Definitions

  • the innovation relates to a chisel holder for a cutting tool, which holds the chisel, in particular in a hard metal chuck, the chisel being secured against axial emergence from the chisel holder by a resiliently locking holding element engaging an annular groove of the chisel and secured against rotation by a Flattening or other recess on the circumference of a rear chisel section and a border of this chisel section adapted to the relevant circumference.
  • a chisel holder is known in which the chisel is only secured against axial emergence from the chisel holder by an elastic cap attached to its rear end.
  • the cap is divided into radial projections, which are axially inclined in such a way that they bend radially back when the bit is inserted into the bit holder and spread behind it.
  • the chisel likewise rotatable, is held axially by an elastic ring which clamps in the chisel holder.
  • the chisel holder mentioned at the outset is known from DE-U-78 30 854.
  • the holding element mentioned there consists of two resilient rods which tangentially engage in the annular groove, and the surround of the rear bit section consists of an attachment welded to the rear side of the bit holder.
  • the innovation is based on the task of creating a chisel holder with a more permanent rotation lock, for the same chisel.
  • a chisel holder of the type described at the outset in which the said holding element is a radially resilient ring which engages in the annular groove and which has a seat which is adapted to it in the chisel holder and is held in this by the said border of the rear chisel section forming hard metal ring, which in turn is held axially and is secured against rotation by a flattened or other recess on its circumference and a circumference adapted to the relevant circumference, welded to the rest of the bit holder.
  • This proposal represents a new overall concept of the axial and rotation lock, especially from the point of view of the space available.
  • the holding element was converted from the two axial bars into the radially resilient ring, which, seen from the rear, can be arranged somewhat lower in the bit holder and thus leaves the hard metal ring the necessary space for its axial extension, but also for its radial extension, because the axial recesses previously required to keep the holding rods free can be omitted in the area of the current hard metal ring for the holding element in the form of the elastic ring.
  • the said ring consists of an elastic plastic and it engages in the ring groove of the chisel with an inner collar, behind which it has an annular groove on its outer circumference.
  • the ring groove on the outer circumference of the ring creates the space required for radial flexibility behind the collar. In view of this purpose, it is preferably wider than the inner waistband. At the same time, this alternative space is also closed quite tightly, so that it does not become clogged with dirt that could block the radial mobility of the inner collar.
  • the ring mentioned is made of metal, and it engages in the annular groove of the chisel with radially resilient segments which protrude obliquely backwards and inwards.
  • This ring made of metal has the advantage of certainly durable material compared to the aforementioned ring made of plastic, but is more complex.
  • the hard metal ring can be held axially by means of splining with its border, preferably by means of a U-shaped bracket.
  • the seat for the ring mentioned is drilled into the chisel holder with a diameter of 36 to 40 mm, preferably 37.5 to 38.5 mm, and to a depth compared to the rear bit holder end of 28 to 32 mm, preferably 29.5 to 30.5 mm.
  • the hard metal ring prefferably has an outer diameter and its border to have an inner diameter of 47 to 53 mm, preferably 49 to 51 mm, and / or both have an axial thickness of 12 to 15 mm, preferably 13 to 14 mm, and with the rear end of the chisel.
  • the border of the hard metal ring is preferably a ring welded to the rest of the bit holder. On this, regardless of the rest of the chisel holder, the adaptation to the flattening or other recess on the circumference of the hard metal ring can be formed more easily.
  • a chisel holder 1 which, together with a large number of other, identical chisel holders, is intended to be arranged on the circumference of a cutting roller, has a chisel 3 in a through bore 2.
  • the main position of the chisel 3 is in a hard metal sleeve 4 which is shrunk into the chisel holder. This encompasses a shaft 5 of the chisel with little play, and the chisel is supported on this end by a collar 6.
  • the chisel 3 is secured as follows to prevent it axially emerging from the chisel holder 1:
  • the chisel has an annular groove 9 cut into it with inclined walls 7 and 8 following its shank 5.
  • a seat 10 for a ring 11 made of elastic plastic is drilled out in the chisel holder 1.
  • the ring 11 is provided in the middle with an inner collar 12 and on the outside with an annular groove 13 which is wide in comparison to the inner collar.
  • the inner collar 12 engages in the annular groove 9 and lies against the wall 8 thereof. It is held in its seat 10 by a hard metal ring 14.
  • the chisel 3 is secured against turning as follows:
  • the previously mentioned hard metal ring 14 has a flat 15 on its outer circumference and a flat 16 with a curvature 17 on its inner circumference. It is seated in a ring 18, partially recessed in a recess on the back of the bit holder and welded to the bit holder body, the inner circumference of which matches the outer circumference of the hard metal ring 14, i.e. is provided with a counterpart to its flattening 15. It is held axially therein by a bracket 19, the two legs of which are inserted through aligned bores in the ring 18 and the hard metal ring 14.
  • the chisel 3 is seated in the hard metal ring 14 with its end portion which corresponds to the circumference with the inner circumference of the hard metal ring 14.
  • the relevant flattening on the chisel corresponding to the flattening 16 of the hard metal ring can be seen in FIG. 1 at 20. (The chisel is drawn in view in Fig. 1.)
  • Fig. 3 shows the hard metal ring 14, Fig. 4, the bracket 19 in view.
  • the inner collar 12 of the ring 11 is first pressed outwards by means of a cone 21 formed at the rear end of the chisel, which is made possible by the elasticity of the material and the evacuation space created with the annular groove 13.
  • the ring 11 again has approximately its original shape, shown in FIG. 1. Due to the oblique design of the wall of the annular groove 9, the chisel can be removed again in the same way.
  • the hard metal ring 14 withstands the changing contact between its flat 16 and the flat 20 of the chisel far longer than the previous rotation lock. If the hard metal ring 14 is worn, it can simply be replaced. The stress on the ring 18 due to the contact with the flattened portion 15 of the hard metal ring is comparatively low, since the same torques act here over larger lever arms and on larger surfaces.
  • the ring 11 made of plastic is replaced by a ring 22 made of steel and a further ring 23 used to hold it.
  • the ring 22 has four or more segments 25 separated by incisions 24, which essentially extend to the rear, but also somewhat radially inwards and, when the chisel is in use, lie against the oblique wall 8 of the chisel 3 instead of the inner collar 12.
  • Their radial compliance is based on their axial length component; they act as spiral springs.
  • the further ring 23 is separated from the ring 22.
  • the new chisel holder is also independent of the specified chisels, i.e. suitable for chisels of slightly different dimensions.
