Abstract

Claims (10)

  1. A machine for treating poultry feathers or the like comprising a drum (1) which is rotatably mounted by way of its end walls on respective tubes (3, 3') serving as hollow spindles, and means for loading and unloading the poultry feathers and for the supply of cooling air by way of the tubes (3, 3'), which cooling air flows out of the drum (1) by way of a filter means, characterised in that the drum (1) is enclosed by an air-tight housing (6) which is connected to the suction side of a fan (12) and which has a closable air inlet opening, that the peripheral casing portion of the drum is in the form of a filter (23), and that connected to one of the tubes (3) by way of a switching member (19) is a heating register (17) for the production of warm air.
  2. A machine according to claim 1 characterised in that the end walls of the drum (1) are also in the form of filters (24).
  3. A machine according to claim 1 or claim 2 characterised in that mounted in the drum (1) are radially extending entrainment surfaces (25) which extend from the drum periphery to approximately half the drum radius.
  4. A machine according to one of claims 1 to 3 characterised in that the switching member is a rotary slide member (19) which is incorporated into the tube (3) and which permits selective communication of the tube (3) with the heating register (17) or a cooling air tube (22).
  5. A machine according to one of claims 1 to 4 characterised in that fitted into the other tube (3') is a rotary slide member (29) which permits selective communication of the tube (3') with a loading tube (20) or an unloading tube (21).
  6. A machine according to one of claims 1 to 5 characterised in that the closable air inlet opening of the housing (6) comprises the bottom (9) thereof, which is designed to be lowerable.
  7. A machine according to claim 6 characterised in that the housing (6) is mounted pivotably relative to its bottom (9).
  8. A machine according to one of claims 1 to 7 characterised in that conduits are passed through the tubes (3, 3'), which conduits terminate in the interior of the drum in nozzles (27, 28) and serve for the introduction of disinfecting agents or the like.
  9. A machine according to one of claims 1 to 8 characterised in that the air can be supplied to the heating register (17) which is provided on the fresh air side with a displaceable flap (18), from the pressure side of the fan (12) by way of a branch connection (14), a filter device (15) and an air circulation pipe (16).
  10. A machine according to one of claims 1 to 9 characterised in that at its two ends the drum is non-rotatably connected to belt pulleys (5) which are drivable by way of drive belts and a common drive shaft (7).
