Description

The invention relates to a cargo ship convertible for container transport with at least one loading space,
  • a) which is accessible through a hatch in the weather deck, the opening area of which is smaller than at least one storage area in an underlying parallel plane,
  • b) and in the vertical guides for containers are arranged such that they can be displaced horizontally in such a way that they can be arranged for container cargo in a working position below the hatch, but for other cargo in a storage position close to a wall of the loading space outside the hatch area.

Not only specially designed container ships are used for container transport by ship, but also other cargo ships. These then have to be converted to meet the changing requirements.

The retrofitting, in particular by assembling or disassembling the vertical guides, is difficult and time-consuming. In the case of cargo ships in which the cargo holds are accessible via hatches, the opening areas of which are smaller than the stowage areas underneath, permanently installed vertical guides have the disadvantage that the part of the cargo hold (stowage) which is not directly under the hatches is no longer usable and in particular then fallow if other freight is to be transported instead of containers.

From DE-A-32 36 925 a device of the type described above is known. It facilitates the conversion of bulk carriers, so-called bulk carriers, for container transport in that a cross-beam spanning the loading space is slidably mounted on running rails. Continuous vertical guides for the containers are attached to the crossbeam across the height of the loading space. When using the cargo ship as a bulk carrier, the traverse, along with the vertical guides, is moved along the running rails into a stowed position in the underwater storage. For container transport, it is moved into the area under the hatch opening and thus brought into the working position of the vertical guide.

Vertical guides of this type are unusable, for example, for those cargo ships which, depending on requirements, are intended to transport pallets and / or containers, because horizontal intermediate decks must be retractable into the loading space there. In such a case, horizontally divided vertical guides are permanently installed in the area under the hatch and anchored at the end to the load compartment wall (MacGREGOR Technical Data Sheet 12, June 1978). The intermediate decks for container transport are in an inoperative position and allow the cargo space to pass vertically. For pallet transport, they can be moved into an operating position that divides the load space vertically and slide through the vertical distances between the vertical guides. A disadvantage of such a ship is the unusable space (stowage) behind the vertical guides outside the hatch area, which is largely inaccessible during loading and unloading.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to propose a cargo ship of the type described at the outset which can be converted easily and in a time-saving manner from pallet to container transport and vice versa.

This object is achieved in that the vertical guides are attached to the wall of the load-bearing space with the aid of extension devices and can be extended from the stowed position into the working position.

The extension devices serve both to hold the vertical guides in their stowed position and to guide the vertical guides into their working position without the need for time-consuming setup work. The weight-reducing fastening of the vertical guides on the wall of the loading space enables their horizontal division as desired. This makes it possible to subdivide the load space by means of intermediate decks despite the displaceability of the vertical guides.

The extension device advantageously has at least one articulated arm with a vertical swivel axis, which is fastened on the one hand to the wall of the loading space and on the other hand to the vertical guide so that it can swivel about parallel axes. If the vertical guides are in their stowed position near the wall, the two partial arms enclose an angle of less than 10 ° between them. The two sub-arms lie between the wall of the loading space and the plane spanned by the vertical guides. If the vertical guides are extended into their working position, the angle between the two arms increases. At the same time, the entire articulated arm is pivoted around the parallel axes, both on the wall of the loading space and on the vertical guide. This removes the vertical guide from the load compartment wall until it is extended into its working position.

In general, the extension device will have a second, similar articulated arm which can be pivoted in the pivoting direction opposite the first articulated arm. This supports the uniformity of the stretching process and weight loss.

Rollers are preferably provided on the vertical guide adjacent to the wall running transversely to the wall of the loading space. These roles run on the wall. This ensures that the vertical guides always are aligned parallel to the wall of the cargo hold. The rollers can be rotated about a vertical axis and run directly on the wall. But you can also run on a rail that is provided on or in the wall; then the roller axes can also run horizontally. The rail is not only used for the horizontal guidance of the vertical guides when stretching out, but also - partly - removes their own weight and aligns them in their working position. For this purpose, the rail can have a special alignment section there.

