Abstract

The invention illustrates a door seal comprising a permanently magnetic sealing member along the underneath edge of the door which at the end of the closing action moves at right angles to the direction of closing into the sealing position, and which co-operates with a magnetically active counterpart, whereby the movable sealing member and the counterpart run parallel in the closed position of the door, and the sealing member and/or the counterpart are guided so that they are movable.

Description

The invention relates to a door seal, preferably for threshold-free doors for sealing the gap between the floor and the lower edge of the door in the closed position of the door, a sealing member being movable in a groove with a rectangular cross section on the floor, and the sealing member being in the sealing member by permanent magnetic elements which interact with magnetically effective counterparts on the lower edge of the door, move to the raised sealing position.

A door seal of the type described above has become known from DE-A 2 319 399. In this known door seal, a plurality of magnets are embedded in the lower edge of the door. These magnets work together with a sealing strip made of ferromagnetic material. For the sealing strip, guide holes are provided in the bottom, in which pins are guided, which are connected to the sealing strip.

This construction has the disadvantage that the magnets have to be inserted and fitted individually into the lower edge of the door. This and the arrangement of the guide holes and guide pins for the sealing strip result in a considerable manufacturing outlay. In addition, a high degree of accuracy must be applied in order to rule out that the movable sealing strip jams.

No. 3,123,870 describes a door seal in which a sealing member is arranged in a threshold placed on the floor and is raised by mechanical means when the door is closed. For this purpose, a lever arrangement is provided which can be actuated by the door and which raises the sealing member, which is guided in a groove. Arrangements of this type have the disadvantage that they require considerable assembly effort. The moving parts must be precisely adjusted to ensure that the sealing strip is raised. The sealing strip must be rigid in order to be raised over its entire length. Soiling can easily lead to contamination.

From FR-A 567 501 it is known to provide sealing strips under spring pressure in order to adapt the interacting surfaces to one another, for example to form convex and concave. Sealing strips of this type provide a good seal. Since they are under spring pressure, they are subject to considerable wear during the closing process. There is noise during the closing process and the sealing elements wear out quickly. The rigid sealing elements are also sensitive to contamination.

The invention has for its object to develop a door seal of the type specified in such a way that it can be assembled with little effort and results in a reliable function even with prolonged use.

To achieve this object, a permanent magnetic sealing member made of deformable, resilient material is provided, which extends in one piece over the full width of the door, the sealing member being guided and held in a groove in a rail even in the raised position, and in that the magnetically effective counterpart, which extends along the full width of the door along the lower edge of the door, sealingly interacts with the sealing member.

The invention achieves a surprisingly safe sealing effect. A jamming or other inhibition is excluded because not only are guide pins missing, but also because the sealing member is deformable. In the installed state, the sealing member is flexible in the vertical direction, but stiff in the horizontal transverse direction. It also proves to be advantageous for the seal to take place between the two interacting elements of the device, that is to say between the sealing member on the one hand and the counterpart on the other. It is neither necessary to use the bottom edge of the door as a sealing surface, nor to provide special additional elements.

It is sufficient if the gap between the lower edge of the door and the floor or the elements on the floor corresponds approximately to the specified dimensions. Comparatively large tolerances are possible. It is also advantageous here that the height dimensions of the magnetic counterpart can be small. The counterpart is therefore at a comparatively large distance from the floor, so that the risk of collision is low when the floor is uneven on the opening side of the door.

Die Unteransprüche betreffen vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung. The subclaims relate to advantageous refinements of the invention.

In the drawing, some embodiments of the invention are shown schematically. Show it:
  • 1 shows a section through a door seal,
  • 2 shows a sectional illustration of a variant,

In the preferred embodiment of the invention, a movable permanent magnetic sealing member 1 is seated in a U-shaped guide 12. The U-shaped guide 12 in turn is seated in the U-rail 7, which is embedded in the base 8. At their ends, the U-shaped guide 12 and the sealing member 1 end with the reveal of the door 4, not shown in detail. The U-shaped guide 12 is preferably made of aluminum and must be designed so that the movable sealing member 1 is held by it even in the raised state. The movable sealing member 1 consists of a deformable material and contains a strip-shaped permanent magnet in the upper region. A strip-like, resilient material is particularly suitable as a permanent magnet. In the lowered state, the upper active surface 11 is flush with the surface 18 of the bottom 8. The active surface 11 of the movable sealing member 1 is slightly convex and can be colored ge be designed so that it does not stand out from the rest of the floor surface.

In Fig. 1, the lower door edge 2 is shown, which carries the counterpart 3. The counterpart 3 either consists of a permanent magnet or of another magnetically active material. As shown in Fig. 1, the counterpart 3 can be easily attached to the lower door edge 2, for example by screwing. This also facilitates retrofitting. The active surface 10 of the counterpart 3, that is to say its underside, has a concave curvature which is adapted to the convex curvature of the sealing member 1.

If the counterpart 3 also consists of a permanent magnet, this is preferably arranged such that the north pole 5 of the counterpart 3 is opposite the south pole 6 of the movable sealing member 1 and likewise the south pole 14 of the counterpart 3 is opposite the north pole 15 of the movable sealing member 1. In this way a magnetic closure is effected along the lower edge of the door, which is indicated by dash-dotted lines in Fig. 3. This arrangement has the advantage that the magnetic circuit is only closed when the door is almost completely closed, as indicated by position 16 in FIG. 4. In position 17 of FIG. 4, the magnets are not yet effective, which makes opening and closing the door easier. The lower hinge is designated 19.

Fig. 2 shows an embodiment of a door seal according to the invention, which is particularly suitable for retrofitting. The movable sealing member 1 is seated in a threshold 9, which can be kept so flat that it does not pose a trip hazard. The guide for the sealing member 1 is formed here directly by the threshold 9.

A further variant is shown in FIG. 5. The movable sealing member 1 sits on a web 13. The web 13 has the same task as the U-shaped guide 12, namely the guidance of the sealing member.

Of course, other variants are also possible, for example the movable sealing member can be installed on the lower edge of the door and the like with the aid of a spring. be sunk in this. It is also possible to connect the movable sealing member in the lower edge of the door to a bellows or another elastic element which takes over the task of retracting in the open position and at the same time also serves as a guide element.

Mit strichpunktierten Linien ist jeweils die Dichtstellung angedeutet.1, 2 and 5 each show the door seal in a non-functional position, which is given when the door is open. The sealing position is indicated with dash-dotted lines.
