Levered pliers, in particular bolt cutters, with one pair each of double-armed cutting-jaw (1, 2) and hand levers (8, 9) which in each case are articulated on one another and not cross in the area of the articulated points (5, 12), and with connecting articulations (10, 11) between the ends of the cutting-jaw and hand levers facing one another, characterized in that, in an area near the cutting-jaw levers (1, 2), the hand levers (8, 9) are in each case bent twice at least in such a way that, in this area (14a, 14b), the hand levers cross one another twice (18, 19) in the closed condition of the pliers.

Description

The invention relates to a lever-translated pliers, in particular bolt cutters, each with a pair of two-armed die jaws and hand levers, which are each articulated to one another and do not cross in the region of the articulation points, and with connecting joints between the mutually facing ends of the die jaws and hand levers.

The known bolt cutters, as are known, for example, from DE-OS 32 21 072, have articulated hand levers on the cutting jaws, which are moved so far apart with the pliers around the articulation point of the hand levers that they have an angle of 90 degrees between them or more and are thereby inserted with the cutting jaws only so far into openings, in particular spaces, of an upper reinforcement layer until the front outer sides of the hand levers rest on the opening edge. In most cases, this means that an underlying mat or reinforcement cannot be reached by the cutting edges will. If a lower-lying reinforcement or reinforcement mat still has to be cut, the opening in the upper reinforcement between two reinforcement bars is often enlarged by additional cuts, so that the upper reinforcement is weakened. In addition, this is an additional workload.

The object of the invention is to improve pliers of the type mentioned in such a way that parts to be cut can be reached through narrow openings which are lower than the length of the two-armed cutting jaws relative to the opening.

This object is achieved in that in a region close to the cutting jaw levers the hand levers are bent at least twice in such a way that in this region the hand levers cross each other twice in the closed state of the pliers.

As a result of this design of the front area of the hand lever, this area can also be introduced into the opening as an extension of the cutting jaws, so that even very deep reinforcements or wires to be cut can be reached. The pliers are easy to handle and simple to manufacture. There is no additional work involved, and there is no need to enlarge the upper opening and thus weaken an upper or front reinforcement.

It is particularly advantageous here if the first areas of the hand levers, which are closest to the die jaw levers and which form the point of intersection closest to the die jaw levers when the pliers are closed, are approximately parallel to one another when the pliers are wide open. It is also advantageously proposed that the first areas of the hand levers approximately open when the pliers are wide open parallel state from the outside to the outside form a width which is approximately equal to the width of the cutting jaw lever from the outside to the outside. A second area of the hand lever should also connect to the first area of the hand lever, which forms the second crossing point when the pliers are closed. In this case, a first and second region of the hand lever can be bent toward one another and together form an inner angle facing the other hand lever, which is 60 to 120 degrees, in particular 80 to 100 degrees.

Furthermore, it is advantageously proposed that when the pliers are closed, the regions which cross each other twice partially overlap one another laterally. Alternatively, the double-crossing area of the first hand lever can also lie in a longitudinal slot of the second hand lever when the pliers are closed, so that the hand levers interlock in a manner similar to that which is already known for water pump pliers with an inserted sliding joint.

It is preferably proposed that when the pliers are closed, the stops strike the second region at the level of the second crossing point. This creates particularly easy to design and safe working stops.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing in a not completely drawn handles in a front view and is described in more detail below.

The bolt cutter essentially consists of two pairs of levers, which are articulated to each other and to each other without crossing. The two-armed cutting jaw levers 1, 2 have at their free ends between the front jaws cut 3, 4, which lie on each other in the bite cut. The cutting jaw levers 1, 2 are articulated directly by a single central joint 5, the cutting edges being on the side, or the cutting jaw levers are articulated on both flat sides on one tab each by two screw journals, as is shown in German Offenlegungsschrift P 32 21 072, so that the cutting edges are in the axial direction of the pliers.

On the sides facing away from the cutting edges 3, 4, the cutting jaw levers 1, 2 are articulated on two-armed hand levers 8, 9 via connecting joints 10, 11 with pivot pins, in particular screw pins. Near the connecting joints 10, 11, the two hand levers 8, 9 are connected by a pivot pin, in particular a screw pin with e.g. Eccentric stroke, hinged together. In an embodiment (not shown), an adjusting screw, which is mounted in the first hand lever and represents the connection between the first hand lever and the connecting joint or the second hand lever, can act on this connecting joint 12 of the two hand levers. The set screw is mounted in a bore of the first hand lever so as to be longitudinally displaceable and is held in both directions of displacement by adjusting nuts.

The hand levers 8, 9 consist of forged pieces in the area of the joints 10, 11 and 12, onto which tubes 16, 17 are pushed to extend and form the grip areas. These forged intermediate pieces of both hand levers thus form the regions 14a, 14b which are closest to the cutting jaws and are connected with their front ends to the cutting jaws 1, 2 via the joints 10, 11. Here, these areas 14a, 14b are designed such that, when the pliers are closed, these areas cross each other twice in points 18 and 19 without being fastened or articulated there.

Starting from the joint connectors 10, 11 are these portions 14a, 14b short inwardly to an angle of approximately α = 45 0 inwardly bent behind the connecting link 12 in each case (first bend 20) in order to then form a first straight portion 21, respectively, the intersect approximately in the middle and thus form the first crossing point 18. This first area 21 of both hand levers ends at a second bend which is turned towards one side (second bend 22) and is made at an angle β of approximately 90 °. This angle can be in a range from 60 to 120 °, in particular 80 to 100 °.

Behind this second turn 22 there is a second straight region 23 of the hand levers, which in turn cross each other at point 19. At the end of these two second regions 23 of the hand levers, the tubes 16, 17 are plugged on at an angle of α - approximately 35 °.

The areas 14a, 14b of the hand levers 8, 9 near the cutting jaws thus form two angularly bent areas between the attached pipes 16, 17 and the connecting joints 10, 11 or the connecting joint 12, the kinking taking place inwards in opposite directions, so that these areas intersect twice and the turning points 22 are outside when the pliers are closed. In the closed position, these areas enclose an approximately rectangular, in particular approximately square, opening 24 at the level of the bends 22. On the other hand, if the pliers are wide open, the areas 21 are essentially parallel to one another, the width B of the outer sides of the areas 21 being approximately the width C of the outer sides of the cutting jaw levers 1, 2.

The pliers can thus be inserted into the opening by the length of the first two regions 21 deeper than a conventional pliers.

The forged intermediate pieces of the two hand levers have stops 25, 26 in the areas 23 below the crossing point 19, each of which strikes the opposite hand lever at the level of the crossing point 19 when the pliers are closed.