If the vertical guides are in their working position, the forces acting on them are advantageously additionally absorbed by a locking device. This locking device preferably consists of a locking bolt engaging in the wall.

This locking device relieves the extension device, which can be carried out correspondingly easier.

Further advantageous features of the invention are characterized in other subclaims.

Darin zeigt:

  • Fig. 1 einen ausschnittsweisen Längsschnitt durch in erfindungsgemäßes Frachtschiff mit der Darstellung eines Laderaums und dessen Ladeluke;
  • Fig. 2 eine ausschnittsweise Draufsicht gemäß der Linie 11-11 in Fig. 1;
The drawings illustrate the invention using an exemplary embodiment. It shows:
  • Figure 1 is a fragmentary longitudinal section through in cargo ship according to the invention with the representation of a cargo space and its loading hatch.
  • Fig. 2 is a partial plan view along the line 11-11 in Fig. 1;
  • Fig. 3 is a side view according to arrow 111 in Fig. 2; and
  • 4 shows a front view of the vertical guides according to arrow IV in FIG. 2.

The cargo space designated as a whole by 1 is delimited by the transverse bulkheads 2 in the longitudinal direction of the ship. It can also be divided in the middle by a removable support structure 3, which extends transversely to the longitudinal direction of the ship, with vertical guides 4 for containers.

Access to the loading space 1 is provided by the loading hatch 5, which can be closed in the usual way by means of a weather deck hatch cover (not shown). Since the loading hatch 5 is in any case shorter in the longitudinal direction of the ship than the clear distance between the transverse bulkheads 2 (for example to gain storage space for the open hatch covers on the weather deck), there are no loading space parts located directly below the loading hatch 5, the so-called understowage. The container vertical guides 6 according to the invention with their extension devices 7 are accommodated in these loading space sections and fastened to the transverse bulkheads 2, as can be seen in detail from FIGS. 2 to 4.

Extendable intermediate decks 8 are located above and below the vertical guides 6 with their extension devices 7, which consist of essentially L-shaped profile rails and can either be moved into their operating position that divides the cargo space vertically, as shown in FIG Load space 1 is shown or - staggered in scales - can be retracted in its inoperative position in the area of the underbuild, as shown in FIG. 1 for the right half of the load space 1. If the intermediate decks 8 are in their operating position (on the left in FIG. 1), then the vertical guides 6 are retracted into the stowed position with the aid of their extension devices 7, so that the stowage can largely be used for stowing pallets on the intermediate decks 8. If, on the other hand, the intermediate decks 8 are in their inoperative position (right side in FIG. 1), then the vertical guides 6 have been extended in their working position with the aid of their extension devices 7, so that the containers 9 indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 1 are used with the vertical guides 4, 6 can be stowed and kept in their stowed position.

Fig. 3 zeigt demgegenüber von der Seite her gesehen (d. h. entsprechend Fig. 1) die ausgestreckte Arbeitsstellung der Vertikalführungen 6 mit durchgezogenen Linien, während die Staulage strichpunktiert angedeutet ist.2 to 4 show one or two of the extendable vertical guides 6 with the respective associated extension device 7. FIG. 2 shows a plan view, the (retracted) storage position of the vertical guide 6 being drawn with solid lines, the extended working position being drawn with dash-dotted lines (in the latter case the locking device is also omitted). 3 shows, on the other hand, seen from the side (i.e. corresponding to FIG. 1) the extended working position of the vertical guides 6 with solid lines, while the storage position is indicated by dash-dotted lines.

Each vertical guide 6 has two (different widths; see FIG. 3) cross members 10, 11, which are connected by oblique struts 12 to form a framework. On the front (i.e. towards hatch 5), the cross members 10, 11 carry vertical guide rails 13 of rectangular cross section (FIG. 2). In the working position of the vertical guides 6, the corners of containers 9 slide along the guide rails 13 or are held there. The ends of the guide rails 13 are angled or tapered for better "threading" of the containers during the stowing or unloading process.

