Abstract

These sheathing plates 114, 115 and 116 envelop the gravure cylinder 16s and 16d almost completely and thus form an effective encapsulation which prevents the solvent from escaping from the printing ink in an undesired manner.

Claims (15)

1. Supplementary printing unit, having a back pressure cylinder which is partially wrapped by a web of material to be printed, is mounted swivellably and can selectively be brought into operative connection with one of two assigned impression cylinders, characterised in that the ends (6a) of the back pressure cylinder (6) are mounted in the lower end of swivel arms (7), whose upper ends are connected to a horizontally arranged swivel axle (8), and the swivel axle (8) of each swivel arm (7) is connected to a carriage-type device (10), and each carriage-type device (10) is mounted so as to be displaceable up and down relative to the side parts (11) of the machine frame (1), and the back pressure cylinder (6) is arranged between two exchangeable impression cylinders (16s, 16d) which are located below said back pressure cylinder, are arranged horizontally and receive the printing plates.

Printing device according to Patent Claim 1, characterised in that the cheeks of the machine (1) have lateral openings (14) which are accessible from the outside and form bearing seats which receive the end journals (15) and the bearings of the impression cylinders (16s, 16d), and in that a tensioning device (17) is assigned to each bearing seat (14) for fixing the journal (15).

Printing device according to Patent Claim 1, characterised in that a carriage (20, 21) is arranged below each impression cylinder (16s, 16d), which carriage can be moved up and down, and each carriage (20, 21) receives a support (25, 26) which is swivellable about a horizontally arranged axle (23, 24) and bears forme inking cylinders (27, 29; 28, 30).
4. Printing device according to Patent Claim 1, characterised in that each carriage (20, 21) which receives the forme inking cylinders (27, 29; 28, 30) is operatively connected to a drive spindle (22) which is motor-driven.
5. Printing device according to Patent Claim 1, characterised in that a hydraulic clamping device (12) is assigned to the guides (11) of the carriage-type device (10).

Printing device according to Patent Claim 1, characterised in that the cylinders (16s, 16d) for receiving the printing plates are operatively connected to controllable drive motors (85) which can be uncoupled from the corresponding drive motor (86) via a controllable, interposed coupling (83, 84), and in that the impression cylinders (16d, 16s) can be connected to the main drive device (82) of the rotary printing machine by actuating a coupling (79, 80).

Printing device according to Patent Claims 1 and 3, characterised in that hydraulic cylinders (51, 52, 64, 65) are assigned to the swivel arms (7) and supports (25, 26) for carrying out the swivel movements of the cylinders (6, 29, 27, 30, 28), said hydraulic cylinders interacting with adjusting screws (53, 54, 66a, 66b) which serve as stop means.

Device according to Patent Claim 1, characterised in that the carriages (10) for receiving swivellable arms (7) and bearing the back pressure cylinder (6) are displaceable to a slight extent by means of a cylinder (P), and the carriages (10) have on their underside a pin (67) which is in operative connection with a window-type opening (55) which is machined into a threaded spindle (56), and the threaded spindle (56) is operatively connected to a drive device, consisting of a toothed ring (59) and threaded worm (60), and the drive device can be actuated via a controllable motor.
9. Printing device according to Patent Claim 1, characterised in that the back pressure cylinder (6) is driven via an independent motor (74), advantageously via a controllable motor.
10. Printing device according to Patent Claim 1, characterised in that an independent, controllable motor (93 or 96) is assigned to each forme inking cylinder (29, 27, 30, 28).
11. Printing device according to Patent Claim 1, characterised in that the impression cylinders (16s, 16d) are constructed as gravure cylinders to which a forme inking device (104, 106, 105, 107) and a doctor blade device (100, 101) are assigned.
12. Printing device according to Patent Claim 11, characterised in that the doctor blade (102, 103) comes to rest in the upper circumferential region of the impression cylinders (16s, 16d), and the scraped-off printing ink is conveyed back into an ink collecting trough (110, 111) via a guide plate (108, 109).
13. Printing device according to Patent Claim 11, characterised in that the doctor blade device (100, 102, 101, 103) comes to rest in the lower circumferential region of the impression cylinders (16s, 16d) and, together with the forme inking device (106, 107), forms a compact constructional unit.
14. Printing device according to Patent Claim 11, characterised in that each impression cylinder (16s, 16d) and the forme inking device (106, 107) and the doctor blade device (100, 101) are largely encapsulated by a sheet metal housing (114, 115, 116).
15. Printing device according to Patent Claim 14, characterised in that the doctor blade device (100, 101) and the forme inking device (106, 107) are received by a fixedly arranged trough (112, 113), and that covering plates (114, 115, 116) are connected to the upper ends of the trough (112, 113) via plug connections (120, 121, 122).
