Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for applying fluid media by means of bristles, such as brushes, brushes or the like, consisting of a bristle holder with a cavity for receiving the medium and at least one opening for dispensing the same and at least one bundle of bristles that the opening on the bristle holder is attached surrounding and forms a retention chamber for the medium in continuation of the opening.
  • bristles such as brushes, brushes or the like
  • the bristle carrier is designed as a thin disk and the bristles are attached to it by welding in such a way that they surround openings on the disk and channels in the form of retention chambers for the medium are formed between the bristles. These retention chambers are closed in that the bristles tilt towards one another towards their free end and form a type of closure.
  • the disc-shaped bristle carrier is part of a closure for the hollow device housing, so that its channel-like openings communicate with the cavity of the device housing and so the medium can penetrate from the device housing through the openings into the retention chambers between the bristle bundles.
  • the bristles open, see above that the medium can leak. This may are still supported in that the device housing has a flexible wall, so that the medium can be pressed out by pressure on the device housing.
  • applicators consist of a storage container containing the medium and a brush or the like immersed therein. exist, the application being carried out by removing the brush from the container and applying the medium adhering to the bristle trim.
  • This adhering amount is naturally very small, so that the brush has to be immersed several times during an application process.
  • the application quantity also decreases steadily during the application process until the bristles finally no longer release any medium, so that irregularities can occur.
  • the application amount can only be dosed poorly, which is particularly the case with cosmetics such as nail polish or the like. for drugs such as tinctures or the like. is disadvantageous. It is also known in these devices (US Pat. No.
  • the invention has for its object to design an applicator so that a larger amount can be applied in fine doses over a longer period.
  • the cavity has a displacer body and can be filled through the bristles by actuating the displacer body.
  • the device designed according to the invention combines two functions.
  • a certain amount of the medium to be applied can be taken up into the cavity from a storage container or the like and then applied by means of the bristles.
  • the medium flows in automatically on the bristles, depending on the amount removed, and for as long as the supply is sufficient in the cavity. If this amount of medium is not completely used up during the application process, it can either remain in the device or can be emptied through the bristles into the storage container by means of the same displacement body.
  • This return conveying has the advantage that between two application processes no medium remains in the cavity that could dry out there if it is not used for a long time, and that the bristles are also cleaned so that the medium cannot harden there or lead to incrustations.
  • the application device such as is used for cosmetics such as nail polish, drug tinctures, correction liquids for typewriters, etc.
  • the measure according to the invention has the advantage that not only can the cavity be emptied when not in use, but the suction and pressure movements on the bristles also cause a filtering process due to which firmer particles, agglomerations etc. are retained.
  • These movement and flow processes also whirl up the medium inside the container, so that the shaking required for many media can be dispensed with or reduced if necessary. additional shaking aids can also be omitted.
  • the application process can be made more economical, since it is no longer necessary to immerse the device in the container and remove it several times during the application process, but on the other hand, a separate dosing by means of pressure is not necessary.
  • the cavity preferably has ventilation which is effective towards the end of the filling process.
  • the bristle carrier is designed as a hollow shaft and provided with the displacer body.
  • a rod-shaped piston can be guided in the hollow shaft as a displacement body, which plunges into the shaft from the side opposite the bristles. The medium can thus be sucked through the bristles into the shaft in the manner of a piston lifter and pressed out when the piston is actuated in the opposite direction.
  • an elastic bellows or the like on the shaft at the end opposite the bristles. is arranged as a displacement body.
  • the device with its bristles is immersed in the container when not in use.
  • the container itself is provided with a closure, which if necessary. is arranged on the device itself.
  • the displacer is connected to the closure of the container.
  • This connection is preferably designed in such a way that, in conjunction with the opening movement of the closure, the movement of the displacement body and thus the suction of the medium also take place, which overall enables ergonomic and economical handling.
  • the displacement body can be guided on it with a part that overlaps the container closure.
  • the displacement body as a rod-shaped piston, it is provided at its end lying outside the shaft with a cap, by means of which it is guided axially on the outside of the container closure.
  • the construction can be such that the cap is guided in grooves on the outside of the container closure with inwardly projecting lugs.
