Description

The invention relates to a riser closure for closing the upper opening of a circular or oval riser with a cross section, which is arranged on the furnace top of a coke oven and via which raw gas formed during the coking of the coal in the coke oven chambers is drawn off and sucked into the template, whereby the riser pipe closure consists of a bell-like upper cover and an inner cover and the peripheral edge of the upper cover in the closed position is immersed in a water cup formed at the upper edge of the riser pipe, while the edge of the inner cover rests on an inner contact surface of the riser pipe.

Problems with such riser closures have arisen from the fact that the cast iron inner cover was very heavy and required large counterweights for the actuating linkage. Furthermore, it could not be avoided that condensate and cracking residues accumulated in the known closures in the area of the lid seat, so that the inner lid baked on and manual operation was only possible with great effort or with the aid of a crowbar.

The invention has for its object to make a riser closure easier on the one hand and on the other hand to prevent the inner cover from sticking to its seat, and to reduce or completely eliminate the maintenance and cleaning work previously required.

Starting from an ascending pipe closure of the type described in the introduction, the invention consists in that the inner cover consists of a curved sheet metal, has the shape of a spherical jacket section with a curvature directed towards the inside of the ascending pipe and rests with its circumferential edge on a sealing surface which passes through the upper edge an annular wall is formed, which is arranged at a distance from the water cup, is enclosed by this and the upper edge of which lies above the bottom of the water cup.

Further features of the invention emerge from the subclaims.

Practical tests with a riser pipe closure according to the invention have shown that even after 6 weeks of operation there were no annoying condensate residues which could lead to the inner ceiling becoming stuck. This result is surprising insofar as the riser tube closures had to be cleaned after a few days at the latest. The applicant attributes this, among other things, to the fact that the inner cover is designed as a downwardly curved disc and there is only an edge contact on the sealing surface. As a result, the condensate accumulating on the inner cover can no longer accumulate in the area of the sealing edge. but drips to the lower, lowest point of the lid and collects there until it drips through the riser pipe into the oven. Insofar as filigree cracking residues form at this point, they fall back into the furnace as a result of the vibrations that occur when the cover is actuated. The formation of the condensate is also influenced by the insulating free space that exists between the inner wall of the water cup and the annular wall arranged at a distance from it, since the condensate is deposited on vertical surfaces and no longer has the possibility of flowing to the sealing edge and accumulate there. It is also suspected that contamination on the underside of the cover and on its sealing surfaces is significantly reduced by the fact that the sealing edge of the inner cover is higher than in known closures, so that the production gas is sucked into the template at a greater distance from the sealing surface.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown. Show it:
  • 1 shows a partially sectioned side view of the upper end of a riser pipe with the closure according to the invention,
  • Figure 2 is a plan view and
  • Figure 3 is a side view corresponding to Figure 1, in which the lid is open.

In Figure 1, the upper end of a riser pipe 1 is shown, which is provided with a circumferential flange 2, on which the closure device is fastened with screws 3. This consists of a water cup with a bottom 4, an outer wall 5 and an inner wall 6.

The bottom 4 is extended to the interior of the riser and is provided with a further annular wall 7 which is enclosed by the water cup and is arranged at a distance from the inner wall 6 concentrically to the opening of the riser. In the illustrated embodiment, the water cup with the bottom 4 and the two walls 5 and 6 and the annular wall 7 consist of one piece, preferably of a cast construction. It is also possible to loosely place the ring-shaped wall 7 in the form of a ring on the inwardly drawn-out floor of the water cup and to position it concentrically with the riser pipe at some points evenly distributed over the circumference by inserting spacers between the inner wall 6 and the ring.

The closure member, which can be pivoted from the position shown in Figure 1 into the open position shown in Figure 3, consists of a bell-shaped upper cover 8, the peripheral edge, as can be seen from Figure 1, in the closed position in the water or another suitable liquid filled water cup 9 so that there is a gas-tight seal. The inner cover 10 according to the invention consists of a curved sheet which has the shape of a * Kugelmanteiabschnit- and is fastened within the top cover so that the curvature in the closed position is directed downwards, ie towards the interior of the riser pipe 1. The inner cover 10 is at a distance attached from the inner surface of the top cover 8 by means of a tubular holder 11 which is connected in the middle, for example by welding, to the inside cover and is attached at its other end in the central region of the top cover. In the illustrated embodiment, the spacer 11 is provided with a flange which is screwed to the top cover. The inner cover and upper cover thus form a unit. A separate mobility between the top lid and inner lid is not necessary because the top lid does not seal in terms of area, but because the seal to the outside is guaranteed by water immersion. In order to ensure a perfect seal even if stresses or deformations caused by heat, for example when the riser pipes are open for a long time, occur in practical operation, the invention provides for the upper cover with the inner cover attached to it via a universal joint 12 with the pivot lever 13 of the Linkage linkage 14. Of course, gimbaling is also possible. With 15 the pivot point of the pivot mechanism is designated, which contains a counterweight 16 in the usual way in order to reduce the force required to lift the lid. With 17 three screws are designated, with which the mobility of the upper cover is reduced to a necessary minimum.
