Definitions

  • Gas distribution duct in an enclosure in particular air distribution in a room
  • the present invention relates to improvements made to the gas distribution ducts in an enclosure, in particular for air distribution in a room having a substantially continuously decreasing section according to the direction of gas flow and comprising several gas distribution openings in the enclosure arranged at intervals along this sheath.
  • the air distribution ducts are, in general, made of a rigid material (metal, plastic, etc.) and it is necessary to give the side walls of duct sections of the shapes. trapezoidal to obtain the desired decrease in section.
  • US Pat. No. 2,857,108 discloses a device for heating greenhouses comprising a rigid hot air distribution pipe composed of successive sections whose passage sections decrease from upstream to downstream. These sections are made up of either cylindrical or frustoconical elements, to ensure the decreases in section and each carry orifices for the diffusion of hot air in the greenhouse.
  • a ventilation device consisting of a set of air blowing boxes distributed in a suspended ceiling made up of slabs carried by profiles.
  • Each box, of quadrangular shape, is delimited at its lower part by the slabs of the suspended ceiling, at its upper part by a flexible sheet pinched on two of its sides on two profiles, and by two vertical walls on which the sheet rests flexible.
  • the air is diffused by slots made between the slabs of the suspended ceiling.
  • the object of the invention is essentially to remedy, as far as possible, the above-mentioned drawbacks and to propose an air distribution duct which is easy to manufacture and of low cost.
  • a sheath of the type mentioned above arranged in accordance with the invention is characterized in that it comprises a rigid longitudinal part having the shape of a gutter of identical transverse shape at least over significant sections of its length and serving as a support for a longitudinal deformable part covering said rigid part and sealingly connected thereto, this deformable part having a width which is substantially continuously decreasing according to the direction of circulation of the gas and being subjected to the antagonistic actions of gravity generating forces directed towards the inside of the sheath and forces directed towards the outside due to the pressure of the gas circulating in the sheath.
  • the rigid gutter-shaped part has, in the position of use, its concavity turned upwards.
  • the openings are made in the rigid part, for example by cutting carried out at the same time as forming by stamping in the case where the rigid part is metallic.
  • An air distribution duct arranged in accordance with the invention has the advantage of automatic and continuous adaptation of its cross section as a function of the desired linear blowing density; moreover, the rigid part has simple geometric shapes, of easier manufacture, without complex cutting of materials and without loss of materials; its production can be carried out continuously with automated means.
  • the deformable part which can advantageously be made of a gas-tight fabric, has a substantially trapezoidal shape with converging longitudinal edges, which is easy to obtain by traditional cuts in the textile industry, easier to make only identical cuts made on rigid parts made of sheet metal or plastic.
  • the distribution sheath 1 comprises a rigid lower part 2 and a deformable upper part 3 covering the previous one and subject thereto by assembly means ensuring air tightness.
  • the rigid lower part 2 has the general shape of an upwardly concave gutter. It has a constant shape over its entire length or at least over significant sections of its length. In the example shown, it has three faces, namely a bottom 4 framed by two side walls 5 inclined symmetrically with respect to the bottom. In the side walls 5 are made openings 6 of substantially identical dimensions and approximately regularly spaced along the sheath.
  • the rigid part 2 can be metallic and obtained for example from a sheet of sheet metal from which the openings 6 are cut and then which is folded to be brought into the configuration shown in FIG. 1.
  • the shape of the cross section of the rigid part 2 is not imposed by the structure given to the sheath in the context of the invention and many other shapes (in V, in U, in box open towards the top, for example) can just as easily be chosen depending on the intended use.
  • the arrangement of the openings 6 can be that shown in FIG. 1; but other arrangements can be retained as necessary (for example additional openings made in the bottom 4, openings provided asymmetrically on a single wall, etc.).
  • the only restriction which seems to be necessary for a suitable diffusion of the air is that the openings 6 are made in the lower rigid part 2, so as to ensure a direction of diffusion of the air that is substantially constant throughout the sheath. .
  • the rigid part may possibly consist of successive sections, each having a constant width but different from one section to another (in principle decreasing from one section to the next, according to the direction of circulation of the gas) and connected together by connecting fittings allowing passage from one section of a width to the next section of lesser width.
  • the deformable upper part 3 is constituted by an airtight flexible strip, of substantially trapezoidal shape with converging longitudinal edges, for example a fabric, a canvas of synthetic material such as polyvinyl chloride, a coated fabric, etc.
  • This strip is fixed longitudinally, not stretched, to the longitudinal edges of the lower part 2; the effective width of this strip, that is to say its dimension between the two fixing lines on the lower part 2, decreases progressively throughout the strip (1 in FIG.
  • the variation of the width must therefore be calculated in an appropriate manner, for each configuration of duct, as a function of the variation of the air flow in the duct, in order to maintain a substantially constant static pressure there, in other words as a function of the initial air pressure at the inlet of the duct and the linear pressure drop in the duct (itself a function in particular of the surface and the spacing of the air diffusion openings).
  • the flexible strip 3 can be fixed to the lower part 2 by any suitable airtight connection means.
  • the edges of the strip 3 can be glued to the edges of the rigid part, or else be fixed by means of hooking in tape such as those sold under the registered trademark. VELCRO or the like.
  • FIGS. 5 and 6 represent a particularly interesting variant of the arrangement shown in FIG. 4.
  • the longitudinal gutter 9 provided on each longitudinal edge of the rigid part 2 has a quadrangular cross section, preferably substantially square, with a longitudinal opening or slot 10, forming an access neck to the interior space of the gutter. This neck 10 opens towards the outside of the rigid part 2.
  • the gutter 9 is itself bordered by a wing 11, for example folded in L whose angle 12 constitutes a bearing surface whose usefulness will be indicated later.
  • the flexible part 3 for its part, has at each of its edges folded back on itself (for example sewn or glued) around a core 13 which can be a flexible cord or a flexible or semi-rigid rod for example.
  • a core 13 which can be a flexible cord or a flexible or semi-rigid rod for example.
  • this core can be embedded in the edge of the strip 3 during the manufacture of the latter in the case where this strip consists of a film or based on a plastic film.
  • the edge of the strip provided with its core is introduced into the gutter from one end of the latter, by traction using a cord 14 secured to the end of the core 13.
  • the strip 3 subjected to the opposing actions of gravity generating forces directed towards the inside of the sheath and forces due to the pressure of the air circulating in the sheath. Under the action of these latter forces, the strip is tensioned and is firmly applied against the upper edge 14 of the neck 10, then against the angle 12 of the wing 11; this double support is sufficient to oppose the passage of air between the rigid and deformable parts.
  • the rigid part 2 can be equipped with a series of arches 15 more or less regularly spaced from one another and having a decreasing height, according to a law of decrease corresponding to what has been indicated above for the variation of the width of the strip.
  • These hoops have the sole function of supporting the deformable part at rest, that is to say when no air flow circulates in the sheath (as shown in fig. 7).
  • This arrangement is especially advantageous for very long ducts, in order to avoid a complete flattening of the flexible cover strip when the supply fans are stopped and to facilitate the initial circulation of air when restarting. fans.
  • the support of the strip in the absence of air circulation, also improves the appearance of the sheath.
  • the deformable part in the form of a very long element capable of being secured to several sections end to end of the rigid part.