  • the cap, or the like in the closed position a latching. has, is raised for the use of the applicator by releasing the latching, the rod-shaped piston retracts into the cavity and sucks the medium through the bristles until finally the cap and thus the piston have reached a certain end position. Then the actual container closure is opened so that the device can be removed. After use, the closure is put back on the container and at the same time the cap is then pushed over the closure again, so that the rod-shaped piston moves back into its starting position when the cavity is emptied when not in use.
  • the displacement body is designed as a bellows, in a preferred embodiment it is arranged inside the container closure, the stroke of the bellows corresponding approximately to the distance covered by the container closure when opening or closing. In this way, the medium can be sucked in directly during the opening process, during which the bellows expands accordingly. Conversely, the Closing the bellow presses the bellows and pushes the medium out of the shaft.
  • the bellows can additionally have a chamber with an elastic wall which extends through the closure to the outside, for example to enable the filling or emptying process to be carried out independently of the actuation of the closure.
  • the suction or pressure stroke can be brought about by appropriate shaping (oval, conical) of the bellows and container neck and by corresponding relative movement (twisting, axial displacement).
  • FIG. 1 to 4 show an application device 1 in connection with a storage container 2, as can be used, for example, for applying liquid to pasty media.
  • the storage container 2 is in the usual way with a closure 3, e.g. provided with a screw cap which cooperates with an internal thread on the neck 4 of the storage container 2.
  • the application device 1 has a bristle carrier 5 which, in the exemplary embodiments according to FIGS. 1 to 4, is designed as a shaft 6 and has a cavity 7. At one end of the shaft 6, bundles of bristles are attached which, depending on the application, are arranged in a round, rectangular or any other geometry and, if necessary, at their ends. are contoured.
  • the bristles 8 can be attached to the bristle carrier 5 in any conventional manner.
  • FIGS. 5 and 7 two different versions are shown in FIGS. 5 and 7.
  • a bundle of plastic bristles 8 is melted at one end and welded together to form an annular carrier 9.
  • the bristles 8 are fastened to the shaft 6, for example by gluing, welding, snapping or the like.
  • the bristles made of plastic as shown in FIG. 7, can also be applied directly to the in this case Plastic consist of the shaft 6 to be welded on.
  • the bristles 8 of the bundle are arranged in such a way that they form a retention chamber 10 which is closed to the outside by a corresponding inclination of the bristles.
  • This retention chamber 10 communicates directly with the cavity 7 in the shaft 6 through an opening 6 '.
  • the shaft 6 with the bristles 8 forms in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 together with the closure 3 of the container 2 a single component in which the shaft 6 or the like in its upper region via a disk 11, webs or the like. is connected to the cover 3.
  • the applicator also has a displacement body 12 which, in the exemplary embodiment shown, is designed as a rod-shaped piston 13. This is guided axially within the shaft 6 and fills the cavity 7 of the shaft 6 in the non-use position (FIG. 1).
  • the piston 13 is provided at its end opposite the bristles 8 with a cap 14 which engages over the closure lid 3 of the storage container 2.
  • the cap 14 has at least two inwardly projecting lugs 15 on its lower end face, by means of which it is guided on axially parallel guide grooves 16 on the closure cover 3.
  • the guide grooves 16 are closed at their upper end.
  • an impact closure or the like can also be provided, so that when the cap 14 is raised to its end position according to FIG. 2 by further pulling the closure lid 3 can be released from the container neck 4.
  • the cavity 7 is filled and the closure cover 3 is opened by a single pulling movement.
  • the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4 differs from the previously described exemplary embodiment in that the shaft 6 having the cavity 7 is essentially constantly filled.
  • an elastic bellows 17 is arranged on the shaft 6 in the upper area thereof as a displacement body, the interior of which coincides with the cavity 7 of the shaft 6 in Connection is established.
  • the bellows 17 is arranged inside the closure lid 3 of the storage container 2 and can be compressed by screwing on or pressing on the closure lid 3, as is shown in FIG. 3 for the non-use position. By opening the closing cover 3, the bellows 17 can expand until it reaches the position according to FIG. 4. During this movement, it sucks the medium out of the storage container 2.
  • the bellows is supported on the one hand between a stopper 18 in the container neck and the upper wall of the closure cover 3.
  • the shaft 6 of the applicator 1 passes axially through the plug 18.