At the rear, 6 articulated arms 14 are pivotally articulated about a vertical axis 15 on the cross members 10, 11 of the vertical guides (omitted in FIG. 4). The articulated arms 14 each consist of two sections 16a and 16b which are articulated to one another by means of pivot bearings 17. The part 16b of the articulated arm 14 is - pivotable about the vertical axis 18 - attached to the transverse bulkhead 2 via a bearing block 19.

Each extension device 7 has two articulated arms 14 which are mirror-symmetrical to Longitudinal median plane 20 (FIG. 2) of the cargo ship are arranged; 2 the second articulated arm 14 is omitted for reasons of space. Hydraulic cylinders 21 serve to buckle and extend the articulated arms 14 and thus the extension devices 7. A stop 22 (FIG. 2) limits the pivoting of the associated articulated arm 14 when the extension device is extended and in this way determines (in the longitudinal direction of the ship) the working position of the associated vertical guide 6 (guide rails 13).

At the (lateral) ends of the cross members 10, 11 rollers 23 are provided which run on the side walls 24 of the loading space 1 when the vertical guides 6 are moved from their stowed position into the working position or vice versa. Furthermore, locking bolts 25 are provided on the crossbeams 10, 11 and can be displaced transversely to the longitudinal direction of the ship by means of hydraulic cylinders 26. They engage both in the stowed position of the vertical guides 6 and in their working position in sleeves 27, which - additionally supported - are arranged in the side walls 24 of the loading space 1 (omitted in FIG. 2 for the working position).

Claims (11)

1. Cargo vessel which can be adapted for the transporting of containers and having at least one cargo hold;
a) to which access is possible through a hatch in the weather deck, of which the opening area is smaller than at least one stowing area in a parallel plane disposed therebeneath;
b) and in which vertical guides for containers are so arranged for being horizontally displaceable that, for container freight, they can be arranged in an operating position below the hatch, but, for other freight, they can be arranged in a stowing position near the wall of the cargo hold outside the hatch region,

characterised in that the vertical guides (6) are fixed in a weight-supporting manner and with the aid of extension means (7) on the wall (2) of the hold (1) and are able to be extended from the stowing position into the working position.
2. Cargo vessel according to claim 1,
characterised in that the extension means (7) are able to be hydraulically actuated (21).
3. Cargo vessel according to claim 1 or 2,
characterised in that a plurality of vertical guides (6) are arranged one above the other and with between decks (8) arranged between them, which decks are displaceable horizontally from an inoperative position with a vertically accessible cargo space (1) into an operative position dividing the cargo space (1) vertically.
4. Cargo vessel according to at least one of the claims 1 to 3,
characterised in that the extension means (7) comprise at least one hinged arm (14) with a vertical pivot axis (17), which arm is fixed so as to be pivotable, at one end on the wall (2) of the hold (1), and at the other end on the vertical guide (6).
5. Cargo vessel according to claim 4,
characterised in that the extension means (7) comprise a second, similar hinged, arm (14), of which the swivelling direction is opposite to that of the first hinged arm (14).
6. Cargo vessel according to at least one of the preceding claims,
characterised in that rollers (23) are arranged at the ends on the vertical guides (6), which rollers, at the time of extension, run along a partition (24) which is perpendicular to the wall (2).
7. Cargo vessel according to claim 6,
characterised in that the rollers (23) run on a substantially horizontal rail, which is arranged on the partition (24), and which supports the vertical guides (6), both at the time of extension, and also aligns them in the operating position.
8. Cargo vessel according to at least one of the preceding claims,
characterised in that the extension means (7) are provided with a locking means (25, 27) which, in the operative position of the vertical guides (6), takes up the forces which are acting on these latter.
9. Cargo vessel according to claim 8,
characterised in that the locking means comprise a latching bolt (25) which engages in the partition (24).
10. Cargo vessel according to claim 9,
characterised in that the locking bolt can be actuated hydraulically (26).
11. Cargo vessel according to at least one of the preceding claims,
characterised in that a stop (22) limits the movement of the vertical guide (6) into the operative position and, in this way, determines the operative position.
