the roller 340 and the roller 350. However, even in this case, the two tickets are not thick enough for their stacking to cause the belt 30 to malfunction.
  • the device which has just been described has still other advantages than those previously mentioned: -
  • the device also allows the processing of titles already produced. If the coding station and the printing station are inverted along the internal path, the title can first be read by the magnetic reading head and then printed according to the instructions extracted from the reading of the magnetic strip.
  • the device can still be used by separate module.
  • the issue of subscription titles requires only a printing and coding operation. In such a case, only one module takes care of this operation. It is for example the module supplied by a coil of color and nature suitable for the issue of this subscription title.
  • the device has a large operating autonomy.
  • An electronic control unit ensures that the stepping motors are controlled, taking into account the state of detectors, also not shown, generally optoelectronic, placed at the places where an alternative can arise or, where a signal is necessary.
  • This control unit is also linked to the control logic of the printing station and the coding station.
  • This electronic control unit not only ensures the smooth running of operations but also counts securities while synchronizing distribution. When the required number of tickets is obtained, the system stops.
