Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for supporting the frame or body of a vehicle, in particular a road motor vehicle, on a vehicle wheel according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • a generic device is known from US 2153 271, in which the spring bearing associated with the frame is fastened to a carrier running in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, which is angled downwards in front of and behind the spring bearing, so that a saddle-like center piece connected to the spring bearing in is a horizontal plane which is offset vertically downwards from that plane in which the carrier is attached with its ends to the frame.
  • the invention has for its object to design a generic device so that it is structurally simple to represent, that no complex components have to be used, and that a good load distribution and force transmission takes place in the frame or body of the vehicle.
  • the support of the frame or vehicle body on the respective vehicle wheel can be assigned to the frame area relatively freely.
  • Simple sheets or simple appropriately dimensioned and deformed strip material are used, and there is a device in which the spring end assigned to the frame or vehicle body and the frame itself can be assigned very precisely to one another and there are practically no signs of wear.
  • the device has a considerable inherent rigidity, without this having to be bought with an unacceptable expenditure of weight or mass.
  • One of the two side members and one of several cross members is shown of the frame of a heavy road motor vehicle, for example a truck.
  • the cross members connect the two side members to each other.
  • the long beams are in the area of the long sides of the frame.
  • the long beam shown is 1, the cross member shown is 2.
  • the two supports are rigidly connected to one another, for example welded or riveted to one another.
  • a gusset plate 3 is provided which has a horizontal plate 3a and a vertical flange 3b. With the horizontal plate 3a, the gusset plate 3 is connected to the side member 1 and the cross member 2, in particular welded.
  • the vertical flange 3b is directed downward from the plate 3a.
  • a beam 4 Arranged laterally from the longitudinal beam 1, on the outside of the frame, is a beam 4 according to the invention, which in the simplest manner has a cross-sectional shape of a flat, lying rectangle over the entire length.
  • Correspondingly cut strip material has a horizontal, saddle-shaped middle piece 4a, at the two ends of which the carrier 4 is bent downwards.
  • the saddle-shaped center piece 4a lies approximately in the horizontal plane of the upper side of the frame side member 1.
  • the end parts 4b, 4c which are bent downward consequently end in a horizontal plane which lies vertically below the plane in which the center piece 4a and the top side member lie.
  • the upper spring bearing 6 of a vertically arranged coil spring 7 is fastened, which can also be a correspondingly acting other spring, in particular a gas spring or a rubber spring.
  • the spring bearing 6 is a spring plate, in the case of another spring, the spring bearing 6 must be designed differently for the purpose.
  • the two ends of the carrier 4 are fastened in the region of a frame cross member 2 to the frame with the longitudinal members 1 and the cross members 2.
  • the lower end of the clock spring 7 is supported by a wheel carrier, preferably an axle body 8 having at least one wheel at both ends.
  • the supporting forces of the frame or structure are introduced at the outer ends of the carrier 4 as tensile forces in its downward tensile end parts 4b, 4c and in the middle, saddle-shaped part 4a as a vertical, resulting force by means of the spring 7 into the axle body 8.
  • tensile forces in its downward tensile end parts 4b, 4c and in the middle, saddle-shaped part 4a as a vertical, resulting force by means of the spring 7 into the axle body 8.
  • a rectangular cross section of the carrier with a relatively small dimension is sufficient.
  • the carrier is then as soft in other directions as it may be undesirable in view of an exact assignment of the upper spring bearing 6 to the frame.
  • the carrier 4 is rotated in a further embodiment in the region of the end parts 4b, 4c about its longitudinal axis, so that the cross Cut of the strip material in the area of the middle part 4a is a lying rectangle, in the area of the outer ends of the end parts 4b, 4c is a standing rectangle and the support in the area of the end parts is flexible in the transverse direction of the vehicle.
  • the carrier is a straight component in the longitudinal direction, in the case of the gusset plates 3 and their formation with a horizontal plate 3a and vertical flange 3b, the connection of the carrier ends is particularly easy to accomplish by the vertically standing ends of the strip material are welded to the vertical flange 3b of the respective gusset plate 3.
  • this spring bearing 6 is supported directly on the longitudinal frame member 1 by a further flange 5.
  • the flange 5 made rigid by means of vertical webs is arranged with its outer end between spring bearing 6 and support 4 and connected to both, while its inner end is fastened to the top of the frame side members.
  • the angle a which the two end parts 4b, 4c enclose with their imaginary extensions, results from practical needs and is determined by the designer with his routine ability in the given case.
  • the optimal solution is a design of the device in such a way that the two support parts on both sides of the saddle-shaped middle piece are only subjected to tension and are therefore dimensioned so that they can absorb the expected tensile forces.
