Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a sealed closure device, in particular for centrifuge pods, and also relates to the container provided with such a device.
We know that the product centrifugation operation in biology requires, because of the pathogenicity and the uncertain certainty of the aseptic nature of the treated products, special care as to the protection of the handler and the risks of spread in the environment.
These products are normally contained in tubes arranged one or more in containers or nacelles housed in the centrifuge tank.
The risk of breakage of the tubes exists and requires that the latter be enclosed in sealed baskets in order to avoid the risk of dispersion of the products when the centrifuge is opened.
Sealed centrifuge nacelles are known, the cover of which is screwed in the case of cylindrical nacelles or is fixed by means of screws. These devices require removing the basket from the centrifuge or using a tool to remove the tubes of treated product.
From patent FR-A-409,429, a closing device is known, in which the support of the cover on the container is produced entirely on the elastic seal. This device cannot ensure precise positioning of the cover upon closing and, on the other hand, the seal must contain all of the compression efforts of the cover during closing. Such an arrangement cannot be suitable for a centrifuge nacelle in which the seals would be subjected in this severe test configuration, supporting, on the one hand, the vibrations of centrifugation and, on the other hand, the large centrifugal force s' applying to the cover at maximum speed.
This principle of interposing a seal between the edge of a cover applied as a closure to a container is also described in patents US-A-1,935,094 and FR-A-407,398.
- a cover comprising a skirt of complementary shape to the guide surface of the container and ending in a peripheral edge raised towards the outside, said edge having, on its internal face, a chamfer intended to bear on the O-ring and a lower surface intended to come to bear on said shoulder to limit the penetration of the lid onto the container, and, on the external face, a wall with concave curvature, and
- - at least two elastic blades fixed on the outer wall of the container parallel to its axis and each having an inward hooking pleat located substantially at said raised edge of the cover and which is extended by an oblique upward extension and outwards.
It follows from this arrangement that the container lid closes and opens very easily. A simple pressure on the lid is enough to close the container.
This arrangement allows a perfectly reproducible tightening because independent of the user. There is therefore no risk of insufficient or excessive tightening and the resistance of the components over time is extended.
In the case of centrifuge nacelles, the opening and closing of the nacelles is possible without having to remove the latter from the centrifuge, which promotes the convenience of handling the products that the nacelles contain.
Furthermore, the nacelles being arranged so that their cover is directed towards the axis of the centrifuge. In the event of an incomplete closure of a cover, the locking is effected automatically by the centrifugal force which applies the cover to the container, thus promoting the snap-fastening of the poorly closed blade.
The container will advantageously have a circular opening, this shape not requiring a particular positioning of the cover relative to the container and allowing a uniform positioning of the O-ring in its housing, which ensures that a good seal is obtained when closing .
The cover may be transparent, in order to verify, before opening the cover, that no incident has happened to the product tubes.
The elastic blades will advantageously be housed in grooves parallel to the axis of the container and formed on the internal wall of the latter, thus ensuring the lateral wedging of the blades. A lug located at the lower part of the blades and coming into abutment against a corresponding shoulder of the container, will block any possibility of vertical translation upwards of said blades. The fixing of the blades on the wall of the container will be ensured by a screw tightened in a thread provided in the thickness of the body of the container.
Finally, the inclination of the chamfer of the internal face of the edge of the cover is variable according to the hardness, the positioning and the size of the joint.

The closure device, as shown in FIG. 1, applies to a container 1, in particular what is called in the art a centrifuge basket. This container has a cylindrical side wall and is open at one end. The
The
It ends with a bor-1 9 raised towards the outside having a
The
The closure device further comprises at least two
The
During its engagement on the container, the
Conversely, the
It will be noted that
It goes without saying that many alternative embodiments can be made to the closure device within the framework of the invention. Thus, the elastic blades with hooking pleats can be fixed, no longer on the container, but on the lid by means, for example, of a rigid ring secured to the lid, supported on the edge of the latter.
