Description

The invention relates to a method and a device for the continuous coating of plastic floor coverings with a structured surface, in particular of structured PVC floor coverings, with a surface finish.

Plastic floor coverings with a structured surface, in particular so-called chemically embossed PVC floor coverings, are widely used as floor surfaces today, primarily because of their diverse decorative surface designs and their extensive resistance to wear and tear. In order to maintain a well-groomed appearance after laying for a longer period, it is necessary to maintain the surface of these floor coverings. Such effective initial maintenance of the installed flooring is, however, only very rarely carried out on site by the supplier. The cases in which the buyer does such initial care in the "do it your self" procedure after the floor covering has been laid are also exceptional. If such initial care is carried out at all, it is very often inadequate, faulty or is carried out too late and, above all, it is also carried out without the effect of heat, which improves adhesion. This results in irreversible, premature soiling of such structured floor coverings, especially if they have a light color. There are walking zones, rubber heel markings, etc., which cannot be removed later. In addition, chemically embossed PVC floor coverings have the property that the plasticizer that is always present forms a plasticizer film on the surface of the floor covering by migration within days and weeks, which is particularly susceptible to dirt and also acts as a separating layer from the care products that are usually later applied by the end user.

From DE-B-28 40 581 it is known to provide a structured floor covering made of thermoplastic plastics with a transparent, resistant and scratch-resistant wear layer made of a photopolymerizable plastic. The plastic is applied to a substrate in a free-flowing curtain-like manner, air bubbles being enclosed under the coating material.

In order to avoid this, prior to application of the plastic, at least the depressions in the substrate must be wetted with a mixture of an unsaturated acrylate in a previous, technically complex work step. The applied plastic cannot be evened out in this way.

Eine Vergleichmäßigung der Oberfläche des Grundmaterials ist der Literaturstelle nicht zu entnehmen.WO 82/02 681 describes a process for producing a decorative film material by printing on a polyvinyl film with a plurality of pigmented plastisols, a transparent plastic layer being knife-coated onto the decorative pattern layer after the last printing process and before curing, followed by the entire layer structure is dried in an oven. The literature reference does not show that the surface of the base material is even.

The invention is based on the object to provide a method and a device of the type mentioned, with which it is possible in a simple and inexpensive manner to produce a flooring that is already professionally provided with a uniform anti-soiling finish on the surface, whereby the above-mentioned difficulties and phenomena can no longer occur with the end customer of the floor covering. In addition, the coating of the floor covering surface in a fresh, wettable state is intended to achieve a particularly good adhesion and a particularly good durability of the protective film, which cannot otherwise be achieved with the conventional methods.

This object is achieved in that the coating of the surface of the floor covering is carried out immediately at the factory, after the production of the floor covering. For this purpose, a polymer dispersion based on pure acrylates in conjunction with corresponding temporary and permanent plasticizers or an organosol based on acrylate or polyurethane as a solvent-containing coating agent is applied to the floor covering by means of a roller as an aqueous coating agent.

The coating applied to the structured floor covering is uneven in its surface design, which is why the applied coating is firstly blown on by means of a gas stream, e.g. B. air is evened out to get a uniform layer thickness of the order on the finished flooring. Then the still moist coating on the floor covering is dried, hardened and fixed by means of thermal radiation.

The method according to the invention is suitable for coating endless floor coverings with a surface finish with a web width of the floor covering of more than 4 meters. The throughput speed of the floor covering can be 1 to 80 m / min. A throughput speed of 10 to 30 m / min has proven to be particularly suitable.

The layer thickness of the application on the structured flooring is even and adjustable from about 1 to 50 ILm. With a layer thickness of 3 to 20 IL m, the desired effect is already fully achieved in most cases.

A device for performing the inventions The method according to the invention is characterized by the features of claim 3.

Weitere zweckmäßige Ausbildungen der Vorrichtung enthalten die Ansprüche 4-7.Further expedient designs of the device contain claims 4-7.

The invention is further illustrated using a schematic drawing.

In this drawing, 1 denotes the structured floor covering web to be tapered from the production process. A trough 2 contains the aqueous and / or solvent-containing coating agent 3, into which a roller 4 is immersed and takes a corresponding proportion of the coating agent with it. The coating agent entrained by the roller 4 is then transferred to the surface of an application roller 5 rotating in the opposite direction of rotation. The structured floor covering is pressed against this application roller 5 by a deflecting roller 6 and the coating agent is accordingly applied to the surface of the floor covering. To ensure a good application of the coating agent on the surface of the floor covering, d. H. to accomplish that the coating film is applied to the entire surface of the structured floor covering, in particular also to the lower lying surfaces, it has been found to be advantageous that the application roller 5 has a closed smooth surface made of rubber. After the coating agent has been applied to the structured floor covering, the coated floor covering 7 is guided past a nozzle 9 via a further deflecting roller 8 in order to make the application layer more uniform, by means of which a gas stream, eg. B. air, the surface of the application layer blows, whereby a flat surface of the coating is formed.

The coated floor covering with its still flowable application layer is then guided past a heating device 10 and the applied layer is dried, hardened and fixed. As a heating device, a heat radiation source, for. B. uses an IR radiator field.

This process not only dries the coating applied as anti-soiling equipment to the top of the floor covering, but also ensures good adhesion between the floor covering and the coating due to the action of heat.

A 4.08 meter wide web of chemically embossed, structured CV flooring is fed to an impression roller at a throughput speed of 20 m / min. An aqueous dispersion of polymethyl methacrylate and polyethylene glycol as a plasticizer is in a tub.

This dispersion is about 20 percent by weight of polymethyl methacrylate and is pumped around with the appropriate dispersion located in a storage container.

By means of a revolving steel roller immersed in the dispersion, dispersion is continuously taken out of the tub and transferred to an application roller which has a rubber coating.

When the CV floor covering passes between the deflecting roller and the application roller, the surface of the CV floor covering is coated with a thin, coherent, endless, dispersion film which lies against the structured surface of the covering. The CV floor covering coated in this way is then passed over a deflection roller past an air nozzle which blows the still wet application with an air stream at about 40.degree. C. and smoothes the application. The uniform dispersion film is then passed onto the CV floor covering at an IR radiator field, which has an output of 2 x 8,000 Kcal / m 2 (2 x 33,500 KJ / m 2 ), and the dispersion film is dried, hardened and exposed fixed the surface of the CV flooring. After the last process, the coating has a thickness of approximately 6 f Lm, which corresponds to an application weight of approximately 30 g / m 2 of coating film.

Then the CV floor covering with the anti-soiling equipment is rolled up on a supply roller.

The advantages achieved by the invention consist, in particular, in that a floor covering, in particular a structured PVC floor covering, is provided with anti-soiling equipment immediately after the production process, with good adhesion between the floor covering and the coating being achieved. A uniform coating of the floor covering is achieved, with the lower areas of the structuring also being provided with the coating agent. The design is not affected and the degree of gloss or matt of the surface of the floor covering due to the covering can, if necessary, also be retained.

B. Automobilen Verwendung finden.Of course, the procedure according to the invention and the device according to the invention can also be used for the production of coverings which are used as end products for wall cladding, other covers or for the interior cladding of e.g. B. find use of automobiles.
